PS It has been about three weeks that i've not touch a Jamie Fraser book. I feel rather missing him and Claire, vaguelly wondering what is going to happen to them in "The fiery Cross", yet not miss them enough to have to endure every single moment of learning about The Colonies history PLUS fauna and flora, while my favorite couple is behaviouring like a VERY old maried couple......Frustration! You know, I know what you mean. I am all about the romance too. They are both aging (sadly)....You know its time for Jamie and Claire to go on one of those marriage retreats! HA! There was one area....and I'm not going to go into details that Jamie got a little miffed about something another woman did besides Claire....He was actually jealous.....And Claire took it with a grain of salt. He said to her....don't take this personally Claire and I love you beyond reason but I'm cheesed off. If I were Claire I would have been really mad anyway....Gabaldon just let Claire dismiss it. I wish she hadn't.....

Honestly Dianne - how far into the " OUTLANDER" saga have you gone and...is it worthy ? I'm rather in desperation cause i don't want to start a new book in English ( being sort of English reading exchausted) and i've lent my "Crosstich" book in Greek version to a friend. I could handle it - very gladly for that matter !!! Tori, forgive my ignorance yet what are these "cliff notes" ??

I read them all, but it is all American History...and Jamie and Claire are now in their 50's... I have a feeling Gabaldon will have them die of old age at end the story. I thought the last book was a little sloppier than the others. It was almost like she was in a hurry to finish. I'm telling Tori the story through PM big event to big event....I've gone into only the relationship between Claire and Jamie. That's know as Ciff notes....getting enough of the story to understand it.

You certainly do a great benefit on dear Tori, Dianne, yet make sure that in certain points you transfer the story letter by letter.......cause it's only like that you can really feel the intense and the heat....of the historical battles , i mean..... I translating the HEAT of Jamie and Claire...LOL!!!

I love it! I am on Part Four of "Dragonfly in Amber"... this is a great series, but I refrain from reading this whole thread until I finish the series completely (too many spoilers). This is how I see Jamie in my head (I also see myself as Claire ;D). I need to find a man like Jamie for me, so until I do, I just have to keep dreaming.

I found this -obviously photoshoped - picture on a Facebook discussion board about Diane's Gabaldon "Outlander". He's so Jamie..... I know we can't bring time back and make Gerard any younger, yet he can still do Jamie in his 30s any time..... Lepardlady, savour every reading moment. "Cross stich" and "Dragonfly in Amber" are the gems on the crown of the Jamie Fraser saga !

Where are you Sass mybe for Leppard sake. I will ask you, have you read book four? Four is worth reading even with some of the American history thrown in.

I've read so far the Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager and Drums of Automn. Now i'm on a break with the saga, as i told ye... Desperately needed a time off reading in English.....my auld brain is soooo exchausted !!! I enjoyed DOA yet not as much as the first two books..... SPOILERIt's all about Jamie goes hanting or searching or doing something less intriguing than been tortured at British prisons ;D Claire healing, and healing and more healing and Roger and Brianna splitting and getting together...I know, i'm not fair about Roger's and Brianna's story which is rather interesting and REALLY intriguing in the fourth book yet reading about this young couple makes me think of Jamie and Claire as elderly people and i hate it.... I also miss the Scotland surroundings. I loved it when the story was setted in Highlands. I do understand though, that since DG is American it's easier to her writting about a more familiar continnent. I already have The Fiery Cross, yet i'm reluctant to start it......Afraid of finding my favorite couple turn out to be a retired couple ..... I miss the misunderstandings between them and the jealously and splitting/ separating cause it's so good when they are back together !!!!

I miss the misunderstandings between them and the jealously and splitting/ separating cause it's so good when they are back together !!!! There is a lot less of that and Jamie and Claire settle in together quite nicely and become more like an old married couple...A lot of the anqst between them is gone...but there are a few moments...There is now more tension between Roger and Brianna, but is hard to care for them like you do Claire and Jamie....About the American history....I've heard it my whole life and it certainly doesn't seem as romantic as European history. She really doesn't go into why America broke off with England to much....it was mostly taxation without representation...England needed money so they taxed the hell out of the collonies just because they could.....

SPOILERShall i hope for more Jamie and Claire turmoil in the fifth book ( A Breath of Snow and Ashes) or shall i abandon any hope ? END OF SPOILERTo any of you history novel fans, i highly recommend you Mika Waltari's books. He's a Finnish author and marvelously describing every period he sets his mind into. My first reading of his was " John Angelos" - instantly fell in love with the book - a very fine romantic story also. I've also read "The Pilgrim" and now i'm on "Sinnuche- the Egyptian". Oh.....did i mention i read it in Greek - strictly in Greek ? ;D

The fifth book is The Fiery Cross (and so far the only book I am missing right now)... I am to the part where Jamie explains to Claire about the "ointment" she was rubbing on his leg and what it's made of... (shudders)
