I have a cute iPhone app that lets me have fun with magazines... May-be we should start another thread where we can create and discuss Gerry-inspired magazine covers?!!?! I have a few others already :-) As for BURNS, I'm dying to see it. IMDB indiates a 2010 release, but it seems unlikely since there no other information indicated. Is there any update anywhere? On a side note, is this poster/pic legit or photoshopped? I think it's great! Ciao all Attachments:

Well, with Gerry's Burns-ish hair style, the possible (yet unconfirmed) 3-day trip to Glasgow there has been a lot of speculation about Burns. Here is some more fuel into the fire. This TV director living in LA but originally from Scotland seems to know something about the project. He also claims that Gerry is a good friend: twitter.com/sadknobOther things he tweeted about Gerry:

Actually, about his "300" pecs and abs, all they did was air brush lines between his already eight pack abs and outline his pecs to make them show up on the film.

Fingers crossed!!!

He would need to be quite thin for the role of Burns...
Would love to see him in a role of Robert the Bruce too!

thanks to jeanie flixchatter.wordpress.com/2009/06/10/burns-baby-burns/Burns, baby, Burns! June 10, 2009 by rtm GB as the Robert Burns – what better man to play Scotland’s favorite son than the very Scottish Gerard Butler? Robert 'Rabbie' Burns Robert 'Rabbie' Burns Now this is as good a news as they come for Gerard Butler’s fans. Those who’ve been following his career for a while knows full well he’d be perfect for the role and allegedly, the actor himself WANTS to do it. As far back as 3 years ago, at the Red Eye premiere (that smart thriller with Cillian Murphy & Rachel McAdams), he told a reporter that he’s read the script, and in his usual gregariousness enthused how great it was. He even said Julia Stiles was interested to play Burns’ love interest, Jean Armour. Sadly, it went ‘puff’ as soon as GB got his big break in 300. Suddenly he became too busy doing everything from rom-coms to straight-to-DVD wannabe-thrillers that Burns got put in the back burner (or more like shoved under the rug!). He blamed it on financing but methinks he just got other priorities that spell ‘ka-ching.’ Let’s face it, doing a biopic on Rabbie Burns isn’t exactly Michael Bay-type of a blockbuster. In any case, as of January ’09, seems like the Burns biopic is finally back on! According to Filmstalker, even the Scottish Government is going to provide financial backing for the film. How cool is that? You can read more about it here. Let’s hope that this is more than just a rumor or wishful thinking. I can’t wait to see GB’s dramatic chops nail this one, oh, and it’d be great to hear him use his own Scottish brogue for once!

Thanks Kami... www.dailyrecord.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-news/2010/12/26/scots-movie-star-gerard-butler-meets-director-over-robert-burns-film-86908-22807953/Scots movie star Gerard Butler meets director over Robert Burns film Dec 26 2010 Toby Mcdonald, Sunday Mail HOLLYWOOD star Gerard Butler has staged a secret New York summit about making the long-awaited Robert Burns movie. After years of speculation and several doomed efforts to film the Bard's life, the 300 star met director Vadim Jean at the glitzy Paramount Hotel in Times Square to discuss the project. Last night, Jean confirmed the pair had been putting the finishing touches to plans for the Burns movie. He said: "We are great friends and we were meeting up, catching up. Burns is still on and we talked about working together." Reports had claimed Jean wanted to sign Paisley-born Butler to a new movie called Limousine co-starring Frasier actor Kelsey Grammer. But Jean said: "I am doing Limousine with Kelsey Grammer - whoever overhead the conversation got it completely wrong. Gerry isn't involved in that. "Maybe they overheard our conversation about Burns and put two and two together and made five." Jean, the man behind Leon The Pig Farmer and One More Kiss - in which Butler also starred - said: "Burns's words are at the heart of this film. "If you read a poem like Ae Fond Kiss, you understand every word, whether you know Lowland Scots or not. "The film will obviously use the poems unchanged and the dialogue will feel appropriate to the poetry. "We want as many people as possible to know about Burns and we obviously can't change the poetry - but we want a broad audience to understand what is going on. "We don't want to subtitle it, so it would be madness to write it all, every word, in Lowland Scots. It just wouldn't be acceptable enough. "But the language will fit the poems. "We are not going to be asking our actors to try to do that accent if they can't, so we want it to be understandable, while preserving the feel and the worth of the poetry. "Not enough people in the world know about Burns and this is a chance to introduce people to him." Described as a Scottish Shakespeare In Love, the film focuses on Rabbie's lovelife as he is torn between wife Jean Armour and Edinburgh society hostess Agnes McLehose. The film is being made by 41-year-old Butler's company Evil Twin and the Mob Film Company. The Scottish government were to have helped with finance through a fundraising dinner, but that was cancelled. However, Scottish Screen's successors Creative Scotland will be involved. Jean added: "Both Gerry and I are totally committed to this film. When the script is right, we know the money is there. People want to finance it."
