He already has a super power, the ability to charm women into his bed. He also has the ability to gather women together who become giggly and goofy and love him so much that a forum was founded in his name. You know weirdly obsessed women gather super power. LMAO THIS so much

You ladies are so right. He can paralyze us at a glance. Been there done that.
He can gather women alone or in groups for any purpose he wants them for. He has no say in this forum group but he should read out thoughts...it may be a good thing.
Gerry pretty much ruled out hyped up superpower movies but I think he should have grabbed one. He would have been awesome as Batman.
Once he regroups here...hoping that happens...I hope he does think seriously about some kind of movie that will be very popular with the public. He likes the ones with messages etc but those aren't the ones the public wants to go to. I admire Gerry for wanting to do those movies but he needs some big action flicks for a bit before he starts the ones he wants to do.
I agree he seems to be content with his success and not worried about his future in movies. It is worrisome. Anniston said Gerry has the same view of his career as she does and that unfortunately is mediocre movies all the time...Anniston's career.
Gerry is so deserving of a great role in a great script. I sometimes wonder if he sabatoged his career after 300. He had all the doors open to him and came up short with Gamer.
He'll be out there fighting again. Let him have this week to rest or party or whatever he's doing. Then back to work Gerry!

This is actually a very good thread. Enjoyed reading this and it also made me realise that I never really belonged to the people that actually think about his career and want him to be successul whereas fans like me just watch the movies and comment on them later instead of really thinking about him and his choices, the background of all of his decisions. Anyway, what I really noticed after watching Gamers for example...I didn't like the plot and I was not really satisfied with the script...I didn't like the movie to be frank...but it didn't make me doubt Gerards acting talent. He's so talented, I feel like he wastes his talent on movies that do not 'deserve' him if this makes sense. I don't know if I am in the right position to say that but instead of flying back and forth to Madalina, he should stick around in the movie industry, do some mindmapping, have a coffee with his agent and talk everything through. He once said he already had the great success and is not seeking it anymore...I don't know why but I feel like he is tired and just wants to enjoy his private life more...I feel like he's now acting in movies to keep the money rolling in. If he would just get back to his old spirits...I am sure he CAN and he WILL. Like you guys already pointed out, he's a fighter! I absolutey agree with you, Eloise. I also would rather see him chasing after a good script than chasing after MG. I don't think we have seen the best of him yet. I would be heart broken if he gives up on acting now. He has so much talent, please don't waste it, Gerry. Yes, a super hero movie would be great, preferable a franchise he can fall back on. Gerry in tights and cape.... or a super hero in kilt and Scottish accent, I am all for that! this is an interesting thread. i'll add my two cents worth. not sure what to think. as a movie goer, i take the whole product at face value. purely for what is being presented at that moment. then make my judgement. did it entertain positively, negatively? were there thrills, chills, emotion stirred? was it put together well? what was the message? visual impact? my tastes are varied and i see beauty and relevance in 'all' works of art...films are a work of art. the function is still the same ...to convey humanity, to share a story, to revolutionize our viewpoint, to introduce something new, to finalize a collective chapter. if you consider the careers of myriad of great acters and actresses spanning years, perhaps only 1 maybe 2 films have made such an indeliable mark on the culture. a diamond in a haystack. otherwise....it is a joy & blessing to work at a craft of which 'theatre people' are born to do....you can not separate their deep need and drive to express and perform....((shrugs)). so, with this being said....gerry's career choices are not abnormal or unusal for what every other actor does....they work. long and hard and continue to build...continue to reveal and continue to express and share 'the story'. as far as the money and fame and glamour, luxury, freedom....awesome benefits. astounding and yet, horrifying. i think this is why many greats, at one time or another, back away and take a sabbatical. to find where they are and who they are and what they are about. there are many films i'd love to see gerry accept....look whats happening with ben affleck. a very handsome man who has forgotten how handsome he is....and now, he is raw and every man. plain & simple. perhaps, gerry would shed the handsome glamour for plain and simple. either way, he is a good actor. he commands your attention while on screen. he compels you to ask the question ~ then wait for the answer.........

Glad you mentioned Ben Affleck. Interesting case in point. I believe he was a child actor then after years of working in the industry won awards for Good Will Hunting then came Bennifer and Gigli and in truth became so immersed in the tabloid aspects of the industry his career almost imploded. It took him years to rebuild and this week he might get an Academy Award nominations for Argo.
It is always enlightening to read about the careers of other actors and one thing that has always been clear. It takes great care to create and then maintain a solid career. Good choices are essential and becoming a tabloid regular always takes away and never gives you respect.
The acting profession strikes me as a viper pit.

By the way. Just been reading about possible award nods for the Oscars, and Bradley Cooper and Hugh Jackman are heavy prospects of gaining nominations.
If this is the case and these nominations do come to pass the people who handle and advise Gerard should be utterly ashamed of wasting his talent.

I saw Bradley Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook and he was very good. I will not be surprised if he gets an Oscar nomination. The entire cast was great. I went with two other people and we all liked the movie a lot The story was serious yet funny, one of my friends called it a drama-com. Of all the movies I saw over the holiday season, I must admit PFK was the weakest. Although I do love Gerry, it was not as good a story as is could have been. It would be great if Gerry and his team could get off this MG train wreck and make some good career moves. I also like the way Bradley handles his personal life. He does have girlfriends ( mostly actresses) but he keeps it real.

It is a great movie and Ben is a great director, writer and actor and we are very proud of him here in Boston. I hope he gets nominated for Best Director!!!

Good luck to Ben! I be the will be nominated!
I think that Gerry is like old time movie stars. Those actors were older and they were allowed to do all types of movies and no one complained if it were action, drama, rom com. Gerry reminds me of those actors very much. I wish Hollywood would allow actors to be like that and not try to peg them and make them do certain types of genres to make money.
I just hope Gerry is in a fighting mood to go do some good movies this year. Right now it worries me that we have no idea if he's working at all this year.

Seeing as how we are (sort of) discussing superheroes .... have you seen this image that was generated by combining the faces of previous Batmen (Christian Bale, Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer & George Clooney)? All that talent, and STILL not being able to hold a candle to Gerry.

I have not seen Argo but from what I have heard about the movie in general he could be in line for a nomination on Thursday.
I thought the little Penguin looked so sad and to be honest it is how I feel at the moment. I read and have heard so many poor reviews of PTF (many from board members posting here) while Hugh Jackman got praised for Les Mis.
I think Gerard's career is stuck at the moment but not over; his lack of interest in indie movies make things much harder. I agree that style wise he is reminiscent of a bygone era but I think the industry has moved on. I noticed he mentioned Shampoo as one of the influences of PTF but that was a controversial comedy from around 40 years ago. The industry let alone society in general has moved on massively from that point in time. Personally I do intend to see PTF and expect to enjoy the scenes with Noah and the other children but deep down I expect I will wince at the scenes with the women.
I want to be positive I want to feel that this is going somewhere but I have no idea where at the moment.
I still cannot find any accurate references for the Movie Top 10 in the UK for the last week except for the Odeon figures. Provisionally it looks like it has missed the top 10 altogether. I am genuinely shocked, horrified and saddened. He is down but not out but whatever advise he has been following it sure has not been to his benefit.
Where an earth does this leave Evil Twins, Gerard and the future.
