I keep hearing about Jamie Fraser from Outlander. Is this a book series (or just one book)? I know there was a movie named Outlander that came out last year. Same thing? Do I need to pick this up?

I don't think it's the same thing... I never heard of those books until I became a member in a GB board... I read somewhere that Gerry is too old to play Jamie Fraser since the first book.. Someone has read them and can write kind of a resume?? Thanks guys...

Outlander is a brilliant series by Diana Gabaldon; it's about a twentieth century Englishwoman named Claire who falls in love with an eighteenth century Scottish Highlander named James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser (I just love saying his whole name ). It's an historical romance with a little science fiction thrown in. I found this at Wikipedia (I don't care for the official website, I can't navigate it properly, but here's a link if you want it: www.dianagabaldon.com/):Outlander (published in the UK as Cross Stitch) is the first in a series of novels (currently seven) by Diana Gabaldon. The book focuses on two main characters, Claire Randall (née Beauchamp) and Jamie Fraser, and takes place in eighteenth and twentieth-century Scotland. The novel is not easily classified by genre. On one level, the work is a romance novel with a focus on the romantic relationship between the two main characters. However, the book breaks certain romance genre conventions—the heroine, for instance, is slightly older and more experienced than the hero. The book could be described as a work of historical fiction with a detailed account of eighteenth century Scottish clan life. The novel could also be considered science fiction with a plot propelled by time travel when Claire journeys from the 1940s to the eighteenth century. I still believe, if they get their butts in gear, that Gerry could play Jamie. Not in the beginning, but when Jamie first appears in Ardsmuir prison... that would be the perfect time.

WoW! That does sound good. Sci-Fi and romance together kind of sounds like The Time Traveler's Wife and I do like historical fiction as well. I may have to check that out. Thanks for posting that.

Just to let you all know that this movie short is now available on a DVD called "Guilty Hearts". My friend saw it at Walmart last night and showed it to me today. When I get the chance, I am going to take screen shots (one's that would look MUCH better than the one's I would have gotten from the online version of the film short) of the movie and share them with you.
