Thanks Deni for the article freefashiontrends.com/1480/guys-in-style-the-look-of-gerard-butler/Guys in style: The look of Gerard Butler 10 March 2012
Guys in style: The look of Gerard ButlerThe style ‘biker’ the actor is in contrast to their ’looks’ on the red carpet The actor of 40 years, who began his career in Hollywood later than usual (his first starring role did not come until 2003, the invincible hand of Lara Croft in the second partof the series) has become one of the most desirable boys mecca of cinema, and a sex symbol in every rule: either promoting movies, walking the red carpet at the Oscars, strolling through Los Angeles or simply attending a basketball game with friends, his presence attracted all eyes (his high stature, bulk and help blue eyes), and turn it into a real magnet for fans of classic style, with a slightly sporty. Women’s suits notched and fitted in the shoulders, blue or gray oil, are his trademarkpose when the media. A look that looks very different in their spare time, his passion for motorcycles led him to opt for leather jackets and cotton shirts, jeans combined withcomfortable and leather.

The above article gave me an idea....
What was it that made you a Gerry fan? Do you remember what first ignited your spark?

I remember the first time I laid eyes on Gerry. I turned on Atilla, (the first time Gerry was on American tv) and seeing him for the first time literally took my breath away. He is so freaken handsome to me.
I like a man's man. A man that looks like a man. None of these girlie boys for me. They say the eyes are a window to the soul and besides him having very masculine features that attracted me he also seemed to exude fun, with his dancing eyes, and crooked smile.
That's what first attracted me....

The Phantom of the Opera - seeing him for the first time on TV. After Music of the Night, I sat in my chair feeling like I'd been hit over the head with a ton of bricks and wondering if I had taken a single breath through that whole sequence. What WAS that? What just happend there? Learned the literal meaning of stunning and breathtaking--words we often use about this man. For me it was the range of emotion he conveyed in that one song; he absolutely touched my soul. And so began my journey.

First two movies I had watched were PSILY and 300 but I was crying mostly of the time so that much he was breathtaking! His acting was so spontaneous and natural, his voice and scottish accent, look of his eyes, crooked smile-he was so different of any other actor-and I'm a big filmophile so I knew he is the best one of his kind.So I'm here now...

I first took notice of him when I watched the Law Abiding Citizen, I thought this man can act, he need not say a word his eyes tell it all. I have watched 300 and PSILY and did'nt know that Leonidas, Gerry and Clyde was played by the same actor. Then I started to have interest and tried watching some of his interviews through You Tube...this time I saw how hilarious he was and how he makes time for his fans...and I became a fan myself. I looked for fansites where I can get more information about him then I signed up for this forum where we share the same obsession (everytime I open my computer I check if there's new news about him) ...I never left since then....I just know that I'll be a fan forever.

Gerry as the lovable rogue, Gus, in Lucy Sullivan Gets Married, a British mini series, TV series when Gerry would have been quite young, 30ish, give or take....you wanted to hate his character but you couldn't, it is why Lucy gave him so many chances until he finally blew it with her and I was cheering for the good guy who got Lucy in the end but one could understand why Lucy was swept off her feet by Gus. And that hair, just love a man with a lot of hair and those wavy curls, sigh and the accent, along with being very tall with some meat on him, not some scrawny guy. A manly man.
And having observed Gerry over the years a lot of Gerry was in Gus. Most actors put a bit of themselves into every character, you can only draw on what you know unless the character is just so way out.

I have to say, I was taken by a Rom Com...
I have always been a big fan of older flicks. I love anything from the late 30's-mid 60's, and I don't watch as many "new" movies as the regular Joe. I love Bogey and Steve McQueen. Manly men. My favorite film of all time is Gone With the Wind, followed closely by almost anything Audrey Hepburn. You get the point.
So late one night, I was adding movies to my Netflix queue, and I happened across Overboard with Goldie Hawn, which I LOVE. (Yeah, I know, not that old, but its Kurt Russell, people.) When I added it, up pops the "things you might like" screen, and I saw The Ugly Truth. On a whim, I added it. I had never seen any of Ger's movies at this point. (Sue me. I told you, I watch the black-and-white films...) I finish overboard and decide to play this new TUT movie. I am attracted instantly, because of the masculine guy on the screen...
Then ---- there it is. The dancing scene. For the love of all that is holy. You couldn't have ripped my eyes off that screen if you attached them to a monster truck driving the opposite direction.
I went immediately to my computer and searched "Mike Chadway" and found the actor. That night, I was up until well after 3 or 4 watching every Gerard Butler flick Netflix had to offer. Needless to say, I now own all of those movies.
Since that time, I have not only held on to my intense physical attraction (trust me, I held on...) but I have also gotten the opportunity to "get to know" the real person through interviews, articles, and biographies, and I have never ever turned back. Don't think I could if I tried.
All I can say, is THANK YOU NETFLIX!!!!!!!!

