I confess. I’m a Gerry Junkie and a Music Junkie so I decided to find out what kind of music my husband’s understudy listens to. I had a little trouble tracking down a lot of info in one handy place so I thought I’d share what I came up with. The confirmed came from Mr. Sexy-Britches himself…there’s video to prove it. The remainder comes from various interviews, fan sites, fan forums etc. I would offer a playlist too but I’m new to about half of these artists/groups and have no clue what their best songs are. Direct quote from him when asked what’s on his iPod: “Oh my God. Sigur Ros is one of my favorites. Mogwai. Windy and Carl. I love kind of weird music. I love a bit of Radiohead. Massive Attack. LCD Soundsystem.” www.redeyechicago.com/entertainment/movies/redeye-qa-gerard-butler-of-machine-gun-preacher-20110922,0,4199456.story Confirmed: Sigur Ros Mogwai Windy and Carl Radiohead Massive Attack LCD Soundsystem Presumed: The Doors – sings their songs alot Rolling Stones – at least he prefers them over the Beatles www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=100989119931790 Grateful Dead Eric Clapton – sang his songs with his band in Scotland www.blackfilm.com/20041217/features/gerardbutler.shtml Jimi Hendrix - see Clapton link Unconfirmed at least by me, but have seen mentioned in other forums: The song Vide Cor Meum from the Hannibal soundtrack Olafur Arnalds Bent U2 Coldplay Amy McDonald

Very impressive research Rhonda - speaking as a teacher, I think Gerry could serve as a good educational model on how to motivate people to learn - begin with what interests you And you know the thing about understudies? They are usually given the matinee performances to practise - let me know how that goes

Oh God! Finally I hear that someone listen Sigur Rós. I have been listening them since 1999 when my Scandinavian friends introduced their music to me. It is very weird, it’s true. You can't listen them while running or partying. But if you find the right moment and place, you will easily understand. It is so beautiful.

BBC 6Music ran a season of one hour radio shows where UK Actors and Directors spent an hour playing and chatting about their favourite records. Michael Sheen, Sally Hawkins and Nick Frost were just a few who took part. If ever the show returns I think Gerard would be a perfect guest host and would love to hear his choices.
If you are interested in hearing what others actors picked Go to BBC 6 Music and click on A Month of Sunday's.

I think I read somewhere that Gerry went to a U2 show. He's friends with Bono and attended the party Bono hosted at the One resturant in Toronto in September. Also I think he listens to alot of tunes that mellow him out, or make him sullen so he can get ready for parts that are sad..because he's such a happy person.

Finally I hear that someone listen Sigur Rós. yes, it's true. different music for different occasions and moments in life I had listened to Sigur Rós a time or two before my Gerry search. I like it but def have to be in the mood for it. Wish I could remember the name of the song I liked though. The Icelandic titles throw my memory off. I agree…Gerard would be a great guest! Also I think he listens to a lot of tunes that mellow him out, or make him sullen so he can get ready for parts that are sad..because he's such a happy person. Ditto! That’s why I love music so much. It can pick me up when I’m feeling low and calm me down when I’m stressed. Gotta have my tunes!

I wouldn't say that's 'weird'. Just 'unique'. My Mum listens to this music especially Windy&Carl and when I was younger I used to laugh with her. But now I see that their stuff is interesting and I may like it. WHO KNOWS.Hahahah
