Gerry was in a very good mood and the interviewer was funny and unphased too.

What on Earth are we to assume he meant as an answer to the most crucial question at 2min? Whatever he meant he looked hilarious. :-)

He did say he was single in Chicago and from the looks of it there was someone "not so serious" when he was in London. So are we to assume he managed to find "love" while heavily promoting MGP and flying all over? Good for you G! Than man can do nothing wrong! :-)

I just hope the "nothing serious" person is enjoying him as much as she can while she can. I mean it's bad enough he said out loud that it's nothing serious. The least he can do for her is make sure she is getting the best "time" of her life (and by "time" you know what I mean but we have minors around so one needs to be careful, LOL!).

I think as long as it's not serious he would consider himself single so I think he could have been seeing this person when he was in Chicago already. Of course he is out dating and seeing people. He may date/see even more than one person, who knows? He isn't sitting at home being celibate...

But this interview is two months old. It may be a completely different story now. Gerry's life is extremely fast-paced. So I don't know if it's even worth speculating a whole lot of who and when and what... I didn't get the feeling he had somebody "special" there at his b-day nor is planning on spending Thanksgiving with somebody special, but I could be wrong. We may never know.

I just realised what he said when he is asked about children: he wants to have "legitimate" ones! I am in stitches. I can't believe he said it like that. Well, once raised a Catholic, always a Catholic. :-) It's like listening to a Greek person talking. :-)

Poor Gerry, he cannot pull a Hugh Grant obviously, he'll have to find a wife to have the babies.

But seriously though, joking aside, this only proves to me that he takes the things that matter seriously and people should give him more credit about his personal life.

And the good stuff doesn't end there. Watch out for the English accent in "Do I play football?" I hope Scottish people don't hate me but he sounded soooo sexy.

As for the dying young in Parkhead talk, it had me in stitches. What a great interview. I hope we find a bigger version of it but I am thankful to the person who managed to put that on YouTube!

Well Gerry has said he was single or there was no one special in other interviews around the same time as this interview and no one has really seen him with any one female recently that wasn't a PR person or co-star or no one has reported so, so if there is someone special she'll be peeved. I would unless this was discussed in detail before hand.

I sometimes think Gerry is getting a lot of pressure even from his own Team to seem less like a frivolous playboy, part and parcel of being taken as a serious actor. Certainly he's been very low key during the filming Of Men and Mavericks but then so has the whole cast except the guys all excited about the San Fran get together and I am getting a sense that Curtis Hanson runs a very tight professional ship, there have been comments about the professionalism of the crew from the locals, and weather like with PTF has caused some issues along with a lot of night shooting.

Mind you Leo DeCaprio after dumping Blake Lively is apparently going through the model roster of Australia [but that too may just be PR babies] and he bucking for some Oscar gold for sure this year. However Leo has the good fortune of being considered a serious actor by almost everyone in the industry whereas Gerard has not had that good fortune. Whether it is his exceptional good looks or all the roles he has played esp the romcoms people do focus on his love life more than many other actors and it is like being a beautiful woman and not being taken seriously, just as hard for a guy too really. To some extent Gerry has been part of the problem esp in 2009 and 2010 things he was saying were inconsistent and certainly inconsistent with his behaviour. I think sometimes he is torn about how he wishes to be perceived and this struggle is confusing to others as perhaps to him as well. Just my pop psychology two cents.

He put his foot in his mouth before,when or around the time he was dating Jasmine Burgess, he told Terri Seymour in an interview that he had 4 girlfriends or 4 someones and none of them was special or something to that effect and the gossip is they broke up pretty soon afterwards if they weren't already broken up or in the process of breaking up. Some allege he was letting Jasmine know it was over or his sense of humour may not go over well with women in his life. Gerry perhaps still has to learn a few things about females. Women do not like to be dismissed like that - you want to keep our relationship private and we've agreed to that fine but don't belittle me even if you think it is a joke or a joke designed to change the subject, I don't think any girlfriend would find that funny. Just saying.

