Just read this myself on FB. Wondering if it's going to change the release date of 10/2/2015? We wondered how they could film so soon when they don't even have a director...

Maybe the delay is due to the filming of Geostrom, the My Entertainment world Production site had a up-date with a film start date of October 2014 www.myentertainmentworld.com/mew/film_production_newlisting.htmlMovie making drives me nut you can never be sure a movie is going to be made until the actors are on the set. Hope both films are done ASAP

www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/olympus-has-fallen-sequel-has-726089?utm_source=twitterGerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman are reprising their roles Fredrik Bond, who directed the Shia LaBeouf drama Charlie Countryman, is in negotiations to direct Olympus Has Fallen sequel London Has Fallen for Millennium. Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman are reprising their roles for the feature, which moves the action from the lawn of the White House to London. The three main characters — a U.S. Secret Service agent (Butler), the U.S. president (Eckhart) and the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives (Freeman) — are attending the funeral of the British prime minister when all hell breaks loose (again). Christian Gudegast wrote the most recent draft of the script. The movie, which Focus Features will distribute domestically, is eyeing an October start date. Butler, Alan Siegel, Mark Gill, and Matt O'Toole are producing. Bond is a music video director who made his feature debut with Countryman, which premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Bond has been on the list of many big projects that were in search of helmers (he was on the shortlist for Pirates of the Caribbean 5) and with Fallen he gets his hands on a high-profile sequel. He is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Sloane Offer.

schmoesknow.com/olympus-has-fallen-sequel-finds-its-director/28144/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=olympus-has-fallen-sequel-finds-its-directorOlympus Has Fallen” Sequel Finds Its Director! By Reilly What’s shaking Schmoeville? Good news for fans of the “Die Hard” in the White House movie Olympus Has Fallen! Because– BREAKING! The sequel, titled London Has Fallen has found a director. According to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: Fredrik Bond, who directed the Shia LaBeouf drama Charlie Countryman, is in negotiations to direct Olympus Has Fallen sequel London Has Fallen for Millennium. Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman are reprising their roles for action feature which moves the action from the lawn of the White House to London. Sounds good to me. I was actually fairly surprised by the original – a much more badass version of the story (and better executed) than that horrible White House Down (which somewhat bombed at the BO). Maybe it was the timing of the release, Olympus came first and was much better from a story point of view. It makes sense that we are getting a sequel. The three main characters — a U.S. Secret Service agent (Butler), the U.S. president (Eckhart) and the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives (Freeman) — are attending the funeral of the British prime minister when all hell breaks loose (again). Christian Gedegast wrote the most recent draft of the script. The movie, which Focus Features will distribute domestically, is eyeing an October start date. Sounds plausible. I mean, John McClane found himself in the same situation in six successive movies in the Die Hard franchise, looks like Gerard Butler’s character will be finding the same trouble wherever he goes. I actually like the take on this. Why not go on over to Merry Old England for some mayhem? I mean, the US and England are buddies, right? Might as well team up again to kick some ass (worked well for everyone with WWII). Whether or not the script will capture the same magic and expand on the characters and the stakes from the original remains to be seen. In my opinion, we don’t have many smart, action movies that, perhaps, conjure to mind the Die Hards/Lethal Weapons of yore… So this news could be a sign of good things to come. All has to do with the execution. And since Fredrik Bond was able to turn out a Sundance darling with Charlie Countryman, and then parlay that into being on the shortlist of such big name titles such as Pirates 5, this looks like his time to make his mark in the franchise world. Good luck to you Mr. Bond. Not that Bond. Well, you know what I mean…. So what do you think of this news, Schmoeville? Excited for another adventure with Butler, Eckhart and Freeman, this time in London? I have faith… And hope for a good action packed movie. How about you???

I wonder why they are still using that October start date for the LHF in these press releases, since Geostorm will start filming in October. Plus it was already announced that the production was pushed back until December.
Always confusing these announcements.
And I have to say I will miss Antoine Fuqua as director, he was dynamic, this gentlemen seems to have a very thin resume, hoping he can deliver a good movie. Only bright spot was that he was considered as a director for a Pirates of Caribbean 5.
So happy though that the film finally was a director and Gerry has another opportunity to play Mike Banning.

