thanks for this post! YES Pat...what a terrific cause...kids kicking cancer! PLUS....PLUS...you know very nice and, this is PRECISELY why i am making a documentary film about gerry and his fans....being 'new' to 'fandom' as time went on joining this hysterical & informative site...i became overwhelmed with the notion there is more here than meets the eye. taking a sturdy look into this matter...flabbergasted. worldwide...literally thousands of women, transecting all borders, age groups, languages, stations in life (socio-economic)...have fallen 'smitten' with gerry butler. and many, many gals have 'paid it forward' to the rest of humanity...usually those hurting & less fortunate. even if a woman fan of gerrys hasn't started a non-profit or wrote an exquiste book or painted a fabulous work of art in his honor....just the day to day rigors of life, hardships and all....when a simple woman looks into those radically deep, blue-green eyes...and laughs & cheers & sobs over gerards triumphs & falls...she becomes a different person...and thereby...takes her 'swooning self' out there to love & help those living around her! right? you bet.... this is the story. and, it needs to be told.... but, these kids who receive the help, love, support during their life & death battle will ultimately....live out the end result of this story. how sweet.

I already donated when one of my dearest friends died of cancer... So I did it only for the kids... because if I win, I even won't make it to the plane... I'm such a shy girl....

Thanks Pat for the article, Karma for you... I wonder what the winning donation will be? Although I'm sure we will never find out because that would just be in poor taste. I am sure however that the winning donation will be sizable.

It's drawn at random. Every $20 donated gets you a chance. So although a person may donate a lot of $, that just = lots of chances. Not necessarily a better chance. So give, give, give! It's a fantastic cause and if I wasn't working full-time, I would be looking into starting a chapter here in my hometown.
And Kyriem, doll, if you win, I will come and get you and put you on that plane. You only live this life one time, so grab it by the horns!

Okie, I know I've only this chance to live, I'm so fearless in everything that it sounds even weird to hear myself to talk like that...but with men I'm totally shy... guess it would be even worse with a famous one...Gerry should talk all the time alone... Gosh...
If I win I'll wait for three or four people to tie me into that plane...

That was very generous. So Gerry is going to spend the day with one of the children or is the cost of the date going back to the charity? If the later is true, how fun, it will be like Dear Frankie. I could see Gerry taking some lucky boy to a sports event and then some fun place to eat. To tell you the truth I think Gerry would enjoy this more then a date with a fan...Unless the fan were me and in that case he would have to have the shit slapped out of him after the date just to knock the smile off his face!

I think that is so awesome, that she did that. Some lucky kid spending the day with G. I am afraid if one of us in here had won the date, he would be VERRA happy aswell, but you're right, Di, he might be walking around in a daze for quite some time after that...Hehehe

Yep it wouldn't have happened for me, I would have had to give the date back as well hubby would not have been happy. I asked my hubby about it an he said... "Well, if I could go too as chaperon." Then he kind of laughs and says, "I know how that man works! I've seen the tapes, he thinks he can just walk up to any violinist on the street and just start making out with her.... He'd have you sweet talked in no time!"

Yes, Gerry thinks he can, he did and he could. That Mr. B for ya'! I would have to give that date back too. My hubby, as much as he tolerates my G obsession, a date would probably be off limits. Unless the date could be at our house? My hubby actually thinks Gerry is a great actor, and enjoys most of his movies, so for G to come to my house, and have dinner or something and spend the evening talking to him over some red wine would be awesome. my husband would enjoy that too. I just don't know if i would be able to restrain myself.
