I would add Walkers Shortbread. Mmmmm!, I love Walkers shortbread. Don't know if any of you have a Costco near you, but during the Christmas Holidays they sell this huge tin of Walker's shortbread. So lovely!!

So lovely!! Stop and Shop here in New England sells Walker's by the box and I consume them by the box as well. Other than the Honolulu Cookie Company's little pineapple shaped cookie dipped in chocolate www.honolulucookie.com/Shop-By-Flavor/departments/1/ Walker's are my favorites and I eat way too many of them. Has anyone ever tried the ginger ones? www.walkersshortbread.com/

Those rolling green hills, the architecture, the history, the literature, the brogue, cold nights, warm days & nights, the culture, the language, it fills your senses, makes you feel alive and amazing as the pipes are piped & you hear the Scottish tunes......alas my ancestral home calls me back... You were born in scotland? wow I'm jealous ...... I would have liked. I love this island, without having been there ever be. where were you born? highland or lowland? Ancestral home ... where my forebears are from.

okay .....what is shortbread ? i had heard from this. yummi shortbread is a delicious mixture of cracker & cake. it is a variation of flour, butter, sugar and some add cornstarch. here's a basic traditional recipe: Ingredients 125g/4oz butter 55g/2oz caster sugar 180g/6oz plain flour Preparation method 1.Heat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5. 2.Beat the butter and the sugar together until smooth. 3.Stir in the flour to get a smooth paste. Turn on to a work surface and gently roll out until the paste is 1cm/½in thick. 4.Cut into rounds or fingers and place onto a baking tray. Sprinkle with icing sugar and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes. 5.Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until pale golden-brown. Set aside to cool on a wire rack. www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/shortbread_1290i guess all baking really depends on how you mix ingredients accordingly and then how you bake....makes all the difference. dough handling is an art, much like making sushi/sashimi in that it must be handled with care. sort of like....handling that scrumptuous bare leg of G wearing that leather kilt......

My grandmother used to make the best shortbread in the world. It would just melt in your mouth. Walkers Shortbread is the only shortbread that even comes close to hers. Unfortunately when she died the recipe disappeared.

Never tasted shortbread but it sounds good and wonderful memories abound for all of you. Must see if I can find some will not be the same as those made with love but would like to taste them. Of course my favorite Scottish export is GB

Hello Girls. Any readers out there. I need some recommendations for books. I'm getting low on fuel. Help Are you thinking fiction? I've got quite a few books (and podcasts) aout Scotland and the other countries of the UK, but they are history, not fiction. But I can recommend anything fiction or non-fiction about the Border Rievers, you can't go wrong with that.
