Finally a rumour, maybe more then that... www.deadline.com/2013/09/gerard-butler-gods-of-egypt-set/#utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitterGerard Butler Circling Lionsgate’s ‘Gods Of Egypt’ EXCLUSIVE: Olympus Has Fallen star Gerard Butler is in discussions to join Game Of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in Gods Of Egypt, the Lionsgate film to be directed by Alex Proyas. The script was written by Burk Sharpless & Matt Sazama, the team behind Universal’s Dracula pic. I’m told Butler is in talks to play Set, a god of the desert, storms, and foreigners in ancient Egyptian religion. In Egyptian mythology, he killed and mutilated his own brother Osiris. Horus, the son of Osiris, sought revenge against Set for the killing of his father. Coster-Waldau will play Horus. They have both thrived in period macho turns, Butler in 300 and Coster-Waldau as Jamie Lannister in Game Of Thrones. Sounds like a good mano a mano match shaping up here if Butler’s deal closes. He’s repped by CAA and Alan Siegel Entertainment.

More about Set and Egyptian mythology. This could be the villain role Gerry talked about during the OHF tour en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_(mythology)Set /sɛt/ or Seth (/sɛθ/; also spelled Setesh, Sutekh, Setekh, or Suty) is a god of the desert, storms, and foreigners in ancient Egyptian religion. In later myths he is also the god of darkness and chaos. In Ancient Greek, the god's name is given as Sēth (Σήθ). In Egyptian mythology, Set is portrayed as the usurper who killed and mutilated his own brother Osiris. Osiris' wife Isis reassembled Osiris' corpse and embalmed him. Osiris' son Horus sought revenge upon Set, and the myths describe their conflicts. The death of Osiris and the battle between Horus and Set is a popular event in Egyptian mythology

He will play the nemesis of "Game of Thrones'" Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's character. Gerard Butler is in negotiations to play a villainous god opposite Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in Summit's epic fantasy Gods of Egypt. Alex Proyas to Helm 'Gods of Egypt' for Summit Alex Proyas is directing the film from a screenplay by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. The story is set in the aftermath of when one ruling god, Set, kills another, Osiris. When Osiris' son Horus fails in his attempt to get revenge and has his eye plucked out, it's up to a young human thief in love with a slave to help defeat the angry god. Coster-Waldau is portraying Horus. If a deal is made, Butler will play Set, the god of the desert. The movie is looking to go in the new year in Australia.Butler, who last starred in the surprise hit Olympus Has Fallen, is repped by CAA and manager Alan Siegel. Fifi!!!!

Give us a date and we'll all be flying off to OZ! That would be so awesome. Oz is huge so any idea where they may film a movie? Here is info and a pic of Set. Looks like he may be hanging around in a skirt (towel) again! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_(mythology)

There are movie studios in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and on the Gold Coast (south of Brisbane in Queensland - was this where some of Nim's Island was filmed?) - I guess if they want a desert they have thousands and thousands of acres to choose from. mumbrella.com.au/aussiewood-our-guide-to-australias-film-studios-71506If they film in Melbourne, Geoffrey will find it very handy - I think he lives there

We hardly had any news on Gerry while he was filming in Aussie. Which means a WO Conference and plenty of scouts to find him and pass on info/pics would be a great plan! We need to make a plan! So you know a friend of the director? Any chance of inside filming news...like locations? Hmmm. Looking forward to hearing all about this adventure...from you lovely Aussie ladies!
