According to this article Gary Oldman and Amber Heard are nolonger attached to Motor City... www.variety.com/article/VR1118055187Dark Castle moves into 'Loft' Joel Silver will exec produce thriller By Jeff Sneider Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment banner has acquired Anonymous Content's infidelity thriller "Loft." It has yet to be determined whether the film will be released through Warner Bros., where Dark Castle is currently based, or Universal, where Silver just inked a 12-picture distribution deal. Silver will now be credited as an exec producer on "Loft" along with Andrew Rona and Steve Richards. Additionally, Dark Castle is currently in production on "Getaway," a thriller that will star Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez. Details on that project were not immediately available. Dark Castle is currently working with Emmett/Furla Films on Albert Hughes' actioner "Motor City," which has Gerard Butler attached to star, though Gary Oldman and Amber Heard are no longer involved with the project. As for "Loft," the Erik Van Looy-directed pic is an English-language remake of his own 2008 Belgian film. Edgy indie follows five married friends who share a loft where each brings his mistress. When the dead body of an unknown woman is found there, they begin to suspect one another of murder. Wentworth Miller, James Marsden, Karl Urban, Eric Stonestreet and Matthias Schoenaerts star alongside Rhona Mitra, Isabel Lucas, Rachael Taylor, Margarita Levieva and Kristin Lehman. Wesley Strick ("Doom") adapted Bart De Pauw's original screenplay. Anonymous Content's Steve Golin, Paul Green, Matt DeRoss and Adam Shulman produced along with original "Loft" producer Hilde DeLaere of Belgian banner Woestijnvis. AWE Boo! Disappointed about Gary Oldman. Just heard on the news that more money has been found in the Michigan budget to put into movie making. Maybe our Governor saw the mistake he made. Gives me hope that the movie could be shot here.

I wonder if he will even be at the premieres for Mavericks and Playing the Field. If he keeps flying to the USA for them while shooting in Berlin that will cost a lot of time. Has he ever had 2 premieres while shooting a movie?

s it was announced by Variety... blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/gary-oldman-amber-heard-depart-from-albert-hughes-motor-city-20120611Gary Oldman & Amber Heard Exit Albert Hughes' 'Motor City' Albert Hughes just can't catch a break with casting for his latest effort, "Motor City." After a lengthy search for a male lead that saw names like Chris Evans, Dominic Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal and Jeremy Renner all linked before Gerard Butler jumped on board, the project has now hit another wall, losing its villain and female lead. Variety report that Gary Oldman and Amber Heard have now both departed the Dark Castle project for reasons unknown, though we imagine the delayed schedule may be to blame (lensing was originally slated to begin in the spring). This summer, Heard is set to shoot Robert Rodriguez's "Machete Kills" while Oldman has Robert Luketic's "Paranoia" on deck (and likely press rounds for "The Dark Knight Rises"). It's yet another setback but it's definitely still moving forward for Hughes with Variety noting that Dark Castle are "currently working" on it. Scripted by Chad St. John, the 2009 Black List script follows a small time crook who is framed and sent to jail, then seeks revenge on those who put him there. Most notable, though, is that the protagonist played by Butler apparently only has one line of dialogue throughout the whole film. Interestingly, the film will mark Hughes' first solo effort behind the camera, in the past having teamed with twin brother Allen on films such as "The Book Of Eli" and "From Hell," as well their memorable debut feature "Menace II Society." Allen is also cooking up his own solo effort, the similarly titled "Broken City," which (as far as we know) has had an easier ride with casting. The film will star Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kyle Chandler, Barry Pepper and Jeffrey Wright for the "Chinatown"-esque tale of a private investigator hired for simple infidelity case who goes onto uncovers shady real estate deals and city corruption.

I am so upset about this film's casting falling apart for Gerry. He so wanted to work with Gary Oldman. Makes you wonder if the film will see that end of the September start date.

This is killing me. I was hoping the first reports about the loss of Oldman were wrong. This movie seems to have such great potential for Gerry, playing to his strengths--particularly if they keep his dialog to a minimum--and offering something quite special. Will he still be interested now?
I don't agonize over G's girlfriends or the nightclubs, but the career stuff? I'm going around with a serious knot in my stomach with the lack of positive news and the two movies he was to be filming soon without announced cast.
The man gives me such joy with his life and his movies and I want things to go well for him and give him happiness and satisfaction in his pursuits. I have spent the last week immersed in multiple viewings of Coriolanus and Machine Gun Preacher and am in awe once again at his ability to convey the soul of the characters he plays. I'm moved to tears by these two quite different performances of this fine actor. He is just amazing and gives so much. I'm blathering, but. . . . I'm sure I'm not alone in what I'm feeling.

I feel the same way, I never agonize over his private life either, it is his career that has me always worried. Delays, projects announced then they never see the light of day, I know Hollywood works this way but an actor needs to be in-demand and his projects need to be released. I hope he gets to do Motor City, it looked to be an very interesting project. but it won't be the same without Gary Oldman DARN
