It's just a shame it didn't get the promotion it deserved. So few people saw it and I think it's one of his best roles.

Did anyone else see "60 Minutes" tonight? They did a long piece on Joseph Kony and how the American Green Berets are now hunting him down along with special forces from Africa. They told of the kidnapping of children, the child soldiers......in other words, everything that MGP was about. I think the movie got pushed aside because it interfered with our government's effort to join the hunt for Kony and it was a covert operation about 18 months ago according to 60 minutes. They said it was still an "under the radar operation" and that the Green Berets were trying to keep a very low profile.
I think after they catch Kony, maybe someone will want to release that movie again? I would love to see it on the big screen.

I think with better publicity, riding on the back of the success of OHF and maybe a new title (I always thought "another. Man's war" like the book was good) it could still get the audience it deserved. It breaks my heart that Gerry put so much of his soul into this film that so few got to see.

It breaks my heart that Gerry put so much of his soul into this film that so few got to see. ladies, I am mystified and quite perplexed over the whole matter of 'machine gun preacher'. heres the thing ~ if you take a small pebble and drop it into a body of water. observe the ripples which will continue to spread all the way across to the other side of the pond. the small, wavelike pattern will meet other ripples, coexisting, connecting to other waves. 'nothing gained, if nothing ventured'. Gerry was turned onto sam childers story....'another mans war'...a real life, amazing hero, from ashes to glory....this reverends blood, sweat and tears manifested into saving lives. precious lives. Gerry brought this heroic life to full form beautifully done!! about 10 yrs ago there was ONE documentary called 'lost boys' then a few years later another called ' God grew tired of us'. these films barely saw the light of day. ((before that, there was ONE article concerning the clitoral mutilation on African girls. horrible. but, still not well known))....NOW, reverend childers book is released, world famous acter gerard makes his film, NOW - 'KONY 2012 movement'...then, governments involved with rooting out this devils shananigans (some report kony is actually dead but has last vestige in the congo)....today i picked up (4) documentaries all re: ughanda & sudan children soldiers, orphans...the 'ripple affect'....the film 'MGP' like 'CM', 'Na Nai' and 'Shadow Company' are more unique targeted films although 'MGP' was really box office material.
