Yes, indeed Di. Yum! I really like this movie, and even though I love the beard, I enjoy the nekkid chin on occasion... The accent? Don't even get me started!

I finally saw this movie and I don't quite understand why it never made it to the theatre - it is probably just as good if not better than much of the stuff that does make it to the big screen and I think it would be more terrifying on the big screen.
GB was quite pretty in this film LOL. Wow. Definite guyliner action going on. When he is wearing the gray suit and the gray overcoat and going up in the elevator. Thud. And he is in the whole movie even better.
Now I had guessed all along that the weekend away was NOT with the boss, ehem. But I was totally shocked with the twist wth Pierce and yes you start to feel for PB's character. I also enjoyed seeing Pierce play a bad guy and getting to use HIS native accent.
What was interesting to me is Abby gave Neil several opportunities to come clean, he could have had redemption at several points, and yet he continued to lie, even after everything they just went through. You could certainly see he had his charming and his not so charming side.
I see that Pierce was one of the producers. I love Maria Bello - she is a wonderful actress - she plays beautiful with substance always.

Was this movie made for TV specifically or just got sold to TV when they couldn't sell it to a distributor?

I am not sure why this never made it to the theatres or if it was ever supposed to. I don't understand it either, because I think it is a great movie. One of my favorite Gerry movies, actually.
I do have a few problems with it.
SPOILER ALERT!!If you haven't seen it already...
In the very beginning where Abby comes downstairs and finds Gerry in the kitchen with all the presents, there was a kissing scene they deleted, where he also gives her the bracelet, which they later sell at the pawn shop. Now, every time I have seen this movie after seeing that deleted scene, it bothers me. Why did they choose to delete that? To me, it would make so much more sense to keep it in there, because of what happens to that bracelet later in the movie. That bracelet is such a big part of Neil's lying and cheating, and then coming home with the expensive bracelet, to smooth things out.
Also, the scene outside the trainstation where Neil gets rough with Abby by the car seems unrealistic to me. All the people behind them walking by, don't even glance their way. I think that in real life, someone would have stopped and said something, or at least called the police to report it, if they saw a man handling a woman like that. If you didn't know any better, it would look like he is trying to assault her. I don't know.
The ending? In the commentary, the director, I believe it is, explains that they actually had a different ending where you see Abby leaving with the daughter, and them agreeing to end the marriage I guess. But they thought that would be too much of a sappy ending, and decided on the other one. They also purposely left Abby's face as the last shot that you see, because they thought she was sucha strong woman in the movie.
With all that being said, I really llike it, and I thought Gerry was great in it. I love the roof top scene, and the scene in the hotel where PB forces Abby to change into that dress, Gerry's facial expressions are fantastic. You can really feel his pain there.

This film definitely had it's twists and turns; I was glued to my seat because I had to know the reason why he (Brosnan) was doing this to them. I, like most, expected it to be a collegue... the one whom Neil (Butler) managed to double-cross. I did find Neil to be full of himself, but to see him on the roof, especially when he was afraid of heights (know what that's like, I empathize), it tore my heart in two seeing him like that. And then when he entered that cabin... well, I was stunned, but it wasn't over yet and I knew that... like I said, twists and turns and the ending wasn't what I expected. I did enjoy the special features where they interviewed the cast and crew, deleted scenes and alternate scenes. Ohhh, I wanna see those deleted scenes and alternate scenes! I love that movie. I was stunned while watching Gerry acting. His role was amazing, so emotional... Wow.
