See the guy can’t win for losing! According to the movie blogs he’s being type cast as a action guy or he is doing too many romantic comedies! Hey movie bloggers, it's a job and Gerry goes where the work is!

Can't win for losing. At least he is happy doing what he enjoys and that is what is important... and if he should drop his drawers, well, nothing wrong with us being happy as well.

Gerard Butler Going Back To War On Big Screen Nov 4, 2009
Gerard Butler is going back to war.
Butler has signed on to star opposite Ralph Fiennes in "Coriolanus," a contemporary big screen remake of William Shakespeare's classic tale of political drama in ancient Rome, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
While Fiennes will play the title character, Butler will play army commander Tullus Aufidius.
The film, which marks the directorial debut for Fiennes, also stars William Hurt and Vanessa Redgrave.
Production will begin shooting in Serbia in March 2010.
Butler shot to superstar status as King Leonidas in the 2007 epic battle film "300." He currently stars in the recent box office releases "Law Abiding Citizen" and "Gamer."
The actor will next be seen in "Bounty Hunter," opposite Jennifer Aniston, which hits theaters in March 2010. Butler also lends his voice to the upcoming DreamWorks animated feature "How To Train Your Dragon," also slated for a March 2010 release

Do you think that he will have a full beard for this one? His scruff is looking quite heavy. They don't start shooting till march.

If he is, I doubt he'd be growing the beard now. It would only take about a month to fill in.

Well, i have the vague impression that Romans could do better with a clean cut face. Not sure about the Roman commandors, though... Still, i prefer a less scruffy G in "Coriolanus" , otherwise he would look way to much like Leonidas.

He can do his beard different where he wouldn't look like Leo remember that B/W picture with the plaid hat on? They are shooting this movie some where obscure I'm thinking Serbia. Yeah I'm sure G can put out a nice full beard quickly but if he has nothing much going he might just start growing it. We shall see.

i think (typically) pax romana style clean shaven...but, i thought fiennes film was set in contemporary fashion and not antiquity? william hurt, vanessa redgrave, ralph & gerry! Oh My God....can not wait. if mr. fiennes directs like he acts....we are in for a big dramatic reveal! caravaggio/hitchcock style? i bet.
speaking of raphe'....just saw 'the reader' . amazing, amazing film. very touching. couldn't help but to consider the parallel between contemporary germans dealing with what their 'grandparents/parents' part (either individual or nationally) in the annihilation of 6 million people (mostly jews) which is very similar to contemporary USA having to deal with the: (1) african enslavement (2) hiroshima/nagasaki (3) american indian 'trail of tears'. this sense of shame from historical evil...can we really make up for it? no. but, we can learn from it, move on knowing full well history can repeat itself. and never to let these things happen again? serbia is apro peau to the idea of enslavement vs. freedom and what we shall do to get it, keep it, guard it. i wonder why not bulgaria?
if you get a chance go see the theatrical production 'drum'...very interesting, heart-felt, historical and entertaining....celtic, acadian, indian, african percussive fusion ebbing & flowing & transecting...fun.

Apparently, Gerry has been cast has the lead in this movie, Coriolanus www.imdb.com/title/tt1372686/. All I know is that is the directorial debut of Ralph Fiennes and that it's the adaptation of a Shakespeare play. Are any of you familiar with the play? Any other news?
