On the scene where Mike & Abby went out for drinks right after he did Craig Ferguson, Abby asked Mike who the girl was that screwed him over & made him the way he is. He went on about how it was more than one girl & explained all the types he meant. THEN, when he said BY THE TIME THAT I HIT 30, I HAD REALIZED THAT.. UH, YOU CAN HAVE ONLY SO MANY LOUSY RELATIONSHIPS BEFORE YOU FIGURE OUT THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A GOOD ONE. Exactly when he said this "BY THE TIME THAT I HIT 30, I HAD REALIZED..." his scottish accent came through, but made him sound like a sexy vampire! I'm sorrry I noticed it, & i just HAD to post it & was wondering if you ladies noticed it tooo? So sexy :]

I feel the same! I can't wait. I think it's released in France on the 26th of August. I'm mad though because i live in a small town and i won't be able to see the original version and i won't get to hear his sexy voice. I fell in love with him because of his voice so it won't be the same. His French voice will probably be awful. I'll have to wait for the DVD... sigh

His sexy ass accent comes up a lot through the whole movie. It makes me so mad when actors have such a hot voice IE: Gerard, Ewan M, James M. And they put on an american accent for the role. its such a nasty accent.

My sentiments exactly....they even made Colin Firth put on an American accent...and one of the South....that was a waste, too ! I'm nuts about CF's British posh accent. Oh, and about Gerard's voice...i even notice his Scottish accent roaring in a particular moment of "The point of no return" in POTO...couldn't help but smiling and thinking...."That's my Scott!"

He did a good job at trying to lose his accent but it did slip through and it makes me wonder if a Scot accent is hard to lose, not that anyone would want too.

I actually read that they wanted him to do the role as a Scotsman, but Gerry insisted on making him American.
There is one thing I noticed in this film; a lot of the times when I watch his films, I notice that Gerry slips away and his character takes over. Instead of seeing Gerry, I'm seeing a vampire, a Spartan, a singing Irishman, etc. With TUT, the moment he's walking down the hall to the Craig Ferguson show, I saw him and he was Gerry for that moment. Damn, he looked fine in that suit. Is this just me or does anyone else see this?

Well its bound to happen with any character. You put a little bit of yourself into each character you do. That's what makes acting so personal. espically for amazing actors like gerard, johnny depp, heath ledger ect.

In some of his movies i can hardly tell he's the same person ! PS I would love if in TUT he had played the characture as a Scottsman! Can he pass as an American ? Even Colin Firth failed to that ...

Yes yes you are soo right. I was just naming a few. And I don't think he failed THAT bad. I would just rather hear his real accent.

I didn't saw TUT yet, so i have to take your word for it... I have only seen Colin Firth playing the American in "A thousand acres" and " Then she found me"...well the poor guy can play anything BUT an American...accent and all..... Later this year comes out " A single man" - he's portraying an American teacher on '50s....i'm curious as to that.....

yeah. i see what you mean. in TUT i detected some accent in and out througout the film (could be cause i KNOW he's scot and pick it up easier?)...it's such a hard inflection to alter....
never the less...in TUT you can tell he was portraying 'american'...
i am surprised this film is released 'later' in europe? i wonder why?

Oh, I'm definitely happy it is delivered at all ! There is a Colin Firth movie " Easy Virtue" - perfect film, go to see it - which was released in November 2008 in USA and UK, while in Greece came just this July !!! Got my point ?

Except for RocknRolla, which was released in Europe before it came here. Gerry did a great job playing an American... did hear his Scottishness peak out, but I didna care, I enjoyed it.