Here's Sheri Young's take on some of this: jmhocelluloidjunkie.com/2014/08/18/london-has-fallen-finally-has-a-director/She is a good Gerry fan and I'm sure many of us remember in particular her brilliant thrashing of Ryan Kavanaugh and Relativity's failure to market Machine Gun Preacher effectively. About the original screenwriters, Gerry mentioned on some OHF interviews that it was a good script but that a lot of work had to be done to get it in shape. It will be interesting to see how all this develops. Now that they got this far, perhaps things will move along quickly. There was some mention that the Millenium studios in Bulgaria were continuing to work on sets so maybe it would be possible to get actual filming underway soon. Hope springs eternal.

Thanks for that link and I admit that I have some of the same reservations for LHF. As for Antoine Fuqua, he was Executive producer for OHF and I think the success of the film helped him get projects that were stalled on the docket moving again, so I understand why he wouldn't want to do this sequel. The writers are a different story, a good script is the key. And I am hoping LHF doesn't go the route of Playing for Keeps, wrong director, changing story-lines all ending it a poorly excuated movie that should have been a big hit with the cast in the film. I also hope this announcement doesn't mean that Gerry will do this film first and then Geostorm. I guess we will know come October.

I'm just really going out on a limb here, but perhaps the choice of this director is because he might be malleable to Gerry's suggestions? Remember Gerry and Antoine had many meetings to tweak the script of OHF and Gerry always likes to have his input and say about his movie. He's also done some scriptwriting as well in the past...LAC. Just a thought...

Just saw something interesting regarding the third writer brought in for LHF -Christian Gudegast, he was originally attached to a Gerry project that never got off the ground - Den of Thieves.
Writers for LHF- Katrin Benedikt ... (written by) wife of Rothenberger Christian Gudegast ... (writer) Creighton Rothenberger

Shellie, is Den of Thieves finished for good? It was just this past May that the articles appeared--I was still under the impression that it might happen, maybe next year as there didn't seem time to do it any sooner. The Variety article ( variety.com/2014/film/news/gerard-butler-den-of-thieves-christian-gudegast-1201179844/ ) had Alan as one of the producers(I figured Gerry also). I wasn't too thrilled about Relativity, though. Interesting about Gudegast--I love all the inter-connections in this business. I hate the uncertainty in any project and the difficulties Gerry faces in trying to formulate a plan to get everything together. I remember some article or interview mentioned only 5% of planned projects are completed. Five percent!!! Always in my mind is the Motor City fiasco and I'll never stop worrying about any project of Gerry's until it's in the can--although I guess even then something could stall it. Right now, LHF still seems uncertain to me, worrying about the director; one of the recent articles saying that Morgan Freeman not appearing in the sequel. Well, I must have got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. I guess we all go through this to some extent, wanting the best for our Gerry.

Thanks for reminding me that Den of Thieves was just announced, I got it confused and thought it was an older project. IMDb didn't have any info on project it was still listed as in development. I hope it gets made! I know it is amazing how things are inter-connected in Hollywood, and I think this is why the same people keep getting the best projects at times. I guess once October comes around and we see if Gerry arrives in New Orleans or Bulgaria we will know what project is being filmed first. LOL

www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/olympus-has-fallen-sequel-loses-734224?utm_source=twitter'Olympus Has Fallen' Sequel Loses Its Director (Exclusive) 6:18 PM PDT 9/18/2014 by Borys Kit With shooting just six weeks away, Fredrik Bond and Millennium have parted ways over the sequel to 2013’s surprise action hit Olympus Has Fallen. A spokesperson for the company confirmed Bond’s exit, which is due to creative differences. Those differences may have been due the movie’s accelerated schedule and Bond only coming into the game in August. One insider said prep time was a factor. Bond, a commercials director, was making the leap from the dramatic indie world – he directed the well-regarded Shia LaBeouf drama Charlie Countryman – to the big-budget action world. London is to begin shooting at the end of October, lensing for four weeks with principals Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo. The production will then pause before picking up again in February, this time with star Gerard Butler, and shoot until April. The two-phase shoot is to accommodate Butler, who is currently shooting Geostorm for Warner Bros. and Skydance. Sources say that Millennium hopes to have a new director in the next 72 hours, with Mark Gill and Butler hunkering down to look at candidates. Despite the differences, the parting of ways is described as amicable.

A split filming schedule. I hope they get a good director hate to hear the movie is being pushed back since they might lose their cast.

Thanks for the information, Christie. Maybe this is why Gerry was looking unhappy toward the end in Iceland and not girl trouble. My mind always goes there because there is always so much stuff up in the air with his projects.
The good thing is that this article adds a lot of info--cast, 2-part filming(now we know how he will do two films at the same time) and seems pretty positive. Like seeing him work with Mark Gill.
Get that Director, guys, and get going before something else happens!!!. And so we can be relieved of the collective knot in our tummies.
