Will he be in NYC July 1-4?

He looks like he is going to busy filming most of this year. Coriolanus should be done middle of May. However Gerry in his recent interviews is giving the impression that he is set to go on the Machine Gun Preacher which is contradictory to its status at IMDB. In artciles about the movie, they state they are ready to go in late May. But IMDB says they are set for 2011 and still need to get some financing in place.

But Gerry also told a Brazilian interviewer quite a few months ago that he was planning on being in Africa working on a film at the same time as the World Cup is in South Africa and hoping to catch some matches and would be cheering for Brazil since Scotland didn't stand a chance making it into the tournament and the World Cup is being held from June 11 to July 11. Now not all of the filming for this movie may take place in Africa, the character had a life in the US before and after his time in Africa, I think the character Sam Childers is from the Philadelphia area or resides there now. It would make sense to film in Africa then because it will be their winter time.

There is another movie Consent to Kill where they say Gerry is being considered for one of the leads and they plan on filming this summer - where, who knows. We don't even know if Gerry knows he is being considered and if so would he be interested.

Pretty much a crap shoot at this early date.

And given that is a holiday weekend in the US even if Gerry was in the US then, unless he was working on a film, I don't know that he would be spending that holiday weekend in NYC and not tooting off somewhere near a beach.

I think NYC will be awesome anyway - Gerry says himself, best city in the world.

I'm sure my husband would rather be in Africa catching some matches too, he's a fanatic, and although Greece qualified (I'm Greek - opa!), who knows how they'll do - never got far except for Euro Cup a few years back.

I love NYC so a Gerry sighting would just be a bonus. You are bound to see someone famous.


He definitely will not have any movies to promote probably until 2011 so I don't see any late night appearances. He only appears on the late night talk shows when he has something to promote. In fact that is pretty much standard with everyone on talk shows - they have a record or tour or book or movie or theatre production or TV show to promote. Just saying. He is doing his last film promotion right now of The Bounty Hunter and How to Train Your Dragon.

Coriolanus is the first movie he is making that will be finished this year and it is set to premiere at the Belgrade Film Festival which takes place in January 2011.

It would be fun to be in NYC for 4th of July. The big fireworks in the harbour area. Crazy but fun.

I'd love to see some World Cup matches but not in the cards by far.

Actually Vicky I may be wrong - he did some work on this Farrelly movie where he is the foul mouthed leprachaun, all the actors involved are just doing short sketches, no idea when they will be in post production but all they say is they will likely release this movie in 2010, though my guess would be later in 2010, and Toronto Film Festival might be a good venue to premiere this movie. I cannot see however all the actors and directors involved showing up at TIFF but Gerry has said he loves TIFF so he might just volunteer unless he just can't get away from a movie set. When are the NYC Film festivals I wonder.
