SL, that is so scary and I certainly hope it isn't true!! But I do have to agree, Gerry does look like something is truly bothering him! In some of his pictures, especially at the awards ceremony, he looked like his mind was a million miles away! Wouldn't you sometimes just love to get inside his head and see exactly what is going on in there? I NEVER remember him having a body guard until lately! There are some pretty crazy people out there, though!! Kneum

Thanks for all the coverage ladies. I am thrilled he won this award and he looks pretty darn happy about it too. I do wonder if he's singing or yelling this is sparta in that one shot with the mike. He does look tired and like he needs a rest. I hope nothing as bad as a stalker is going on but something seems to be wrong with him.
As for the actress who won the award, that's not her in the boat. That looks like it's the night of the awards and she was in a white dress. Just my view of it.
I do hope he's off to rest in Scotland soon.

I think a dose of mom and Scottish air is exactly what Gerry needs right now. There were no sightings from today, right? He was probably traveling. Gerry is a very emotional person which makes him even more attractive. We always know when he is happy as he was just a couple of months ago and we always know when something is bothering him. Unfortunately fame comes with a dark side and I hope whatever is bothering him will be in the past soon. I wonder if all that maybe too early Oscar buzz is on his mind. You know how much he wants that critical acclaim but the movie isn't even out. I can only imagine how worried he must be that once the movie is out what the reaction of the critics, academy and public will be. Sometimes this early buzz is not good because expectations are through the roof... Lets hope Gerry has a nice stay in Europe away from the craziness of Hollywood and gather strength for the things to come this fall and winter with award season because he is going to need it. Gerry, we fans are here for you! And yes, he had tears in his eyes at the gals convention in Vegas. I was there and can confirm it. There were some very emotional moments unfolding in front of our eyes there.

Yes, SD, I was thinking the exact same thing, he was either singing or yelling "This is Sparta" (or Ischia maybe).

GA I too wonder if the hype about his acting is bothering him. I think he may be staying away from hyped movies because it stresses him out. 300 stressed him out. POTO stressed him out. He said when Atilla was coming out he began smoking again due to stress.
I hope he will calm down somehow and not let the world get to him so much. I think he's running himself ragged as well which can't be healthy. I wish he'd do some meditating and find some peaceful time away from the rat race of Hollywood. Which is why Scotland will be good for him.

It really amazes me how wonderfully talented Gerry is as an actor on screen, yet in real life his true emotions are written all over his face!! There is just no hiding it! I think he used to practice meditation or at least he talked about it in some interview. It's probably very difficult for him to sit still long enough to meditate, but I certainly think it would do him some good! Hopefully, Scotland will be just what he needs to get recharged for the extremely busy months that lay ahead of him! It's going to be a super crazy fall and winter! Kneum

My opinion only coming up .... not that anyone cares but I'm giving it anyway .... There is definitely something different about Gerry since he came back from Shreveport. Even right up to June 15th when he was at the APJ Event he seems ok. It was right after that when it seemed something happened in his life that set him back a bit. There is no way of knowing what it is, and I think it's dangerous to start saying things like he's being stalked or someone died or whatever. We don't know that the "security guard" was protecting him or just a buddy who just got off work and was still in his uniform. While it's not off the scale of what could happen, it makes me nervous to read too much into photographs we know nothing about. He could have had a break up, we don't know if he was seeing someone or not. Secondly, it doesn't look like he was crying to me. For God's sake he just got out of the ocean. I think he looks pissed off that he got caught smoking. I'm sorry that I'm pointing fingers here, but SL your post gives me pause for concern about speculating too much. As for the smoking, it's better than the alternative (again, Charlie Sheen anyone?). I don't think he's drinking, and like someone said, he would have been photographed with a drink in his hand if that were the case. I personally think the other day was due to over-exhaustion and sun exposure. He's not used to being that close to the equator and we all know he doesn't use sunscreen (like a dummy). He rested and looked much better and brighter for his award ceremony. Maybe all the pressure and Oscar talk is getting to him. I've always gotten the impression Gerry is the type of guy who sees how far he's come and says "What the fuck am I doing here?" I have a feeling he gets overwhelmed sometimes. We like to think Gerry is like Superman, but he's not. He's a human being who is very self-deprecating to a fault sometimes. He is humble and insecure, and too many times people forget that. I honestly believe he's completely overwhelmed. When I read what he said to Theresa about why he was smoking again, it made total sense. How could all that NOT get to someone? I hope beyond hope he gets to go home to Scotland, or wherever, and disappear for a few weeks. I hope he can take some time off practicing surfing and just be as much of a regular guy as he can. I can live without seeing a picture of him for a few weeks if it means he'll be at peace with himself. I just needed to get that out. We all agree something is off, and we're all concerned - no doubt. But I think reading too much into a moment in time of a few photos is a dangerous thing to do, especially when our posts are completely public to all the weirdos out there. All that being said, I think he looks fucking amazing! Mrs. B

