I'm excited about this project because I like to see Gerry do comedy. I love the dramas the best, and I think he's his best when doing dramas, but I also love that he makes me laugh and has fun filming once in a while. I do hope they get a good, strong female lead. No more Jennifer Anistons. BLEACH.

I wonder if they only film in Shreveport or somewhere else too. It says "late March"... On all the other projects listed on that page there are more exact dates. Makes me think they either don't know yet for sure how long the shoot will be or they'll shoot somewhere else too.... a little bit further up north would be great... like Kentucky, Ohio (It's nice here in April-May )

I don't think there has been a movie he has made (all though I'm just starting to watch them) that I have not liked. I liked the soccer movie he made and it looked like he can play a good game, so I'm looking forward to this. However all sporting events must have ambulances at the venue. I know it will be hard but I don't mind being on a BLS unit for a game stand by. I hope no one is hurt but if it should happen - I'll kiss all his boo-boos while I think of you. Hmmmmmm that's not what I've been trained to do, oh well someone has to do it.l

I would be happy to be your assistant, craven.

This article today Orlando Sentinel regarding Playing the Field - not very nice swipe at Gerry. I had a feeling comments like this were going to start blogs.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment_movies_blog/2010/12/gerard-butler-goes-for-a-kids-soccer-romantic-comedy-playing-the-field.html "Gerard Butler goes for a kids’ soccer romantic comedy, ‘Playing the Field’ on December, 20 2010 8:22 AM
He has finished his work on the noble-intentioned “Machine Gun Preacher,” based on biker-preacher Sam Childers’ exploits. Up soon for ‘300′ star Gerard Butler is another comedy, this one about a retired soccer star who tries to reconnect with the ex and their kid by coaching the kids’ soccer team.
Will he be a one-time womanizer ex-jock? Bet on it. Will it be cute and sweet? Let’s hope so.
“Playing the Field,” it’s to be called. It’ll be fine. So long as Jennifer Aniston and Hilary Swank and Katherine Heigl are no where near it. Unless, of course, Gerry’s bad-movies with those co-stars were more HIS fault."Sorry, but without Gerry none of these movies would have been a successful not the over way about.

Why does this movie scenario make me think of Billy Bob Thornton and Bad News Bears....thank god it was changed to soccer from baseball, otherwise de ja vu would be written all over it, lol. I hope Gerry is a verra naughty boy in this...me likey some naughty Gerry!

Thanks to Tinkerbell.. www.deadline.com/2010/12/nu-image-sets-march-start-for-playing-the-field-with-gerard-butler/Nu Image Sets March Start For 'Playing The Field' With Gerard Butler By MIKE FLEMING | Friday December 17, 2010 @ 7:39pm ESTTags: Gabriel Muccino, Gerard Butler, Gerard Butler Playing The Field, Movie Deals, Movies, Nu Image/Millennium, Playing the Field, Robbie Fox Comments 34 Email This | Print This | Bookmark and Share Mike Fleming Nu Image/Millennium has committed to a March start date for Playing the Field, the Gabriele Muccino-directed film that will star Gerard Butler. In the Robbie Fox-scripted comedy, Butler plays a retired world famous soccer star who tries to rebuild a relationship with his son and ex-wife by coaching his kid's soccer team. While soccer is a hands-free sport, the mothers of the other kids can't keep their hands off the coach, which imperils his plan. Jonathan Mostow, Kevin Misher, Heidi Jo Markel, Butler and Alan Siegel are producing. Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short and Avi Lerner are executive producers. The film was developed under the title Slide, when the protagonist was a baseball coach. Butler and Muccino came aboard after the script was switched to soccer, but it languished until the Nu Image/Millennium guys stepped up. PS,,, I love Conan, that picture of him makes me smile.

I love how he's playing a man whom women can't keep their hands off of ... sounds like real life to me. I would give a cherished body part to play one of the soccer mom's with their hands all over him.
