Quite a few Gerry Butler fans see him as Jamie Fraser, the sexy hero of the novel Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.
I read the books and I loved them, but unfortunately don't have anyone to discuss them with. Do you think Gerry Butler should play Jamie.
Guest you can get in on this too I really don't think you have to sign up as a member to post....I may be wrong though.... don't be shy....

I for one think he should play Jamie just like a lot of people saw Clark Gable in the roll of Rhett Butler.

That video he's in, what role is that exactly? I have seen pictures of it here somewhere and he looks totally hot.

The videos that try to picture GB as Jamie Fraser are using mostly parts of two of his movies. "Attila" and "Beowulf". Long, auburn hair, warrior's armour and horse riding are helping a lot our imagination...

Leppard you really need to read these books they are past awesome. They pull you in. As far as I'm concered Gerard Butler is Jamie Fraser.
One of the only thing that bummed me out was that she made Ian homely.....He has an absolutely gorgeous uncle, his mother, Jamie's sister I am assuming is attactive yet she still made him homely. I don't know why that bothered me.

I loved them, but they may not be for everyone. Well historical romance is my fav and I usually like fantasy and some sci-fi but there is one set of books that most people read and I didn't like them and that is The Hobbit. I read the whole book and I kept waiting for it to get better but it never did...........<think in a raspy voice> My Precious...... Outlander really captured my imagination. I fell in love with Jamie, but I must say I liked Claire just as well. I would totally get mad at him when he would pull crap and then you would discover he always had a good reason but yet I would still be mad at him even after she forgave him. I felt like Claires friend.

Now, let's talk about The Hobbit ! Not my fav at all, merely consinder it "adolesence stuff' yet i saw all the three movies of LOTR. Still i was mocking for ever a friend of me who even if he's on his 30s he walks aroung carrying and reading some of the "brick-books " of the series. Surprise ! I found myself late this spring carrying one of the "brick- books" of the Outlander saga. Never judge anyone, ladies....You never know.....
I'm in "Drums of automn" right now. Promise i'll come back later this day to discuss about my new obsession - James Alexander Malcom Mckenzie Fraser, that is.....

Ewwwww do come back...I love Jamie....I still get a little heart sick when I watch the above videos. I never thought I would feel that way about a fictional character.
Geeze Gabaldon makes her characters so real though. I do hair and I would tell all my clients....you have to read these books! Her Characters are so real she even discusses their bodily functions. They even have trouble with constipation and Jamie stays regular because his big bowl of Oatmeal or what ever that stuff he eats in the morning is....LOL! Now that is bringing a character to life!!!!!

I'm baaaack! Well, actually i don't know if you have read the whole saga, Dianne, or part of it. I'm in the beginning of "Drums of Automn" and it's only out of pure Jamie Fraser devotion that i will probably struggle my way the whole 1000+ pages following my favorite couple through an unbelievable trip to the American wildernes. It's all too much. Even in the previous book shortly after Jamie's and Claire's reunion i sort of start losing interest. Even if DG did a fine job in mantaining our interest with putting Giele Duncun, there were so many parts that simply seemed too much. The Chinese man, the Caribbean islands, the zombie legends..... Now i'm afraid that our couple will eventually have some refreshments with The Sitting Bull and other exceptional members of the Indian tribe. And our heroes i'm afraid are a bit too old to make all this venturing believable.....I risked to take a look at the last pages of THIS book i'm now, and saw the really interesting twist that DG gives on her story. She's indeed a skilled narrator, yet the saga seems to be infinitive and the books she's on now, won't be the last one, alas ! I'm not sure she's making it for the story rather or she's just feeding the hen which laids the golden eggs..... However.....I'm a huge fan of the first 2 and a half books of her....Really great historic fictions ! I will probably read the stuff till the end, yet it will be out of pure devotion and determination rather than exciting. To tell you the truth, i simply can't have enough of Jamie Fraser...

Absolutely about Jamie....I am sadly in love with Jamie, this fictional character. Is that sad or what? I really was amazed by Gerry in the Phantom and them after reading outlander and those few videos done by fans....that pushed me over the edge to terrible lust for Gerry....It's Jamies fault, all Jamie's fault.
Anyway I did read all of the books and loved all except the very last one. The last one was good but I didn't like what happened to Lizzy and also I am not overly crazy about another twist I can't go into because its a spoiler. I also feel the book was slightly sloppy toward the end like she was on a deadline.

Allright, i'm not going even to ask who Lizzie was - my first thought was "Lizzie Bennet ?!" Go figure ! Anyway, i'm afraid it's all about money and selling for Mrs GB, right now.... I dream that someday a movie or tv series will come out of this, yet can't see another Jamie than Gerard. And i don't mean his appearance, i mean his strength, and leading power, his sense of humor and his ability to protect the ones he cares for..... I'm sure Gerard could be make it to the perfection !

Okay so is Jamie's and Claire's story like an ongoing issue. What I mean is that they don't stay together in the first book? She I don't like when its about starcrossed lovers. Things keeping them apart and crap. I want them to be together in the end and then the rest of the saga's be about their family or friends and they make brief appearances. She that's what I am vibing from The twilight stories. I want to read them but I hate the drama. Uhhhhhh! I still haven't read Twilight. And now I have to search my put away books for the Outlander. Ahhhh the stress.
