Many a fair maiden have fallen under his spell, how many through the years, it is hard to tell
As i was hastilly scrolling down the poem , i thought this was for Gerard. Well, i found out it was for Rober Burns.....yet it doesn't make such a great difference, aye ? Thanks for posting it, Pat !

Wow! That quote does seem to apply to The Butler.... he's the best person to play the bard, I can't wait to see this.

I hope they're going to come to Edinburgh too... and not choosing to film everything inside a studio like they use to do these days...

I hope they're going to come to Edinburgh too... and not choosing to film everything inside a studio like they use to do these days... I have heard Gerry say in interviews that they would be filming in and around the Glasgow area...But how far is Edinburgh from Glasgow. Can't be that far? Surely there is a bus or train of some sort that could take you there...? If you make it there while he is there, we wanna see pictures!

That would be weird because Burns lived in Edinburgh for a while, if I'm not wrong (I'm not well informed about the bard though...)
Edinburgh is 39 miles far from Glasgow, but it would be difficult for me to go to Glasgow during the week, I'm 50 miles north of Edimburgh and I've no car... If they film in Edinburgh I can get easily there...
By the way, I don't think there would be a problem to see the pics, many Scottish Gerry fans live in this area...

www.thesun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/2904697/Gerard-Butler-is-set-to-play-Robert-Burns-in-a-new-film.htmlGerry will be fabbie RabbieBy MATT BENDORIS Published: Today Add a comment (0) MOVIE hunk Gerard Butler WILL play romeo poet Rabbie Burns in a new flick, says the director who gave the actor his big-screen break. Starmaker Vadim Jean is preparing to start filming the movie about our national bard - and says Hollywood A-lister Butler will be "perfect" in the role. And he told how the Paisley-born heart-throb - who has been linked with screen beauties including Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston - was always a shoo-in to star as the randy 18th-century poet. He joked: "They're both known for their love of women, so Gerry will be perfect in every way. "But he'll really look the part as Burns. You can imagine him in the costume." And he added: "I had a meeting with Gerry recently and he made it clear he's desperate to play Burns. "We've been trying to get the project off the ground for nearly a decade. Now the cameras are set to start rolling later this year." Vadim gave Butler, 40, his first lead role in 1999 in movie One More Kiss. Since then he's rocketed to stardom in smash hits 300, Law Abiding Citizen - and current film The Bounty Hunter. But Vadim - whose film about the bard is simply called Burns - insisted that fame had not changed the Scot. He said: "Gerry's remained the same - the only difference now is he has a lot more houses. "But he's got incredible charm and makes good choices." ___________________________ Forgive me if I have a grain of salt on this however if he is going to do it, I think this is the year to do it. Last time I got all excited it was an old news item they had dredged out and put a current date on it. If they had said when they spoke to this guy I'd be less skeptical though they do mention Bounty Hunter so it's not a total retread. It would be incredible if Gerry could put three indy projects in the can in one year, Coriolanus, Machine Gun Preacher Burns.

There has been talks of this movie since, what, 2004/05? I am wondering when it will happen. I know in the past they have talked about problems with the screenplay and then finances being the hold-up. But this article seems to indicate that it will still happen and that is exciting I notice that Gerry has not talked about this for a while now. He only mentions Coriolanus and Machine Gun Preacher, so I am starting to think that this movie will not happen this year after all. I really hope it will happen eventually though. I thing Gerry is being careful, and making sure that the script is perfect before they start, because he knows what a big deal this movie is, him being scottish and all. The Scottish critics will NOT be kind to him, if he does a horrible Burns film.

Well Gerry usually says nothing unless everything or just about everything is in place like financing etc so really until we see a more official announcement like something from Variety or Hollywood Reporter or something from Gerry's lips, I tend to remain skeptical.

I mean Gerry has been talking up Machine Gun Preacher in the last few days so we have to assume that project is farther along than it says at IMDB or he is just so excited about it he's uncharacteristically jumping the gun. If Burns is a true go we should hear him say something before he starts filming Coriolanus. As he said on Kimmel he's running out of things to say, poor thing.
