Actually Jeanie when Gerry was speaking at that Phoenix conference with the film people he himself noted that the trend in films is to big franchises and big films - a smart actor or actress would behoove themselves to try and see if they can't find something that is franchisable. The question is finding the right franchise for the actor. Like Ironman for Robert Downey Jr. They are also talking Sherlock sequel. I know many of us would love to see a RocknRolla sequel but the poor box office of the first makes that possibility seems remote though Guy's resurrection with Sherlock gives one hope.
Gerry just did not want to do Bond for fear of being typecast but to be honest I don't think they has happened with Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig. Brosnan of course had a long career before taking on Bond and his career continues after Bond. Daniel Craig really only became a name after Bond but he had done other films and some very good ones. I don't think Craig is too worried.
Now Roger Moore was a different story.
Now Jason Statham has probably boxed himself in a bit with his Crank and Transporter franchises but people love em and I don't think he has a great range as a actor but he is capitalizing on what he does have to offer. He has been in 2 Guy movies, one he was great in it, Snatch, the second truly did suck as much as I love Guy's movies, Revolver, as one of my friends likes to say- that was sauteed in wrong sauce. But he's got a busy career going. I just saw he is doing a movie call The Brazilan Job which must be a sequel to the Italian Job, same character name and all.
This article about this proposed CBS movie however seems to indicate that there is no information that any of the three potential leads have even been offered or contacted, they may be announcing their wishlist out loud for whatever reason.

OMG I am so excited!!! This is exactly what Gerry needs a good film adaptation of a great novel. THOSE make the best movies!!!! I would honestly love to see Gerry as Morrelli in Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels. It would be a great part for Gerry. Funny thing though it is a Bounty Hunter story and Morrelli is an x-New York City Cop gone bad and Morrelli is the one being pursued by the mad capped (Bounty Hunter) Stephanie. Awesome book if you ever get a chance to read it... It's called One for the Money. Anyway, thanks Prince for finding this, you are awesome girl!!!! Ironic Dianne did you know that Katherine Heigl has been cast to play Stephanie in One for the Money. Don't think it would be wise to go back to that teaming up, though I loved the two together, I personally think they had more chemistry than Jen and Ger on and off screen but the TUT script was also far more clever to start. Has she really? Not good casting... Sandra Bullock is who I see as Stephanie... Stephanie is Italian and they get a beautiful blond to play her? What are they thinking? I also liked this quote from you Canadia.... "A really good novel the great dialog would already be written." Exactly, especially if the movie stays true to the novel. A good novel always makes the best movies... thinking of Gone with the wind, Harry Potter, Twilight series, Da vinchi Code. Brings us back to Outlander, but Gerry is getting to old to play young Jamie unfortunately. Speaking of the Twilight Series. I wonder if the powers that be knew that Twilight the movie would be such a phenomenon? The reason being is the first movie really wasn't that good. The script was lacking although it do get the story out there the novel was SO much better and I think if you didn't read the book before you saw the movie you may have been lost here and there. The second movie however was wonderful. I almost wish they could go back and redo the first movie.

Well if you hadn't noticed, Heigl dyed her hair brown/black a few weeks ago. She won an award at Showwest and her dress strap broke- Billy Bush was behind her and she got him to hold it up for her during her speech.

By the way, have you read the books?

My niece and her friend Ashley said the same thing when we went to see New Moon in the theaters. I do think it was better than Twilight and those werewolves were looked damn hot! I think the Harry Potter series kinda veered away from the books and I think that Jo wasn't as vocal about the integrity of her story in the later films as she was in the earlier one's. Six was very disappointing. I don't hold out much hope for seven. On to Twilight: I heard that Breaking Dawn is to be made into two movies instead of one (like the last one of Harry Potter). And I found the trailer for Eclipse which will be out in theaters June 30th. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBz5fhgqatE

Wow, that would be exciting... Matthew Fox? Nah... not for this role!! I agree with Canadia, the Sawyer guy is something and sure he would draw more audiences than Fox.
Then, I dont 'understand either why HW refuses to start a movie following a good script. Being a screenwriter myself, I know that many people write decent scripts but they're not considered movie material at the end. What a stupid trend. Let's go on with the Marvel comics and that's it.. So sad. my hunch though says 'fox' will get this role. the director is good and coming into his own with epical/action/thrillers
