Fifi found this www.omgnews.com.au/baldy-mcconaughey/OMG, please no bald Gerry...sob, sob. Especially since he has the most beautiful curls right now. Maybe Matthew just didn't want to be out curled by Gerry M looks horrible in those pics, not a good look for him. Hope it will suit Gerry better, well, I know it will... Yet I am a bit scared Let's hope that's just for McConaughey's character. I mean, I'd be okay if he went back to short hair but bald would just about kill me.

So does this mean Gerry can hang onto his locks until then or will he even need to cut his hair if they wear those goofy black suits for motion capturing......and we know why Louisiana, the tax incentives but why Baton Rouge. Another spring/summer in the other LA for Gerry. I wonder then if this means Hunter Killer, if they get their OK from Alaska, will go in the fall, you want it cold but not too cold.

Someone had found some cool photos of what it looks like making a motion capture film like Avatar was and Sam Worthington will be an old hand at this having done this before. I think the 300 technology would be considered old school by now. Will try to dig up those photos. According to IMDB Pro, the movie is in preproduction but with this kind of film they really have already been working on the graphics etc. I see they have cast some of the Iraqis now and an actor named Brian Presley? Interesting Brian Presley is also one of the producers. Director Simon West Writer Ken Nolan - any relation to Chris? Production Companies Freedom Films www.freedomfilmsllc.com/Graphic Film Company - these guys are the motion capture people www.thegraphicfilmcompany.com/they already have distributors lined up for Turkey and Dubai?? Roberson Public Relations is the film's PR agency and these are the military consultants being used on the film www.musaconsulting.com

But if OHF is suppose to be next according to GALS, then when will TR be filmed I wonder. I have family in BR & one of them does set dressing - being CGI - not sure they would need one. Curious.

Well hard to say whether Gerry is still committed to Thunder Run. Despite the clarification I still feel like his precise filming schedule is very much fluid as they say as in still not confirmed/prone to change. IMDB relies on third parties to update and so sometimes updates are very slow to come by and sometimes updates are not correct.