If perhaps he had just met someone before that interview that he hopes has potential but he's not sure where it is going yet, that's a possible reason for his wishy washy answer and good for him. One of his problems is he meets women who are just as busy as he is and it is very hard to maintain a relationship if you are in different countries, different cities, different continents etc- passing ships in the night. It is possible all this stuff about Gerry wanting to settle down is a set up for some announcement down the road because it is rather hilarious to see this as leading news on all these gossip sites and even then he says he's not in a relationship like that but that he wants to be sometime in the future.

Or he got caught offguard and couldn't decide where to go with the question. Or he was trying to give his mother hope LOL. Or maybe he was deciding whether he wanted to ask the interviewer out for a drink later LOL.

Thanks for finding that Terez because I had found a reference to an interview of Gerry on OK TV and was hunting all around for it on various OK! sites and could not find it. There must be another copy of it on an OK TV site or maybe Youtube. I wonder if any of that made OK! Magazine.

I found it hard to hear unfortunately and I have the volume up on max on my computer speaker and on Youtube, so I'll have to listen to it a few more times I guess. Maybe get some headphones out.

Anyway as we always say here until you see Gerry in public with the same woman several times and/or he proudly proclaims he is in love no one can say one way or the other what that boy is up to.

I totally agree and think you have covered all the angles. Gerry has been saying that he wants to settle down for many years, I remember several interviews from around 300 where he talked in detail about that. I think he is torn. Part of him really wants to settle down, but another part does not because I think he loves his freedom way too much (I know I sound like a broken record on that.) I think him talking about settling down is a mixture of what a portion of Gerry wants (but maybe not all of Gerry wants) and it also may be part of PR. Often in an interview he says that he wants to get married but you watch his eyes and body language and that says the opposite...

Also consider the interview is 2 months old... We have no clue what's going on in Gerry's life.... his relationship status probably has changed more than once since...

It's probably hard for the girl to hear it's not serious, but at least he is honest and doesn't promise her the world and then lets her hanging. I don't really think as busy as he is right now he is all that interested in settling down. Even in that article that every gossip site is quoting he says it will happen when it happens, he doesn't seem in a rush or desperate about it. Funny thing after all the rags exhausted the first part of that article, now they're all over the second part where he talks about dating a co-star being a bad idea.

I have friends who are on match.com and they're seeing people all the time but most of it is not serious. They still consider themselves single. I think you're single until you're in a serious, committed relationship so even if Gerry says he's single, he still may be seeing somebody... possibly even several somebodies.

You said a mouthful girl. If I were a gal he was seeing and things seemed to be going good. I think if he belittled what we had to the media in an effort (he says) to maintain his privacy, I would be hurt. I would much rather have him say, "No comment..." when asked.

He could actually get around this if he used his noggin. He could say no comment and have a signal for his special gal of the moment like scratching his nose or pulling his ear as a secret signal to the gal that he is thinking of her.

GA and Canadia-you have very good points on this comment of his. I had just read that description of Gerry someone posted and this fit into he can sound wishy washy sometimes. He doesn't generally come off wishy washy so this seems unusual esp on this subject.

He could be trying to keep his life private so he's acting wishy washy. Don't know why he can't just say no like he normally does. Maybe he met a lady very recently and didn't know how to describe it but saying it's not serious is pretty deadly. Any female thinking it could possibly turn serious would be hurt. I agree he seems to be up front about it all being temprorary. He doesn't share how he acts with women he's truly interested in. He likes to be mysterious so maybe he was trying to be that way on purpose.

Someone asked him about having kids at the HTTYD premiere and he said he wanted kids. I think she asked about adopting kids and he said "no". I believe as long as his mom is alive he will have to have legitimate kids. He has been brought up Catholic and even though he's not a practicing Catholic he has those values instilled in him and his mom will surely lose it if he has illegitimate kids while she breathes.
He certainly doesn't want a routine mundane life so if he does get married he will have to find someone as adventurous as him so they aren't getting too routine.

He is far from committing to a woman from all I've seen. I do think it will happen one day. When we are ready! Just joking.

