I'm getting excited about this project; as excited as I was to see LAC. And if I get to see Gerry's thighs, it will be a HUGE bonus.

I must admit, I am mildly bummed that they are making it contemporary... I just remember the remake of Romeo and Juliet starring Leonardo Dicaprio... It was unfortunate to say the least.

Oh, no Dianne ! IMHO, that was a VERY well made adaptation! I liked the "video clip" style directing and i was totally stunned seeing how wonderfully they transferred the original Shakespearean words into a so contemporary movie.... And i'm not a huge Leonardo di Caprio fan....actually not at all.... Yet the guy in this movie was as a good Romeo as it gets - Juliette though could be prettier... Trust me, Gerard will be perfect for Shakespear !!! Contemporary adapted or not !

i was hesitant at first too, cause i thought a period piece (ancient) would've been more intriguing...but, keeping an open mind i trust mr. fiennes artisitc abilitites to make a shakespear relavent to contemporary times. (love narratives, biographical, anything ancient.... ) so, the latest on this film will commence in march 2010. i wonder what serbia's like? i know folks who live (and are from) bulgaria & croatia.

Serbia and the Serbs are really great ! A fine country and very friendly people - they might be as passionate and fiery as the Scots imho. So, Gerard would definitely feel at home...! Plus, Belgrade (filming location) isn't too far away from Greece.... (Oh, Mr Fiennes ...why did you choose Serbia over Greece ? ) Which is surely tempting enough....

I saw Romeo and Juliet and wasn't impressed, but I did like the remake of A Midsummer Night's Dream; that one was cute and whimsical. I guess we'll just have to wait and see about this one.... regardless, all of us are going to see it at least once if only to see The Butler in action.

Here's a little blurb.... -- Is Gerard Butler being typecast? The "300" star will take up arms again in a period piece for Ralph Fiennes' version of William Shakespeare's "Coriolanus," according to The Hollywood Reporter. He'll play warrior-general Tullus Aufidius. My answer to that is NO. He played one period piece where he led in army in the past, what, five years? I think not. And if he is being type cast let him be the one to show his beautiful ass in every movie. The can call him, Gerard Butler the ass man!

www.accesshollywood.com/gerard-butler-going-back-to-war-on-big-screen_article_25091LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Enough of the romantic comedies – Gerard Butler is going back to war. Butler has signed on to star opposite Ralph Fiennes in “Coriolanus,” a contemporary big screen remake of William Shakespeare’s classic tale of political drama in ancient Rome, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While Fiennes will play the title character, Butler will play army commander Tullus Aufidius. The film, which marks the directorial debut for Fiennes, also stars William Hurt and Vanessa Redgrave. Production will begin shooting in Serbia in March 2010. Butler shot to superstar status as King Leonidas in the 2007 epic battle film “300.” He currently stars in the recent box office releases “Law Abiding Citizen” and “Gamer.” The actor will next be seen in “Bounty Hunter,” opposite Jennifer Aniston, which hits theaters in March 2010. Butler also lends his voice to the upcoming DreamWorks animated feature “How To Train Your Dragon,” also slated for a March 2010 release. There are some nice pictures and a video interview. Gerry looks awesome...in the interview he talks about LAC
