Don't deserve the kharmas apparently these are Jan 2009 articles that got hauled out for Robbie Burn's Birthday today so it is hard to say just where this movie stands, darn.

I am so glad they are doing this, but I wonder if we'll even see it in the States: Robert Burns isn't well-known here and it may not be considered marketable for the theaters to carry it.

thanks canadia for these posts! schweet. LOL....prince 'not feelin' it'.
welp, i' m just so happy to hear this is going to happen.
although, i've only seen the one film vadim had made many moons ago, even then i could see he has a flair for dramatic panorama with going from macro-vision to micro-vision.... as well as building an 'underlying sense' of tension between the characters. this makes for good cinema and 'experience' for the onlooker.
he mixes a dusky baroque busyness juxatposed to stark, methodist clarity. ?? hopefully, this director will have matured and honed his craft. i'm putting my guacamole on a 'success' oppossed to anything else.

If he is gonna look somewhat similar to this in Burns, I guess it means we will get to see those wonderful curls again. YAY! I love his curls. I can't wait for this movie. Gerry with curly hair, reciting poetry and getting it on....OooLala!

Sweet Mother of Jesus ! Is that really him on the poster? I hardly recognised him....perhaps the eyes a bit... WOW ! That look is sooooo smouldering.... I would definitely watch a movie about RB with Gerard, yet a movie with THIS poster is a totally MUST ! PS That was a GREAT finding, Prince ! Thanks for posting it !

Great find, Princeton. I think they just did up a concept poster so they could have something to use as an icon. Burns clearly did not sport facial hair from all portraits of him around. I found the information about the producers and Untold Pictures fascinating. Very green to say the least. Big project with small budget = big challenge. Pre production is always considered one step up from in development. Hmmmm. Now the other film in pre production Satsifaction is supposedly ready to rol first quarter of this year and they snagged Sharon Stone as one of the actors. Good or bad? Plot sounds intriguing: a young gigolo in London is caught between a rich manipulative woman [Stone] and a younger woman. The script is written by a guy with credentials, Simon Burke. www.variety.com/article/VR1118009854.html?categoryid=13&cs=1&query=sharon+stone

Di, my Karma went backwards, LOL!! I lost a point....
Not sure if the poster is 'real' but I thought it was nice. Hopefully we start to get dates for filming for Burns and Machine Gun Preacher soon since they are both on the docket for '10.

After some hard exploring work on the said poster, it's definitely Gerard, only with some touch of Photoshop to make the result more like "period"..the curles, his collar, etc.... Good Lord, i've never seen Gerard in a period drama - POTO doesn't really counts because of deformity and not enough scenes of Gerard, and i've yet to seen "Cherry Orchard"... So, i'm really excited for this project, since i'm : 1) A GB fool 2) A period drama fool

Now Gerry said in an Brazilian interview, I can't remember if that was ever posted here, that he planned on being in Africa at the same time as the World Cup of Soccer is going on in South Africa, which is in June 2010 and that he hoped to get to see some games. So my guess is if the financing is all finalized they have already scheduled to be in Africa then, if they are shooting in South Africa I will be their winter time therefore cooler. I have to think that once they got Gerry signed on board, that getting that last bit of financing must be easier. It seems to have worked for Coriolanus.
That is how people were tipped off he had signed up for the role which was then confirmed in the press the next day. Gerry usually does not spill until he has signed on the dotted line from what I have seen so far.
So I can see Gerry going from Coriolanus almost straight into Machine Gun Preacher. Therefore if they were doing Burns that would likely be fall in Scotland. Wet and cold?

wow! great find prince! THANK YOU! (i'm adding extra karma pts) whoosh...talk about serendipity...australia, south africa, burns, preacher man....(ouch) all in the same paragraph. it sounds plausible gerry would release info about pre-production film not until after contract (legally speaking).
i'm AMAZED you girls put up a reasonable sounding schedule for mr. B....i'm keepin my eye on here....