I think I have to totally agree with you Mrs B. It is so easy to make assumptions and draw conclusions from photos that are a split second frozen in time, and I have been a bit guilty of that too. If you look back through all the recent photos you will probably find just as many 'happy' as 'sad and stressed' looking ones. I haven't been a Gerry-follower for very long but in this short time I have seen many expressions on his face, and I tend to think that unless I was actually there when the pic was taken, I don't really know what was going on. And he must feel just bombarded by the press, so no wonder there are a few scowls amongst the smiles. The only person we know who has been present with Gerry in the past week commented that he appeared to be very busy in Ischia, possibly a bit tired and confused, admitted to being stressed, but was gracious and generous with his time. I like to think that he will soon be breathing in the pure fresh air of the Scottish highlands, eating some nourishing, nurturing home-cooked meals and being taken care of by those who love him the most.

All film festivals are business in one sense, even if you don't have a film showing, esp now that Gerry is a producer one is always prepared to new contacts, possible financial backers, scripts, projects, roles maybe even meet new actors you might consider casting yourself, whatever. Unortunately this festival didn't seem to be that well organised or provide such opportunities. Very few people there that could be useful to Gerry. Most important person was Paul Haggis I believe and they are already friends. Trudy Styler was nice but I don't think she is that inluential in the film industry and Sting was there mainly to support his daughter who is embarking on a music career.

In this photo you see him a bit wrinkled or tired, because he just woke up at that moment, although it is early afternoon ... In fact, that morning, he would have had to conference with Haggis, but unfortunately we dropped him from the room because he was sleeping. the night before he went to bed very late at 4 am ... direct sources (the person who was present at the event) told me that he had not been drinking, only its usual tonic water, usually he was the joker wanted to have fun dancing and singing (let my fire lol) .. . quiet, he does not drink:) He was just tired of the long evening of fun that had been

