A sequel to RocknRolla would be awesome. I think that the plot was a little too complicated for the general population, but Guy Richie's quirky films have gained a lot more in popularity since Sherlock Holmes. I would love to see Gerry as a villain in a Sherlock Holmes sequel. Can you imagine Gerry with Jude and Robert? And I'm ready to see Gerry as a gangster and maybe something really dark like a serial killer. The world needs to see what a great actor Gerry really is, so time to stay away from the rom coms.

Great idea canuckeh, did you know Gerry was up for a role in Sherlock Holmes and he turned it down I can't remember but I think it was the Jude Law role, now isn't Mark Strong coming back for the sequel for Sherlock?

I could be wrong, but I think it was the part as Sherlock Holmes, Gerry turned down... I hope MGP will get Gerry the credit he deserves, but something dark, or drama would be great now. The serial killer idea sounds great, he was awesome in LAC, and even when he was completely nuts at the end, I was still saying, You go Gerry! Weird. I think I am biased to Gerry. I agree, Canuckeh, he needs to stay away from the Rom Coms for a while now.

yep unless it is written like the old days of Hepburn and Tracy but even still ban on romcoms until Gerry bumps out Clooney and Pitt and Depp from their spots in the A list, LOL..oh so Gerry was up for Sherlock - definitely would have been a very different movie, couldn't see Gerry as sidekick anymore...

OMG! yes, i'd have to agree to all of this esp. between ancient to space age. gerry is so fittingly made for roles of antiquity.... (beowulf & grendel, 300, upcoming burns....he really has that appeal) and (personally LOVE sci-fi...well done) gerry again fits very well into the imagery of futuristic warrior-hero roles (gamer, timeline). Dianne - i think you are SO right about adrian brody not 'really' making that role work....doesn't have the stature or the 'nose' for it....gerry does. he definately would've pulled the role off so much better.......don't get me wrong LOVE adrian brody (he was very tough in 'son of sam'...that kind of macho worked well....not this)
a sequel to rocknrolla would be SUPERB...that is the kind of sarcastic dark humor with 'thinking mans action' that gerry displays great talent.
fiera! wOot! screenwriter too? YeOW girl! continue with the idea...it sounds compelling. good sci-fy IS STILL huge draw....and i really like the imagery of mixing old & new together....it sticks, it vibrates....we all can relate to the organic warmth of ancient articles now mixed with cold, metal, space-age future....(star wars, timeline...and others.....) we're familiar with the contrast and we seem to like it. awesome idea. go for it!

Yeah. I've written a few things. Only two are up, though: blog.mistymills.com/?page_id=8 -- mostly because one has a copyright and is registered and the other is something that I did for fun. I used to play a game called Producer's Chair where we would write and 'cast' movies and release them into theaters and people would vote on what they would want to see, then we'd get money off it to put into our next project. It's very dorky, I know, but it was such fun. And I LOVE sci-fi. It's my favorite genre. And Gerry can play anything and I'd watch him in it. They should put him, Michael Shanks and James Marsters in a movie all together at the same time and watch me implode with glee. Hmmm. A role on Glee perhaps?!

In Sherlock, Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong) fell and got hung on the Tower Bridge, so he won't be back. I don't think that Moriarty has been cast for the sequel, although there are rumors. And maybe there is some other bad guy. We know that Gerry is always good on the 'bad' side of the law. And, for another role, this is a stretch, but could anyone see Gerry as a lawyer? Hee hee.

if you watch the end of RocknRolla it is made clear that the Wild Bunch is to return, with perhaps Johnny Quid our crack head taking over the family business from his father Lenny.......I read elsewhere that is supposed to be part of a trilogy so not sure if Guy has it already written or what.
Actually I could see Gerry playing a lawyer. He would have made a great trial lawyer in real life - he could convinced juries of anything - if the kilt doesn't fit, you must acquit so I would love to see him playing a lawyer but either as a lawyer in a legal drama that is unique from what has already been done, or the fact he is a lawyer is not the big emphasis of the story - a thriller perhaps, a very clever suspenseful one...........
If he had hung in there long enough, a good trial lawyer has other people running around doing all the leg work and grunt work for them, and they like an actor just show up to do the star work in essence and as we have seen high profile trial lawyers often become celebrities themselves, perhaps not quite as much in the UK but I bet they still do have some notoriety, depends on your clients too as well.

If we are going to venture into TV, hmmmm, I don't see Gerry doing TV for a very long time, not in the career trajectory but in our wildest dreams but even in my wildest dreams I could only see a couple episode stint at best . How about a couple episode stint on Entourage, even as himself they do that on Entourage, Vinnie is cast in a movie with Gerry and maybe they don't get along for a variety of reasons, oh the possibilities are endless, now Mad Men would be too good to be true, some character who swoops in and make life difficult for Don Draper aka Jon Hamm, maybe someone who knows one of his many secrets or ooh Dexter, maybe as one of Dexter's targets, a villain Dexter needs to take out. Be ironic after the scene in LAC. A stint on Spartacus Blood and Sand would be too good to be true, John Hannah just uses his Scottish accent, never mind doing a Roman accent whatever that is anyway. My No. 1 favourite new show on TV now. So many half naked men so little time. Togas oh yeah. Actually I am looking very forward to the new show called The Boardwalk Empire produced by the guy who did Sopranos and Martin Scorcese, starring Steven Buscemi, about Atlantic City during prohibition, that show looks like it is going to be good. I see G on that show, again a character with just a few episode story line, spice up the show. I'm excited about that show too. I love that guy in everything he does from Wedding Singer, to Fargo, and the Sopranos, great character actor!!! And yes, I would love to see Gerry do something sexy and scary. Whether it be scifi or do another vampire movie... HOT!!!!

canadia, you said 'hung' somewhere in there - he would have been great as the lead in that series!!! I think a series should be created for him - like Dexter or something....can totally see him as a sinister character - he's so multi-faceted. Mr One-Two definitely needs reprisal, more of his arse too!

LOL KissmeGerry. Yes to have a series created esp for him would be tops. Wonder what he would love to do if he could wave a magic wand. In an article about this announcement about Brad Pitt doing this World War Z with Marc Forster, they go through various projects Brad's production company has bought and odds that Pitt will star in them himself Dark Void Odds of getting made with Pitt: 100-to-1. Plan B acquired the rights to this Capcom video game last year with Pitt rumored to star as a pilot who crashes in the Bermuda Triangle only to wake up in an alternate world. So, kinda like Lost. Still as Jake Gyllenhaal taught everyone, movies based on video games are usually a losing bet. Pitt seems smart enough to realize this. Plus, doesn’t this just sound like something that would star Gerard Butler? www.movieline.com/2010/07/know-your-brad-pitt-projects-that-will-probably-never-happen.php

I agree he would be a fab Bond - I know he says he doesn't want to get typecast but I don't see that Bond has really hurt either Daniel Craig or Pierce Brosnan and Craig was lesser known than Gerry at the time and Gerry now has a higher profile and Pierce had a high profile. Too bad the franchise is on hold for now.

I know he says he doesn't want to get typecast You notice how careful he's been in taking such different roles. He has been all over the map in genre but he still needs to do a knight. To bad him and Sean Connery hadn't done First Knight together... Two hot Scots in one movie, the more mature Connery and Gerry the young up and coming stud all in one movie? In reality though Gerry may have been in high school when this movie came out.
