Hello everyone! I thought that this was the best place to ask. I just opened up an album in photobucket as I have decided to try my hand at creating avvies, siggies & walls. Right now all I have is Paintshop so my creations thus far are, if I'm honest with myself, amateurish at best. Can anyone reccommend a good "starter" software that won't intimidate the ever-living heck out of me? Much obliged and have a great day everybody! Paisley

When I first started messing around I used a little program called Microsoft Picture It! and it was excellent for someone just learning because back then Photoshop may as well have been in Japanese to me. Then one day I realized I had mastered Picture It and I had no choice but to learn Photoshop if I wanted to expand my abilities. However, I'm not sure if Picture It is compatible with newer computers so it depends. You could find it to DL for free and give it a shot.

I use Paint Shop Pro but it is very hard to figure out and not user-friendly. I took a class in Photoshop and liked it much better! But it's way more expensive than Paint Shop Pro so for now Paint Shop Pro has to do.... and I need a new siggy, this one is ancient which reflects in the not so great quality as well. Used to make them all the time years ago, but just didn't have any time lately and Paint Shop Pro is such a PITA that I have shied away from it....
So... I would invest in Photoshop. There is a lot of help out there for instance on youtube. There are videos on how to use it.

OK.... I got inspired and made myself a new siggy.... Paint Shop Pro is still a PITA but once you figure the basics out you can do some cool stuff with it....

I tried out Paint Shop Pro and just couldn't get on with it. I've found some brilliant tutorials online for Photoshop over the years, so my vote goes to Photoshop