Thanks Shellie! www.ramascreen.com/gerard-butler-sam-worthington-and-matthew-mcconaugheys-thunder-run-lands-pa-deal-for-domestic-distributionGerard Butler, Sam Worthington And Matthew McConaughey’s THUNDER RUN Lands P&A Deal For Domestic Distribution FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GERARD BUTLER, SAM WORTHINGTON & MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY’S UPCOMING EPIC ACTION PIC “THUNDER RUN” TO HAVE WIDE THEATRICAL RELEASE FREEDOM FILMS PARTNERS WITH PARADOX ENTERTAINMENT TO FINANCE SIMON WEST DIRECTED CG 3-D FILM Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park to Handle International Sales LOS ANGELES, CA – May 15, 2012 –Freedom Films CEO, Brian Presley is proud to announce the closing of a substantial domestic P&A financing arrangement days prior to Cannes for the CG 3-D action thriller “Thunder Run.” The film will be co-financed by Presley’s Freedom Films and CEO Fred Malmburg’s company, Paradox Entertainment with Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington and Matthew McConaughey starring. Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park International is handling sales at Cannes during the upcoming Marche du Film. VFX production has already begun on the CG 3-D film with principal photography set to begin this Summer. Presley is producing alongside Jib Polhemus of The Graphic Film Company, with Simon West directing. “Thunder Run,” is an all CG 3-D action thriller based on the non-fiction book “Thunder Run – The Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad,” by Pulitzer Prize-winning correspondent David Zucchino. Adapting the story for the screen are Academy Award-winner Robert Port and Ken Nolan, screenwriter of “Black Hawk Down.” “Thunder Run” is the untold story of the dangerous and bloody capture of Baghdad by American Forces at the onset of the Iraq War. In April 2003, three battalions and fewer than a thousand men launched a violent thrust of tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles into the heart of a city of five million, igniting a three-day blitzkrieg, which military professionals often refer to as a lightning strike, or “thunder run.” In telling the story of the surprise assault on Baghdad–one of the most decisive battles in recent American combat history–this movie paints the harrowing picture of the soldiers on the front lines and the realities of modern warfare. Brian Presley is a talented and award-winning actor who attended the University Of Southern California School Of Business and moved into producing in 2004, when he formed Freedom Films. Freedom’s first film was Guarding Eddy, where he played the role of “Eddy Patterson,” an adult living with autism. Presley won Best Actor at the Boston International Film Festival for his portrayal of “Eddy” and the film won Best Film. In his next four films Presley worked with some of Hollywood’s most talented and respected actors, including: Irwin Winkler’s Home of the Brave for MGM with Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Biel, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Ricci and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson; Streets of Blood with Val Kilmer and Sharon Stone; End Game with Cuba Gooding Jr. and James Woods; and Lions Gate Films’ Borderland alongside Sean Astin; and most recently opposite Ed Harris, Amy Madigan and Taraji P. Henson in Once Fallen. In 2010, Presley announced Freedom Films’ partnership with Palo Verde Hedge Fund’s Paul Ross and Tony Stacy financing Freedom’s projects. Their first project under the deal is writer/director Don Handfield’s feature-directorial debut, Touchback, which will arrive in theaters in April 2012 from Anchor Bay. In Touchback, “Scott Murphy,” played by Brian Presley, is a down-on-his-luck small town farmer and volunteer fireman whose glorious high school football days were cut short when he was critically injured during a playoff game. He often wonders “what if” and then is unexpectedly thrust from the present day back to that fateful instant that changed his life forever. But this time around he has the choice to decide if he wants the life he has or the life that could have been. Touchback also stars, Melanie Lynskey, Kurt Russell, Christine Lahti, Marc Blucas, Drew Powell, Sarah Wright, Sianoa Smit-McPhee and Kevin Covais. Currently in production on his next project, Presley stars alongside three of Hollywood’s biggest male stars, Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington and Matthew McConaughey in Thunder Run which Simon West set to direct. Thunder Run, is an all CG 3-D action thriller based on the non-fiction book “Thunder Run – The Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad,” by Pulitzer Prize-winning correspondent David Zucchino. Adapting the story for the screen are Academy Award-winner Robert Port and Ken Nolan, screenwriter of Black Hawk Down.

Thank you OBND movies.about.com/b/2012/05/15/gerard-butler-sam-worthington-shoot-thunder-run-this-summer.htmGerard Butler, Sam Worthington Shoot Thunder Run This Summer By Rebecca Murray, About.com GuideMay 15, 2012 Gerard Butler Stars in Thunder RunFreedom Films locked in Paradox Entertainment to co-finance Thunder Run, which means principal photography will definitely get underway this summer on the CG 3-D action thriller. And, according to Freedom Films, visual effects production is actually already underway on Thunder Run starring Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington, and Matthew McConaughey. Thunder Run will be directed by Simon West (The Mechanic remake) and is based on the critically acclaimed non-fiction book by David Zucchino: Thunder Run - The Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad. Robert Port and Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) adapted Zucchino's story for the screen. The official synopsis: "Thunder Run is the untold story of the dangerous and bloody capture of Baghdad by American Forces at the onset of the Iraq War. In April 2003, three battalions and fewer than a thousand men launched a violent thrust of tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles into the heart of a city of five million, igniting a three-day blitzkrieg, which military professionals often refer to as a lightning strike, or 'thunder run'. In telling the story of the surprise assault on Baghdad--one of the most decisive battles in recent American combat history--this movie paints the harrowing picture of the soldiers on the front lines and the realities of modern warfare." Although the story is compelling and the cast announced thus far has me ready to buy a ticket, I'm not yet sold on the facial and motion capture technology that will be used to bring the story to life. Per a previous announcement, CEO of Freedom Films Brian Presley offered this explanation: "Thunder Run will be the first ever conventional war film made to utilize this revolutionary facial and motion capture technology and state of the art CG and 3D. Simon and I have developed this project over the last five years so it will be nice to see it come alive."