I was catching up with the messages and then I was going to write the same thing too (given we have the same sources :-) ). First of all I agree with what Mrs B and Fifi mentioned and if I were to go only by what I saw on Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning I would be a bit worried but things did brigthen up from Monday evening on. Fifi mentioned the word "confused", maybe I have too, I don't remember, but the word I would use now is "preoccupied". This is how he looked to the fans who were there. We were a bit worried when he did not show up for the seminar but we later found out that the party went on until 4 o'clock so that explains it a bit. Also let me stress that the festival lacked in certain organisational areas (I am being very polite here) and everyone's understanding by Tuesday was that maybe Gerry did not find it to be what he had expected. This is probably another reason for not attending the seminar. There were very few students at the seminar and the standard was low, my understanding was that their teacher didn't help them much. Let me give you an example: they were supposed to set up a 15 minute film in one week. By Monday they only had a rough idea of the story and nothing much else. When Paul Haggis and Trudy Styler asked them if they had set up responsibilities and roles, they said it was a collective work! You should have seen the faces of poor Paul and Trudy while they were trying not to hide their shock but still be polite and ecouraging to the students. Apparently no one had pointed out the basics to the poor kids, i.e. you need a producer, a director and a writer before you do anything else. Otherwise you don't have a film. Mind you, Paul and Trudy were wonderful and that was an interesting seminar, even without Gerry. Of course one can only imagine what it would have been like if he had attended, but it is what it is. We saw David Meister later at the lobby and he confirmed that Gerry was fine. David was not aware of the seminar which made us think that maybe it was originally announced by the organisers that Gerry would attend but it didn't work out in the end and they did not update the program. Gerry did some interviews in the afternoon but things were running late and he ended up not having enough time for many questions. But he did do as many as time would allow. His spirits did seem to lift up towards the evening. There were some lovely Italian fans who met him at around 8 o'clock outside the hotel and went to talk to him and he was very accommodating. They were a bit apologetic because they already had some photos from Sunday night but wanted a couple more and he was very nice to them, he even said (in a very sexy deep voice), don't worry, don't worry. One of the girls had a Phantom tatoo on her lower leg and when he saw it he was very very excited. He went all funny and goofy and got on his knees and hugged the leg and had his photo taken like that! The girl almost died as you can imagine. The photos are to die for! He also had a few more photos with them and he was smiling and looking happy and delicious. The girls promised to upload them soon on the Italian site; you'll see that all is well in Butlerdom when you see them. Let me add here that even on Sunday when he did the meet and greet with the fans, his face really lit up when the little Italian girl told him in English that she loved the Phantom and when we told him we loved Coriolanus. He was asking, did you really enhoy it and was all different at once. From what I have been told, he was also in good spirits at the award ceremony. He talked a lot about his great working relationship with Gabrielle Muccino. He said there were many fights because Gabrielle sees things one way and Gerry another but he said that these fights were very productive and he was very proud of the result of their collaboration. Gerry also mentioned how the award he received back in 2004 broke before he even got home and that he only arrived home with the base of it. It was a coral or coral shaped and too fragile to travel. He said he hoped the new would make the trip. LOL! During the event he was surrounded by a lot of ladies (surprise, surprise). He was funny and polite but this is were it stopped (big change from 2004, maybe our boy is maturing). The brunette lady from the yacht was there too and pursuing him big time but nothing came out of it. He did not seem interested in anyone in particular as far as onlookers could tell. To be honest, from what we saw, there was a surprising lack of Gerrymates (as in long legged women in late 20s, early 30s with tanned skin, long black hair and looking natural) . One would have assumed there would be many in and Italian festival but no, not from what we saw. About the drinking question, I only saw him drinking some soda water or sparkling water with a lemon twist and I heard others say the same thing, really nothing to worry about, I really don't see why people start rumours like that. All in all, I guess Gerry may have something on his mind lately that has put pressure on him, Mrs B and Fifi analysed this and it makes sense, but I don't think it is something really serious. He just needs some rest and mom's food and to be away from the spotlight for a few days.

I think Mrs. B got it exactly right. We should not read too much into those pics. Yes, we all speculate but I've been a Gerry fan for a long time and I have seen him in moods like this before and he'll come out of it. I don't think anybody is ill in his family, otherwise he would have flown there right away. So I really wouldn't worry about that. I think he's just pre-occupied with his career. I don't think we can even imagine how psyched up he must be over the oscar buzz.... in a good and bad way and probably changing hourly... One moment he's probably excited and then again worried that maybe the movie won't live up to the hype... who knows... Plus the learning to surf and the dieting and getting/ staying in shape... Lots of things to occupy his mind.

PS.. one more thing... a lot of actors are very emotional, insecure and sensitive. I think you need to be for the job to be able to relate to a character. If you watch other actors closely you probably will notice similar mood swings as in Gerry.
