Oh, Dianne, I love how you describe him as cuddly - I just knew he would be! Makes you feel happy to admire someone who is genuinely kind and caring.
That photo of Gerry from the side, where he's smiling (probably at a child) is SO gorgeous! I mean, he's a handsome man, but when he smiles, he beams and his eyes just glisten! His smile amps his beauty to a whole other level!
I can't explain it, but your wonderful, never to be forgotten (by any of us, even!) encounter with Gerry has reinforced my feelings of why I think the world of him -- thank you for sharing him with us!
Okay, so on a shallow level, when you hugged, was it a full body hug? In other words, did you touch below the waist? I'm sure if you did, you'd have known it -- heh, heh...

I'm surprised he didn't reek of sweat like I did. lol! We were drenched in sweat long before then! Of course, the makeup and hair people didn't do anything hardly to him and Michael because apparently THEY DO NOT SWEAT. Meanwhile I'm sweating like a pig, it's pouring off me and they had to keep fixing my hair and makeup and even had to get me a portable fan at one point. I felt like a high maintenance diva or something, but it helped because they were spending so much time fixing me between takes from the sweat and the fan cut down on me sweating a LOT.
I was giddy when he went over to sign stuff. I told him earlier that people had been mobbed out there all day and some had signs and I knew some of the people out there. He said it's still kind of weird and I said 'Yeah, I totally hate it when people stand outside my work holding signs about how much they love me' and he laughed and I dunno but he might have blushed a little, too. He seems very humbled that people would want HIS picture and HIS autograph.
Very nice man!

Yay, Fiera! How did your day go (other than all the sweating)? Saw your picture with Dianne. You look great, but you can tell it was sweltering that day! Can't wait to see you in the film!

OMG!! This is the best thread ever! Mission accomplished Dianne - I echo what everyone says. Just reinforces why we adore him so much. He is a great man on and off the screen. He is being catapulted into stardom yet remains down to earth. He makes everyone feel great - from you, to the little girl, to the little 5 year old boy. I'm sure he would have something nice to say to everyone if he had the time. He is busy working, but takes time out, shuts up the security guard, and proceeds to amaze us all. What more could we ask? Dianne, you did it. He's got you in his personal collection!! How frakking amazing is that? I'm sure he takes away from these experiences what we would. He's adored, he's humbled, he's grateful, and he simply rocks! He's just the right combination of everything.
I really can't wait for him to find that special someone to share everything with (if he wants it too, that is). Whoever that may be, will be the luckiest woman alive. The challenge is, because of his fame, there are challenges. Still, can't wait to see him on that level.
GERRY WE LOVE YOU DAHLING!!

It's Gerry's caring for his fans (among other things) that makes me disbelieve all the negative tabloid/press about him. They have made him out to be someone he is not. The real Gerry is the one his co-stars and crew know...the Gerry who is considerate and good hearted. Not a self centered diva who is only out for himself. Not saying he is perfect. Not saying he doesn't have his bad moments. I'm sure he can be a complete jerk (like most men)...but the good in him far outweighs the bad. I'm glad you got to meet him up close and personal, Dianne. There is just something about him in the flesh that no photo or film can capture. That's why everyone who meets him says he is soooo much more gorgeous in person. It's the blood pumping in his veins and the brightness of his eyes that is somehow lost in one dimensional media.
When you see him in person, you really get a sense of his passionate nature, and when you see his eyes...you can just feel the energy and his unquenchable lust for life!

Oh, Dianne -- that DAMN sign is precious to us all -- don't EVER speak unkindly of it, LOL!! Okay, in the case of coming between you and the goods - that's another story!
He just sounds so wonderful and humble and by what he said to Misty, I know he thinks of himself as just a guy who makes movies for a living, and what's the big deal, etc. It must be strange when people cry and get all emotional when they meet him. The kind words and hugs are the fun part! But if he only knew how much it meant for everyone to be near him yesterday and all the days before that -- he'd be floored! It's an act of kindness for him, but it is so incredibly wonderful for those on the receiving end. I hope he never has to be cut off from those of us who admire and adore him for who he is -- I think he'd really miss it!
And he blushed? My love has grown even more - I'm a blusher, too!
I can't get over the fact that the guys didn't sweat -- weird!!

Sigh.....keep writing girls, I'm soaking it all up. We can never say enough about our Gerry. He's a regular guy, albeit a stunning hunk, with a sense of humor, a good heart, cheeky by nature, and a true talent. He was never always in the business, or grew up in it - his previous life led to this and he really does appreciate his good fortune. The media is a whore! ha ha But we all rely on it just the same. This stuff here on the boards these past few days is priceless - nowhere will we find this kind of intimate coverage of the man on the set, with his co workers and crew, and his fans. Just so lucky to have been able to share with you this magic that is Mr Butler.
And that sign Dianne was your golden ticket lady!!

And I forgot to mention Dianne that was one really cool sign. So this is what scrapbooking skills can do for one? The lettering was flawless, elegant, classy.
I have only ever made signs once for a concert, a friend and I went crazy, we made too many signs, we only used a few, the band was a bit tense, it was their biggest crowd in years, so a bit less receptive than usual and after seeing Di's sign, my signs were even more awful than I thought at the time. And I ended up feeling so stupid. My friend and I were both fans of the one guitarist so we thought signs about his beloved guitars would be the ticket to get his attention, she was supposed to hold up one sign and I the other but it didn't work out in the excitement but my sign did work, something about We love the Marlin [which is the nickname of one of his guitars] he saw it, smiled, I almost died then but he pointed at the guitar and then himself and mouthed but what about me - as in do you love me too or just the guitar and I turned burgundy I am sure. I though oh my I have insulted him. Probably not he was just being funny but I thought oh my I have insulted him. That was the start and end of my sign days though that band would as a rule respond to signs and often bring them up on stage. Another friend of mine had a sign with working Xmas lights on it, the battery operated kind, after security determined it wasn't a bomb it got on stage and therefore in a lot of photos and videos. this is a coup in music fandom.
So if I ever get brave again I know Dianne is the go to person.

Dianne: I'm so happy for you! I know how much you wanted to meet him and you had even told me you would be happy if you could get an autograph and this is way better than just an autograph.
