Gerard Butler is the latest Hollywood star to join the Meerkat ads
If you thought that Arnold Schwarzenegger was the peak of the Compare The Market Hollywood ad campaign, then think again.
The company is now on track to get 300 star Gerard Butler on board for the next Meerkat advert and apparently the tongue in cheek promotion will be based on the hit Sparta movie.
We hope that none of our beloved Meerkat characters will be butchered in a bloodbath though.
The Meerkats were most recently seen getting on the wrong side of Arnie when they spilt coffee on him. They have previously had a guest star in the shape of Gary Barlow and also sponsor Coronation Street.
It seems we can’t move for Meerkats these days, and a movie insider told The Sun that Gerard is close to joining in with the fun.
They said: ‘Gerard was tapped up by bosses. They thought he was perfect for the role. Despite being a Hollywood superstar, he doesn’t take himself too seriously.He’s likely to film his part later this summer and the ads will be on screen soon after.’
