While there's little doubt that Shattered does suffer from its share of problems - ie its characters' actions are often dictated by plot rather than logic - the film is nevertheless a fairly effective little thriller that's backed by a blistering pace and a trio of expectedly strong performances. Gerard Butler and Maria Bello star as Neil and Abby, a happily-married couple whose placid existence is brutally interrupted after a sadistic psychopath (Pierce Brosnan's Tom) kidnaps their young daughter. Though it first appears as though he simply wants money (and lots of it), Tom eventually reveals a far more sinister plan for the couple - as he forces the two to jump through a series of arduous, increasingly embarrassing hoops. Director Mike Barker's sporadically ostentatious stylistic choices aside, Shattered generally comes off as a slick effort that works best during its more overtly thrillerish sequences - with Brosnan's electrifying performance certainly playing a key role in the movie's success. There's a genuinely unexpected twist regarding his character's motivations late in the picture, though it's the inclusion of a subsequent twist that leaves the movie with an exceedingly sour aftertaste ("absurd" is too mild a word to adequately describe it). Still, as disappointing as its conclusion may be, Shattered is nevertheless a mindlessly fun piece of work that's a must for fans of the three actors.

I saw this film on TV. It was a TNT presentation and I was glued. I did not like the ending but it was a good twist. I didn't think there would be any after the first twist which I kinda saw coming. But there was a lot of story lines going about which keeps you watching. It wasn't sloppy but not quite neat. But the biggest shocker was how emotional GB got. I felt for him on the roof top scene. He was crying snot and tears. He went all out for it. At first I was like (cover eyes) Oh lord no not this...but then he went into deep. Gotta see it. Now for his co-star. I love Maria Bello. She did a great job until the end. I don't know it was like they rushed it. Priece Bronson, I have seen better for him but again he did okay. His charcter could have had more developing. I have to admit that it looked more TV movie then theater. When I saw it on TNT in September of last year, I liked the thought of GB doing TV too as well as film. It made me view him as a true actor. Not afraid to try something different. Article on Shattered by TNT: stkarnick.com/blog2/2007/09/tnts_shattered_gives_moral_twi.html Here is GB's interview. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzOTuNIk0yA&feature=relatedNow for the trailer...lol I went all out for this thread huh? ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWT5DJPM0Sc&feature=relatedWhat do ya'll think?

This film definitely had it's twists and turns; I was glued to my seat because I had to know the reason why he (Brosnan) was doing this to them. I, like most, expected it to be a collegue... the one whom Neil (Butler) managed to double-cross. I did find Neil to be full of himself, but to see him on the roof, especially when he was afraid of heights (know what that's like, I empathize), it tore my heart in two seeing him like that. And then when he entered that cabin... well, I was stunned, but it wasn't over yet and I knew that... like I said, twists and turns and the ending wasn't what I expected. I did enjoy the special features where they interviewed the cast and crew, deleted scenes and alternate scenes.

Yes LL. I was shocked. SHOCKED I tell you with the ending. I am usually good at predicting movie endings too and I only had this at 70%. I even guessed the Cabin scene. LOL
"Who breaks the wings of a butterfly on a wheel? I do." hehehehehe! Luv it!

lol I think that was the point. The fact is that it was a different character for GB. He did good I thought. In the end he would be changed. LMAO....Buahahahaha!

I started the movie hating PB's character; how could he do this to them? Take their child and threaten to kill her if they didn't do what he told them to do. And then the cabin scene... I started to feel sorry for him instead... and for Neil's wife, especially because this wasn't the first time for her. Neil was a real jerk and I think GB pulled that off pretty well.

I like this movie alot I really like Gerry's look! You can actually see his dimples and the like... Such a mature look on him. Oyveh! I like his face nekkid no...I love his NEKKID face...I want to suck on his chin without getting bristle burn. OH I wonder if his bristles are the soft silky type or the kind that take a layer or two of skin with it.
