Scotland is a very interesting part of this world, not only famous for his Sexy Men or Galloways (Teddybulls for Fifi). Scotlands history is written in blood, sweat and tears. If the scotthish didn't fight the english, they fought each other. Not one booring moment. That's the source for great movies and books. We all love Diana Gabaldons "Outlander Saga" and our dear Gerry would be the perfect Jamie. Don't let us forget the music. I love the pipes. Yes, I know others think it sounds more like squeezing a pig. But we also have the great music from "Celtic Thunder" So, if you my Dearies, find something interesting about Scotland like movies, books, music or TV-shows, let's share it with each other. Ursi

Let me start with a TV Show from the late 90's that gave me the idea for this thread. Did you ever hear of a BBC series "Hamish McBeth" with Robert Carlyle? I just got all the three seasons from Netflix. I had a lot of fun watching it. Inhaled all shows in one day. Perfect day off. Hamish McBeth (Robert Calyle) is the young village constable of Lochdubh. He loves his job and his village and to avoid any promotions he keeps it pretty calm. Any problems, he solves without waking up the big city authorities. The inhabitants of the village are some pretty strong, funny and most strange characters and sometimes not easy to deal with. But in the end they all love Constable Hamish McBeth and help him to keep the peace and to protect the village from outsiders. I promise you a lot of . Both Hamish with his scottish broque and his little white westy terrier "Wee Jock" are just adorable. Robert Carlyle is also the actor that plays Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold in "Once Upon A Time". Feedbacks and reviews are very welcome. Ladies, enjoy. Ursi

I haven't seen the TV series, but I love the books.
A lot of tonight's episode of Downton Abbey took place in Scotland. Breathtaking scenery.

Those rolling green hills, the architecture, the history, the literature, the brogue, cold nights, warm days & nights, the culture, the language, it fills your senses, makes you feel alive and amazing as the pipes are piped & you hear the Scottish tunes......alas my ancestral home calls me back...

Any recommendations for a good book out there? Maybe in the line of the Outlander Saga or Mists of Avalon.
