Great find, Prince...
I like the message in this. What you see is what you get with Gerry. He doesn't act like some big movie star, he's just himself.
The only thing I don't like, and I am sure this will come at some point, but they always mention him in reference to Phantom, 300, TUT and Bounty, (nowadays) anyway, but his truly amazing performances like Dear Frankie and The Jury, just to mention a few, are never mentioned, and that's sad. If more people heard about these movies and actually watched them, they would have a completely different look on Gerry. He's not just someone who got lucky in Hollywood. He worked at it for years, is a damn fine actor and he deserves the credit for it, I think.

Shocking too that such plaudits would come from the usually stingy Guardian who mete out praise or admiration quite sparingly. Maybe it's a UK boy being successful in Hollywood. Love the past paragraph. There is a brief interview with Restaino, who says: "Gerry's place is a ride, man, it's a ride." That could be a description of Butler's home or his whole career to date. It is a ride that looks set to keep on going.[/i] I think many of us would say "Gerry is ride, man" or " Gerry is certainly is a trip."

This was a great find, thanks Prince. Great insights. Gerry is who he is and we love him for it; he's honest and forthright (sometimes causing his PR people heart attacks), says what he thinks at the moment. This paragraph had me thinking in another way about the Gerry/Jen pairing. Does anyone else think that maybe the company started these rumors to help with promoting the movie? Maybe they weren't sure how well this movie would be received and decided to stir the pot with rumors that the two stars are dating. Just a thought. If Gerry is a ride, I don't every want it to end.

Sure I think a lot of this is fed on purpose to the media and on to the public to promote the film. The studio knew the final product was sub par and needed both of them-with their box office staying power on the line, to help push the movie with the bit of intrigue on their relationship. Mexico was part of the push to drive domestic #'s as was the boat trip in Paris to drive foreign box office #'s.
Nothing new in Hollywood-all part of the machine and meanwhile they both seem to really like each other and had fun doing the media thing until it got boooooooring - that showed in Europe. G looked like he wanted to pick his eyes out with a spoon. She looked sooooo over the whole thing as well. Let's see if they are really friendssl now after the media push. I don't see him lunching with Katie Heigel or Hillary Swank! Not saying they did not get along but they played up both friendships in a big way for both press junkets just like they did for THB!
I don't see him going to next years Aniston birthday bash....just say'in!

I think the reality too is even if say KH and GB were friends, she lives down the street apparently as a matter of fact the reality is all these people are busy, it is onto the next film project, and a new bunch of "potential" friends and like for any of us, one of those friendships stick, some don't, some never really were friendships but working acquaintanceships or sometimes those costars actually hate each other guts but we'd never know it with all the gushing and hugging at premiere time......that is why they are actors and actresses - when they really hate each other though you can usually tell or some actors and actresses will not do what the studio tells them.
For example it is clear that Guy and Gerry remain friends after their filming experience or were perhaps friend before and Guy made sure he had a role for Gerry in his next film. My sense is Gerry tries to maintain at text contact with as many people as he can but there is only so much time in one day. Even I cannot find the time to keep up with all my friends from various parts of my life and I am not living the crazy life that he is.