What a funny interview....you know that feeling when you have just met some-one and you really really like them but you don't want to say so , in case things don't work out. And, when asked - you just can't help smiling .. Well , that is the impression i get from that interview. He clearly is (or was) seeing some-one who made some impression on him. We didn't get the usual response of , " no not seeing anyone special , just dating - I am busy & single"...
I hope he finds true love & someone to share his 'busy' life with.

That 2:00 mark could have been anything from "I'm *just* meeting/thinking of someone, so we'll all see, no pressure" to someone (or someones...tee hee) being present in is life, but he's already made it clear to her that she's a consenting, favorite "go to/FWB," and doesn't want to even infer any changes in intention or dynamic right now (er, then). I'm keeping in mind that the question was piggy-backed on WANTING CHILDREN. That is daaaaangerous territory to play in. So, IMHO, that sound bite could be more about WHERE he is in his life, and not about WHO may or may not be in his life presently. No one is/would be "special" yet. Of course there's a million other possibilities, and all could be wrong. And after two months, all could have changed. But he seemed definite on the "No. There's nothing serious. No." No?

How many times has that "looking to settle" bit has been taken out of context recently, while conveniently omitting "No. I can wait...it'll happen when it happens?" Can you IMAGINE if he confirmed he wants kids AND happens to hint that there's someone "special" in his life in an interview, even if she isn't the one he ultimately partners/fathers up with?!?!? The media (read I) would have a friggin' fit trying to find any dark-featured woman in his life to label "The One," when she might not even be the one of a few still present. There would be a complete invasion of privacy of every female without a wedding ring that may incidentally stand next to him, and heaven help if she's sporting a beer or burrito belly, because it'll be labeled "baby bump" without question or investigation. I can see the "BRAWNY BACHELOR WANTS BABY! NOW!!!" covers now. It's a tricky thing...

Yes, your absolutely right when it comes to the media and how they twist things... I mean if they asked him if he is ready to settle down, at 42 he almost is required to say "yes" (unless he's George Clooney)... If he says "no" that would open up a whole lot of speculations... He also has to once in a while admit to being in a relationship. If he always says "no"... again... that would raise a whole lot of questions... So he has to be very careful about what he says about all that and we have to also be careful not to jump to any conclusions one way or another. I think as long as he doesn't say that he is in a serious relationship or doesn't take a lady to a premier/event, he is (mostly) single but of course he's dating as much as his career allows.

Whatever he meant, the "nothing serious" part is probably the most important bit i think. Cuz either it's the truth, or he just torpedoed his "relationship."

I don't think Gerry's ready for "his" woman yet. Just don't. So in the meantime, not worth worrying about. This is the same man who sounded like he was still very much playing the field on Howard Stern, and the same man who spent the rest of the U.K. press tour flirting his arse off and telling everyone he was single.

It may be that he didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Which would be more sensitive of him than we've seen in the past. I also think he's really trying to downplay the playboy thing.

Bottom line, like others have said, it's been 2 1/2 months since. Not to be mean, but I'm willing to bet whatever it may have been, it's over. I don't know how he would juggle such a thing right now.

And GA's right---from what little we heard about his birthday, it sounded like he went out with a bunch of guys.

I'm NOT saying he was/is with anyone. I have not a clue. Sorry, if my wording may have implied otherwise.

From the beginning of the MGP junket in Chicago, until the UK leg, he easily claimed his single status. But his feathers were clearly ruffling at indicating a "special lady," in this London interview. It came off as he MAY have been working on an understanding with someone(s) who is/could be in his bed, if not in his heart at the time. A favored UK-only FWB or a potential new UK-only jump-off might have been tuning in, who was fully aware and wholly agrees with their fun-only status. Not his definition of "special," but...? Eh, as long as everyone are single, consenting, "protected" adults, right? As others have stated, there could be a host of personal to professional reasons for the unusual (for G) response that are beyond my limited imagination and unfair speculation.

So I'm essentially saying, even **IF** there was someone, anyone around the London visit, there have been G sightings SINCE London that don't mention/cross-reference a female companion. IF there is someone, it *seems* extremely casual, at best. Again, I can't say that for sure.

So time will have to tell, because G ain't gonna.
