I thought james franco was also getting more into script writing than directing? either way, this will prove very interesting.....if they're doing vinettes with a roster of talent I wonder if Gerry would consider taking his hand at directing too? the premise of the film is interesting and hoping, controversial thought provoking....

myfox8.com/2013/06/25/james-franco-shooting-film-in-winston-salem-area/James Franco shooting film in Winston-Salem area WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Actor-director James Franco will shoot a film in the Winston-Salem area next month, and an open casting call will be held Sunday the Winston-Salem Journal reports. Franco is directing “The Garden of Last Days,” which is based on the bestselling book by Andre Dubus III, the author of “House of Sand and Fog.” The film is scheduled to be shot in the Winston-Salem area between July 10 and Aug. 6. Deadline.com, a movie industry news site, describes the story as “a contemporary thriller set in the seamy underside of American life about three interwoven and ultimately explosive stories: A stripper out of options who brings her 3-year-old daughter to work; an angry, lonely man who gets thrown out of the club; and a foreigner with an endless supply of cash on the brink of committing a terrifying act.” The original book was set around the events of Sept. 11, 2001, but according to Deadline has been updated to modern day with Dubus’ blessing. Gerard Butler is one of the film’s producers. An open casting call for “The Garden of Last Days” is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Altair Casting & Production Services LLC, at 703 Coliseum Plaza Court. Casting personnel are looking for all ages and types, including what they describe as “a broad range of ethnically distinct individuals and Arabic-speaking individuals.” They are also looking for professional female dancers to play strippers; a young girl or identical twins to play a 3- to 4-year-old character; and a young boy to play a 2- to 3-year-old character. They ask that you bring a current photo and resume if available, and be prepared to provide contact information, including an email address that you check regularly. www.journalnow.com/news/local/article_f04a223c-ddc7-11e2-8fe0-001a4bcf6878.html

I wonder if Gerry plans to be on set as a producer for some of this shoot. It's possible since he doesn't seem to have a project lined up. Could be a good opportunity for GB fans in that area if he shows up.
Remember last summer he and Freddy were driving thru that area? Maybe he was looking at it for this movie.

I remember SD, it seems like such a long time ago. Was it really only last summer? We were following his trip to NYC on a map, weren't we? That is probably what he was doing but I think it was another movie that we talked about .....a hunter tracking someone? It is amazing how much he has done in a year. Have you seen that 2012 video that Fifi posted? It was truly fabulous how much Gerry accomplished last year.

I couldn't get that video to work that Fifi posted. Hmmm. I'd like to see that.
Gerry has been all over the world in the past year. Made a great movie. Been in a relationship. He is always busy.
I just hope he will make a movie this year that we may get to see next year. As much fun it is to see him traveling the world giving us a view of the sights he sees and him, it'd be nice to hear he's doing a good movie this year.
Yes, we thought Gerry was traveling through the smoky mountains in regards to the movie about a guy being hunted down in the woods. That could be true. But maybe he liked the scenery there for this movie being shot this summer.

Fantastic and guaranteed to lift your spirits to a new level in your appreciation of Gerry and how hard he works and how much he accomplishes in a year. The link that Fifi gave that was originally in That Shirt works for me even on my tablet but if you can't access it, ask Fifi because you really don't want to miss that video.

I loved the video. Found it on our favorite shirt thread. He sure did look good in that long hair and in a wetsuit. I think 2011 will be one of my fave years ever in Gerry fandom!
If we ever meet Gerry and he's wearing that shirt...what will we say, do? I might just start giggling. It would be hard not to mention the shirt to him.

Great video found by Fifi, Dawn! For anyone who wants a REALLY good dose of Gerry, the Malibu jogging shots are included in this special annual Gerry video - I love these vids, they are brilliant. If you don't have time to watch it all ( ), fast forward to the 6 minute mark BTW The Shirt also makes a few appearances, so I am not TOTALLY off topic

would this be like guilty hearts? I watched that on Netflix. He was so young and his voice a bit higher. I loved his raw emotions.

Gerry was to produce The Garden of Last Days, which James Franco was going to direct and star in the film. Gerry was not part of the cast. James Franco has now dropped out of the project and that is what the article I posted was reporting. This was to be a full length movie, I think Guilty Hearts that you are referring to was a number of movie "shorts".

That would have have catapulted him to be such a force HW. I still have hope.

I don't care for James Franco at all even with all his degrees. I don't think he's attractive in the least. Second time now this has happened just before filming. I hope insurance covers the half million. What in the world will Gerry be doing now? He's got way too much time on his hands which always spells trouble. Now I'm wondering what will happen with Thunder Run...and what about all those other movies Gerry was going to star in? This really stinks!!
