I am over the moon about this!
GA, I love James Patterson, I just started "Cross Country" and I ADORED "Step On A Crack" the first Michael Bennett book. It is such a great plot and as I read it I kept thinking that G should play him. I can't wait to read "Tick Tock". Wow, if G could be cast as Michael Bennett it would feature a full range of acting for him. NYC Dectective who lost his wife to cancer, being a single father to 10 children, all adopted if I recall correctly and his father-in-law, a widower who became a priest. A fiesty Irish nanny/housekeeper. Really smart writing. Great characters.
Please let this come true!!!

And for those like me who are ignorant of James Patterson's books, here is an article on his latest bestseller with the character Michael Bennett Tick Tock Is Another Winner From PattersonJames Patterson's latest novel is a continuation of the story of New York City Police Detective Michael Bennett. This series is co-written with Michael Ledwidge and explores the problems that come with being a detective while trying to raise ten adopted children as a single parent. This blending of the criminal and the domestic makes for a fully satisfying story. For the rest of the article www.huffingtonpost.com/jackie-k-cooper/tick-tock-is-another-winn_b_816509.html

Patterson had 2 profitable book-to-movies, KISS THE GIRL and ALONG CAME A SPIDER the late 1990's/early 2000's, right? I thought Ashley Judd was so attractive... So is Idris Alba or Tyler Perry slated to play "Dr Alex Cross," another Patterson character (originally portrayed by Morgan Freeman) in the re-boot of the character? Good for Gerard, even if he only gets producing rights, and doesn't act in it. The basic premise of TICK TOCK sounds intriguing. I'll have to check the series out (of my local library) just for my own general reading pleasure, but I hope it is more "true" to how his dangerous job affects his stressful home/love life. Not dumbed-down to make it more cute. I would prefer suspense with warm/humorous moments. The other way around could make the story seem full of distraction and unsure of it's genre/audience, which is not always a good thing. But that's just one fan's opinion.

Great find! I got a feeling that Gerry would like a shot a producing this project also. It does look like Idris Elba got replaced by Tyler Perry for the role as Alex Cross. Tyler Perry is very popular and I think he could be pull it off but Idris Elba would have been perfect casting. I was sorry to read about the change. It does seem like it is a revolving door for high profile roles I guess a lot has to do with availability of actors once a project gets the green light. Thanks for the news hope this one gets that green light with Gerry at the wheel.
