I am not really sure how I feel about this one. If it meant we would get to hear Gerry sing in a movie again, that would definitely be a treat, but all these remakes??? I don't know.

I love Beyonce but if she is in the project I'm not so enthusiastic about Gerry being involved. She is a decent actress but I think the film could turn out to be a 2 hr long music video for her. I also have gotten a little peeved that bloggers are questioning if Gerry has the acting chops for the role and not even questioning Beyonce's acting chops. I'm thinking Russell Crowe would like to do this film but I could never never see him in a movie with Beyonce in the lead.

jeaniebirdie said it: remake. As much as I would love to hear him sing in a movie again, I'm not enthusiastic about remakes.

and yet another article from online Topix....writes: "Will Gerard Butler Be There When A STAR IS BORN? by Brendan Bettinger Posted:May 20th, 2010 at 9:18 am 0diggsdigg There are already three versions of A Star Is Born scattered throughout film history, but since over thirty years have passed since the last, it’s time for a new one. Russell Crowe was being considered for the male lead, but no offer has been made and the Robin Hood star may move on to other projects before one can be extended. LA Times reports that Warner Bros. has a list of names they fancy for the role, and near the top is Scottish hunk Gerard Butler. It would be new territory for Butler, who is known for action films like 300 and romantic comedies like The Bounty Hunter rather than more dramatic fare. The female lead has not been chosen either, but Beyonce has been rumored for the part. She would play an aspiring actress, while Butler would play an aging movie star who helps launch her career. Check out the full plot synopsis after the jump. Here’s the synopsis for the 1937 original via Amazon: “This is Mrs. Norman Maine,” proclaims Janet Gaynor, fighting back the tears as she addresses her fans while still rocked by personal tragedy. It’s the kind of grandiose gesture we love in a movie star, and the original A Star Is Born is gloriously......." www.collider.com/2010/05/20/will-gerard-butler-be-there-when-a-star-is-born/.... hmmm? what to think? why not. some other bloggers speculated it may be a musical. (POTO and PSILY shows it's not a far reach for gerry). either way a remake is a remake is a remake. its been approached 3 times since its first release. if its done right it could prove to be great entertainment...if not, end up in a $5 for 5 walmart bin? whatever the case may be, the story is a familiar theme which most can identify with....experience gently nudging the novice to fly free..................
