I have met Gerard Butler a few times now, and I have to tell you… He is so nice. It’s hard to always make time for people, but he’s one of the rare ones who, when he can, always takes time out for people.

Gerard was filming a talk show taping and CB being the huge 300 fan he is. Headed out to try and meet him. Now, I haven’t gone out to try and meet Gerard lately, but I’m sure I will in the near future. He is King Leonidas after all! LOL…

Well, today I was going after one on my favorites again, the great Gerard Butler! I’ve met him before and he was super nice. Everyone on the MTFB family likes Gerard, but I’m such a big fan of 300 I will always make the effort when he’s out and everywhere he is, you can hear woman’s gasps. See, no celebrity has a more devoted fan base than Gerard Butler, and those fans love them their Gerry! They are everywhere he is and Gerard makes the effort to always greet them. So he was in town doing a talk show appearance and I had a great 300 picture made and went along my merry way to hopefully meet King Leonidas once again! FOR SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SPARTANS, PREPARE FOR GLORY! I arrive to the venue and I am greet by some friends. We are all here for the same person, but the problem is Gerard usually signs leaving, rarely going in. Still, I decided to try my luck, and sure enough, a few minutes later, he shows up! He signs 1 for each of us and then goes inside.



He’s so nice to his fans, I really wish my celebrities were like him. So now that he signs, I decided i want to leave, but then my buddy calls and says he wants to try for him leaving since he missed him going in. I had an extra photo and decided to stick it out.

THIS IS MADNESS……THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAAAAA! So as I’m waiting, I’m joined by the amazing Pinky from Pretty In Pink and the infamous Sam Trammell wall.

(Editor’s Note: What? Did Pinky bring her wall with her to meet Gerard Butler? M-)

I show Pinky photos from him going in and I don’t think i can say what she said, but she loves her Gerard! So we all wait and we see the SUV pull up, and its him. We are all lined up behind a barricade single filed so no pushing or shoving, and he comes over and greets everyone.



He takes at least 20 minutes with us talking with people, showing up videos, hugging his girls, and being simply amazing.

Stars need fans more than fans need them[/size]

To make it in Hollywood long-term requires not only an excellent agent but also incredible fans. This past November the loyal fans of Gerard Butler lobbied extensively to have wider distribution of his film Machine Gun Preacher. The campaign was organized by his fan groups at a grass roots level. For a few years now, Gerard Butler fans have demonstrated being one of the most dedicated groups around. Fans make the difference at the box office. Ticket sales are ultimately what counts. With the Awards season upon us, a few other fandoms are stirring up interest in their celebrity hero. Remember when Ryan Gosling fans posted a petition online to have him replace Bradley Cooper as the 'Sexiest Man Alive'? Not only did Gosling fans rally for him but they voiced their upset outside the offices of People Magazine in New York.

The Golden Globes are just days away. There is a lot of anticipation for who will win what. Probably some of the most excited fans these days are those that belong to Michael Fassbender. The actor has been enjoying "IT" status since being chosen as man of the year in both GQ and Playlist. While his fans cannot directly affect his performance at the Golden Globes they are still trying to make it known that he is a star to be reckoned with.

Despite his heightened profile the actor does not have any official social media sites. He does not have a Twitter, Facebook, or an official website. The most prominent fan pages belong to Michael Fassbender Online at michael-fassbender.net. This website was begun a few years ago by his American fans and grew steadily. He also has another American based fan site called Fassinating Fassbender at www.fassinatingfassbender.com.

Michael Fassbender Online wants the world to know how many people want to see more of him. The more the public demands him the likelier he is to be cast in major productions. In anticipation of the upcoming Golden Globes 2012, Michael Fassbender Online is campaigning to have 7000 "likes" on their Facebook page and 3000 twitter followers.

These numbers are modest but still substantial if they grow exponentially in the next year. Not only do they indicate the level of press possibilities that the actor represents to publicists but it gives a broad estimate of his increasing box office power. Fassbender is still very new. He has only achieved this status in the last two years. The next few years are crucial for him to establish his place in Hollywood. There have been many rising stars that burned so bright in the beginning but faded away almost instantly. This campaign by Michael Fassbender Online could be a boost of confidence for studio executives to realize the monetary star power of the actor.

One thing is clear: having such passionate and creative fans at the beginning of your career is a strong indication of what lies ahead.
