A friend of mine just watched it and said it wasn't at all what he thought it would be like, despite me TELLING him about it. The marketing campaign (what there was for it, anyway) was entirely wrong.

I just finished watching MGP for the first time and it was a lot more than I expected. On the one hand I was really glad to see that there wasn't blood and gore in your face. I personally don't need that to understand or imagine what these people and kids must've looked like when they were being clubbed, shot or slashed to death. I have a vivid imagination and I'm sure what I imagined was worse than what they could've possibly shown me. Anyhow, on to the movie itself. Gerry brought everything he had to this movie. So impressed with the content and his performance. He pulled at my heartstrings countless times just watching his face contort in reaction to what he was seeing. He made me feel his "pain" from shock to horror at seeing kids being blown up, chased in the night and then not being able to help or save them all. After seeing what a strong message this film had, I'm very disappointed in the fact that very little PR was done for it and pretty much went straight to DVD. Unfortunately this only goes to show how superficial we all have become - we don't want to see it unless it's going to big a glitzy movie and will entertain us. Sometimes we need to use the media to spread the word about these atrocities. As some of you already said in earlier comments, HW is not interested if it means talking about "taboo" topics - such as real world issues that plague us. On to a "lighter" subject - Gerry himself. First of all, yowza on watching him ride that bike. I just kept imagining what it would feel like to have the wind whipping in my hair riding behind him with GB's luscious booty between my legs. Grrrr.... I had to pause also the scene when he's been sitting in the Datsun and enters the bar with those dark glasses on. And last, but not least. I'm going out on a limb here and a lot of you will probably think me a horn dog for this, but did anybody get a little hot when GB was all up in his wife's face at the beginning when she tells him she quit stripping? When he calls her "woman" and just gets up in her face about it and pins her against the counter? Anyone? Ok, maybe just pervey little ol' me - but that scene was replayed several times. Angry/intense GB does things to me and makes me want to say "it's go time baby" and then proceed on pouncing on him. Think he'd mind?

Ok good, glad to hear I was not alone on that one. I looked for your cameo and didn't see you. I remember you saying you were an extra in one of the bar scenes. Do you know if you got any camera time? Which of the bar scenes was it? I was also looking for your little orange paper in the window, but that didn't make it in the movie.

It's a shame that Relativity fell down on the promotion of MGP. I believe it was one of Gerry's best roles and I know he was so proud of it. I really felt all of the emotions he was feeling. And having been to the set, I know exactly the scene he was filming that day. Gerry had some acting chops in this movie and he was afraid he hadn't done Sam justice. I think part of the problem was the director's ambiguity about the direction of MGP. Is he a savior or does he solve problems with more violence?

It is an amazing piece of work and I was so saddened by the posts at the time that the forum members could not get to see it at their local cinemas. I still do not understand why this happened.

All I ever understood was the Ryan Kavanaugh was the reason for the nonwide distribution of the film. It never had a chance. it was a project that was close to G's heart and it broke mine that it did not get out to theaters as it should. When the Kony subject came up last year, I wrote Relativity and told them to get the film out there now and take advantage of that so people can see what is happening there with Kony. MGP should have gotten awards. This was a terrible shame. I didn't get to see it until I got it as a rental. I now own the movie. People now tweet about it and seems to have taken on its own life on DVD. I hope rental and sales shoot the figure way up in what the film makes, but do not know if it does.

I had friends in Zimbabwe and spent many of my vacations on their farm and in South Africa and know the african situation and mentality well. The once beautiful paradise like Zimbabwe has been ruined by the greed and power of one man Robert Mugabe. Hunger and diseases are everywhere. People with money and education are leaving the country. Two years ago my friends left the farm behind and live in New Zealand now. Life in Zimbabwe was to dangerous. We all hope Mugabe dies soon, so we can return someday. I really liked MGP. I don't even want to think about all the happy peoble we met and how they are living now. Ursi

You never know, one day serendipity, karma and the profits and popularity from OHF will collide and MGP will get the release it deserved!