I was late to the party. My 1st movie was TUT. I'd heard of him but never gave him a second thought, even hearing about 300. Something about him in TUT led me to investigate further. I Youtube him, particularly interviews he'd done. To find out he was highly educated & an attorney was it for me. I value education & that was a huge turn on. Of course he's stunning, but not just a pretty face. His kindness, personality & humility really shows thru in his interviews making him the complete package. <3

I first saw him years and years ago in Dracula 2000 with my sister when I was twelve, and I remember her gushing about how hot he was, and then in Phantom of the Opera when I went to see it with my mother and one of my sisters while it was playing in theaters (when I first watched it, I thought he was an elusive English actor who had been singing classically for years for some sort of posh stage production). Then I saw him again in 300. It wasn't until a lady at my church loaned me her copy of PS I Love You (which I was very hesitant to watch - definitely not into chick flicks xD) that I took notice of him as an actor, and my sister was always talking about how hot he is, so I googled his name. And then I found out they were all the same actor! Still a little baffled by it at times, and now I cannot watch 300 without imagining him breaking out into some romantic yet heartbreaking melody. But yeah, after that, I took on a campaign of watching everything he has ever been in, and he is the only actor besides Johnny Depp I have been obsessed with enough to actually do that. xD

The first time I saw Gerry was in 1999 when a girl I went to college with had a copy of One More Kiss. I thought he was so cute! I saw him again in Attila, but I didn't realize it was the same guy for a long time. I really went head over heels for him when he played Andre Marek in Timeline. He was so sweet and sexy in that movie I just couldn't help myself. I've pretty much been addicted since...I don't think there's any hope for a cure...not that I want one...

I agree with One more kiss he was really sweet there. I have fallen in love with Gerry after seeing Dear Frankie. There is very tender scene when Frankie’s mother revealed why she left her husband. Gerry was almost crying there and his sensitive face was incredible. Then I saw POTO final scene with little monkey and have been lost forever. His eyes and face always blow me away. He is able to express emotions and doesn’t feel ashamed to show them. I can´t resisted him :-) but also don´t look for any cure, I love being addicted. Despite all rumours I still believe he is very sensitive and sweet man.

I like this thread! I'm a newbie but I'm making up for lost time by stalking him online instead of working. Sigh. I remember seeing the trailers for 300 & staring gape-jawed at his body, but I never saw it and went on about my life; then I saw him in LAC but it didn't process that this was the same guy.... So then my Mom gave me the Outlander book to read- I'm a voracious reader BTW- I have a BA in English Lit- who goes to college to read? Just nerds like me! Anyway- I was trolling the web for more info on an Outlander movie and who do I run across but the lovely Mr. B. It was ON! Now my days are consumed with viewing his lovely self. I've seen most of his movies now but still have a few to go. I think my favorite is Dear Frankie- I balled my damn eyes out! As for what is it about him that I love- I think we all love the beauty, but I also love the way he's managed to remain very normal (for Hollywood at least). He seems very laid- back, very honest, has a filthy sense of humor, and very personable overall. I love that about him.

Dawne27, if I could *like* your post, I would! Funny how many of these stories are similar I watched 300 and P.S. I Love You in January 2010, and though I liked the movies, GB didn't make an impression. He just wasn't my type - actor-wise or hunk-wise... Then I saw Phantom of the Opera and it just blew me away, especially three scenes: The Music of the Night, which is one of the most inspirational songs I have ever heard; the end of the Point of No Return and the scene at the end with the music box, which is the first you really see his face; and even though his face was scared, I just thought: WOW, he looks so beautiful and souly! I think that what I see, every time I see him... It's funny how we seem to respond in similar ways to him He just draws me in, and I must admit it took me some time to accept it, 'cause it's never happened to me before. He seems to strike a chord way deep in people - for me it has kinda been life-changing, I really think he in some ways is inspiring as a person and an artist! He really stands out (if this is unintelligible, it's because I'm severely sleep-deprived )
