Raechel Weisz would be great. Since were talking British actresses, I could also see Kate Winslet... Or somebody we know for sure Gerry has chemistry with - Emily Mortimer.

If they were thinking of Cameron Diaz originally it gives you an idea were the script was leaning. I think Jennifer Gardner would be a good choice if they want a sassy type. Also wouldn't it be great to see Gerry work with Sandra Bullock.

Also wouldn't it be great to see Gerry work with Sandra Bullock. Sandra would be good, because she can do the comedy thing, or she can also do the drama and suspense thing. I agree. Plus, I could get my husband to go see it with me, cause Sandra is his Gerard...

Jennifer Garner just had a baby so I doubt she'll be ready to do a movie in May. Although she'd be fun with Gerry.
I thought of Sandra Bullock and think she'd be great with Gerry. Who isn't she great with?
Then I started thinking of Diane Kruger..that sounds interesting.

I have taken a shining to Mirielle Enos who is lead actress in tv show The Killing. She is actually very attractive out of those jumpers and just made World War Z with Pitt so is making that transition to movies.

Robert Luketis talks a bit about Brilliant and Gerry, seems no precise filming date have been set yet www.pedestrian.tv/pop-culture/news/robert-luketics-tips-for-budding-film-directors/69239.htmRobert Luketic is one of the most successful film directors to come out of Australia in the past decade. After sparking Hollywood interest with his short-length ode to hair removal "Titsiana Booberini (1997), he landed his first feature film gig - the wildly successful Reese Witherspoon comedy, Legally Blonde, and has since directed a number of big name romantic comedies. Luketic has teamed up with The Qantas Spirit Of Youth Awards (SOYA) as the industry mentor for the winner in the Film & Video Cateogry (entries close 30th March 2012). Pedestrian recently asked Robert the advice he has for upcoming film makers, working with actors, and Brilliant, his new project with Irish actor Gerard Butler... PEDESTRIAN: Robert you're going to be the mentor for a lucky upcoming film maker for SOYA 2012. What kind of first hand hot tips are you looking forward to imparting? ROBERT LUKETIC: From such topics as getting noticed in a crowded and competitive market to sustaining a career once you get your foot in the door, I hope to impart the knowledge I have gathered in the last 10 years. As well, I think it would be useful to discuss some of the mistakes and pitfalls I have experienced. Disappointments can be lessons we learn from the most. Oh, did I mention making a film is a team effort? When you started making movies did you have anyone to mentor you in the early stages of your career? I did not have anyone to mentor me. So in a way, my introduction to the film biz was trial by fire. What is your advice to young directors about working with actors? Actors like the challenge. Don't be afraid to work with them to achieve a memorable performance. I view it as a team effort. Directors should create an environment where the actor feels safe to explore every facet of their character. Most importantly, acknowledge the good work. Feedback is very important and welcome. Line readings are not. How is Brilliant coming along? What stage are you in with that movie? Brilliant is in active development. Gerard Butler has been cast in the lead. I guess it's a matter of timing now, as we both have busy slates.
You've worked with Gerard Butler on The Ugly Truth , are you looking forward to reuniting with him? He looks like fun. Gerry is an awesome man. I love the sense of fun he brings to a set. He really "gets into it." I have a shorthand with Gerry, and that's worth a lot in this biz. Oh, did I mention it's a business?Emerging film makers aged betweed 18 - 30, the Qantas SOYA365 film category closes on 30th March so head to www.soya.com.au and get your entries in quick for a chance to win a mentorship with Robert Luketic, $5000 cold hard cash and a trip to Edinburgh Film Festival.

New Twitter posts report that Liam Hemsworth is replacing Gerry in Brillant but, if you read the article attached to the posts from the U.K. site Dark Horizon it doesn't say Liam is replacing Gerry. It reports that Luketic has a second project pending with Liam. Here is the article: Liam Hemsworth Set For Luketic's Next By Garth Franklin With Gerard Butler joining "Motor City" today, it has brought into question the fate of Robert Luketic's diamond heist thriller "Brilliant".
Butler replaced Eric Bana on "Brilliant" a month ago and at the time the film was aiming for a May shoot. Now with 'Motor' headed for a June start, it looks like "Brilliant" will be pushed back.
Talking with The Daily Telegraph this week, Luketic couldn't confirm when or where the film will be shot.
The filmmaker says "I have two films competing with each other. It's now a matter of the stars coming into alignment and small miracles being performed."
So if "Brilliant" is one of those films, what's the other? An as-yet-untitled project starring "The Hunger Games" actor Liam Hemsworth - "I can't really talk about it but we have had a couple of meetings and he has formally come on board. It will be shot in New York and Mumbai."
Luketic also has a revenge thriller starring Zhang Ziyi, an animated project in development with "Happy Feet" producers Animal Logic, and a TV series with the makers of hit Aussie period crime series "Underbelly".Someone did not read this article correctly! link www.darkhorizons.com/news/23458/liam-hemsworth-set-for-luketic-s-next?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twittershellie

We'll see, I'd say that the project Motor City and some others likely has better scripts. Gerry turned down priest and with the amount of time it ran at the box office, it was NOT a great move. I'm glad Gerry has taken some smaller roles in some of these movies. Sometimes it's not the size of the role. Or that you have to be the STAR of the film, but sometimes it's the quality of the character. Like the stranger in Frankie.

www.wickedleaked.com/2012/04/butlers-brilliant-in-boston.htmlGerard Butler is set to star in the diamond heist flick "Brilliant" shooting in Boston. The story follows master thief and rich playboy Charlie Beaumont as he recruits a beautiful young cat burglar to help him steal $1 billion dollars worth of diamonds in a daring heist. However, the duo's relationship is fraught with twists and turns. Filming was originally slated for a May start but has since been pushed back to later this year.

I think what all these Hollywood types do is they have a lot of project balls up in the air and they just see what lands first. The more balls you got the more juggling you have to do but it means you are busy and that's the key thing. Have to say this is sounding a bit romcommy for my tastes, more so than the original plot description. The Thomas Crowne Affair remake with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo will forever be my favourite "forced couple" heist movie. [ Connery and Zeta Jones movie close second. ] Unless they are willing to find an age appropriate female lead who can hold her own vs the Butler on screen, someone with Russo's kind of presence. Russo almost had that old 40/50's kind of glamour and beauty and presence. Mind you so does Pierce in the right role. And actually Gerry could as well, but he's never exploited that yet, too bad - White Jazz would have been the perfect vehicle, 50's crime noir. So wish he would do some cable TV shows even just as a guest star for a few episodes.

The movie follows a group of seasoned thieves who recruit a small-time crook as they prepare for the biggest diamond heist in history. Variety also notes that the studio is still searching for a female lead before the project begins production this May in Boston. It sounds like it could be busy a summer for Butler, who was recently released from rehab, since he is also attached to the film Thunder Road which is expected to begin filming (in Baton Rouge, LA) in May as well.