Thank you again OBND Watch out girls the testosterone is going to be splashed all over this film! www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/gerard-butler-sam-worthington-matthew-mcconaughey-thunder-run-kerbl.phpSo Necessary: Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington, and Matthew McConaughey to Star in Epic 3D Film About Capture of Baghdad Casting Couch By Kate Erbland on May 15, 2012 | Be the First To Comment True-life American military tales are gunning for a real resurgence lately – what with Ben Affleck’s Argo, Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty, and the Robert Pattinson-starring Mission: Blacklist – and it looks like that means we’re not safe from a 3D take on such projects. A morning press release out of the Cannes Film Festival (oh, and heads up, get ready for a metric ton of these in the coming days) reveals that Freedom Films and Paradox Entertainment have made a deal to produce the “epic action pic Thunder Run,” based on the book “Thunder Run – The Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad.” In case that title doesn’t quite clue you in on the film’s subject matter, it will detail “the untold story of the dangerous and bloody capture of Baghdad by American Forces at the onset of the Iraq War. In April 2003, three battalions and fewer than a thousand men launched a violent thrust of tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles into the heart of a city of five million, igniting a three-day blitzkrieg, which military professionals often refer to as a lightning strike, or ‘thunder run.’” Despite the fact that the film’s producers are already flashing about its 3D bent and terming it an “epic,” Thunder Run is coming at us (really, right at our faces) with a solid action pedigree. Simon West (The Expendables 2, Con Air) will direct from a script by Robert Port and Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down), who are adapting from the book by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Zucchino. And, fine, let’s just get to it – this 3D military action epic whiz-bang will star Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington, and Matthew McConaughey. There’s no word yet on the actors’ exact roles, but it’s safe to assume they’ll all just be badasses. The press release also informs us that VFX production has already begun on the CG 3D film, with principal photography set to start this summer. Thunder Run will have a wide release and Hyde Park International is handling sales at Cannes for the film.

Thanks fifi! moviesblog.mtv.com/2012/08/23/gerard-butler-thunder-run/Gerard Butler Gets Us Excited For 'Thunder Run' Remember last year when Gerald Butler, Sam Worthington and Matthew McConaughey signed up for that CG 3D Iraq War action movie, "Thunder Run"? It was initially billed as the "first-ever conventional war film made to utilize this revolutionary facial and motion capture technology and state of the art CG and 3D,” and according to Butler himself, it's as nutty as it sounds. But nutty-awesome, not actually nutty. "It's a crazy project. I've read a few war movies. I've read a few action movies, and this may be the best war movie I ever read," Butler told MTV News recently when we caught up with him for his surfing drama "Chasing Mavericks". Butler went on to say that he was blown away by the script and the pre-vis reel he saw before signing on. "It is, when I saw the pre-vis package that they did, the same [kind of pre-vis package] as they did for '300,'" he said. "They showed me this piece that they put together that was like a one and a half-minute piece. I'd never seen anything like it. It's going to be breaking new ground in making movies, and thank God on top of that it was a great script." That script, written by Ken Nolan of "Black Hawk Down," tells a more multi-dimensional story than a typical war movie. "It's a better script than that even ['Black Hawk Down']," Butler said. "It's so tight. When you jump into this story you are in those tanks with those guys rolling it. And you're also with the families in Iraq. You're really on both sides of the fence, and you understand the journeys of the Iraqis and the Americans. The Americans aren't just gung-ho. It's a bunch of kids who've never seen war up close before." "Thunder Run" is based on Pulitzer Prize-winning correspondent David Zucchino's non-fiction book "Thunder Run - The Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad," and will be directed by "Expendables 2" helmer Simon West.
