The biggest Pacific swell in years hit Hawaii (forty foot waves), and held onlookers spellbound. The same swell is due to hit Half Moon Bay, this weekend, and the Mavericks competition is on! They will even be televising the immense waves and surfing. Possibly a chance for the camera crew of Point Break to get some amazing footage? Also an excellent PR opportunity to raise interest in the new film? Even an appearance by Mr B?? Maybe? Hmmm....... oh wow. got an email from friend who lived in hawaii...these waves are gigantic, tremendous, stupendous huge!!! laird hamilton, big wave rider from the film 'riding giants, lives on hawaii. a 2nd wave film by gerry? *~* okay, lets take it! : )

Thanks SD schmoesknow.com/exclusive-sam-claflin-to-play-johnny-utah-in-point-break-remakeWell big news still keeps on coming with the yet to be green-lit Point Break remake. First, THR reported that Gerard Butler was in talks to take over the role of Bodhi that Patrick Swayze made famous and now there is some brand new juicy news. We had heard that there was some interest in actors such as Chris Pine and Taylor Kitsch to play Johnny Utah, originally played by Keanu Reeves. Now we are hearing that they are very interested in Sam Claflin for the role. Yup, Finnick himself. Now, I checked around and heard that they are very interested in Claflin to play Utah and think he has the chops to carry the movie. Again, this movie hasn’t even been given the green light yet and I am not sure if Claflin is a big enough name to get the big wigs to fork over the cash. None the less, he impressed the hell out of me in Catching Fire and I was doubting him when I heard he was cast. For those of you who don’t know, the film is about a hot shot FBI agent who has to infiltrate a group of bank robbing surfers. Claflin and Butler together in a remake of one of the most popular 90′s action flicks? Hmmmm. I am intrigued. The script was written by Kurt Wimmer and it will be directed by Ericson Core. www.imdb.com/name/nm3510471/He's a cutie!

Interesting news if they cast this guy, he is a cutie but I see shades of Chasing Mavericks and Gerry having to carrying a film without another well known actor. Also with this pick it looks like the producers are trying to appeal to that important teen audience but the problem it is with a movie that is not based on a teen fiction books. I hope they pick a younger actor that is more well-known outside of the teen fiction novel movies. Oh,what do I know LOL

Hollywood Reporter did mention that London Has Fallen wasn't going to be film until the end of the year when they announced Gerry was in talks for PB. Looks like they were right with this news.
I wonder if Gerry and cast will be going to all or any of those locations or just the second team to film some extreme sports segments for the film. The way they make movies today they probably will film in locations with the cast that are "stand-in" for cost reasons. They will probably travel to a few locations though for a few days. Bet this movie takes over 3 months to film.

It seems they are changing the name of the FBI agent from Johnny Utah to Billy Dalton, so the film will be different right there. I think they need to change the name of the film since it will be different from the first PB. I have a very good friend who lives in Malta...she would die if Gerry came to Malta. Evidently there are a number of movies that film in Malta.

Now it's official! Hooray! I hope they make this reboot really well so the young folks will want to see it! The older ones seem to be against it if they loved the original. I am thrilled Gerry has 2 projects lined up this year. I also think he'll enjoy being on projects where he's just an actor and not a producer for awhile. I imagine being both is exhausting. Mostly....we may get to see Gerry walking around in a wetsuit again! YEAH!

Never heard of this actor or any of the other actors being considered, but the other actors did have higher profile resumes. I guess in the end it will be "the extreme sport concept" and international settings that will appeal to those who never saw PB to make comparisons.
