I'm really confused. I didn't think they had something called an Americano at Starbucks. That's what he ordered in Dear Frankie. He just orders a watered down espresso? ACK. Geez. No wonder he doesn't sleep. OR... The Americano was ordered by the character as written in the script. A little thing in script-writing known as "Show, don't tell." Instead of the Stranger giving us long-winded dialogue telling us he is the strong, silent, no-frills, no attachments type, he orders a Cafe Americano. Simple, direct, and everyone remembered it. Black espresso without the fey little demitasse cup. Exactly what a hard-living European sailor would be expected to drink. Sort of like how in Westerns, the shootist always orders a shot of whiskey. Remember Meg Ryan's scenes in restaurants throughout the movie "When Harry Met Sally?" Just her order told you everything you needed to know about that very high-maintenance character... even if they hadn't gone into a long discussion about the order itself. Sometimes I worry folks confuse the actor with the character a bit too much. Nilla, we missed you!!!! Your comment hits the nail right on the head but actually that is exactly the coffee drink Gerry ordered every time he went into the Detroit Starbucks.... It's strong to keep the caffeine headache and gets him wired at bay and it is low in calories. It also does the work of an energy drink without the sugar crash. That is probably why he likes it.

Yes she did hit the nail on the head. I know a LOT of fans who do that, especially with the Phantom. LOL Sorry but I had to ask to make sure that wasn't happening. ROTF. Again, definitely not something I'll order just because he does.
Can you imagine what would happen if he didn't have it? The headache he would go through? OH MY GOD. Poor baby. Good thing he has a good Scottish cast-iron stomach to handle it!

www.celebrity-hot-spot.com/gerard-butler-in-melvindale-mi-on-july-12th-2010/That is the cop that screamed in my face...for no reason I may add... and it happened right before Gerry walked up to me and put his arm around me, so Gerry witnessed that cop's bad behavior. Kloudancer said that when Gerry approached me and it became obvious I was someone who he wanted to give special attention to that day, the cop slithered off like he was afraid he was going to get into trouble. What you all don't know about the little history between us and that cop is; in the middle of the day when Gerry went to lunch, me, Kloudancer, and my daughter walked back to that room we rented to get our car keys because we were going to sneak off and grab lunch as well. Now we had to walk around the block and when we got just a couple feet from our room that cop surprised us. Seems he followed us all that way thinking we were up to no good. He asked us where we were going (in a loud authoritative voice) and we all turned around and looked at him like, WTF because we had every right to be where we were. We pointed to our room and I know we looked at him like he was freaken nuts.... Well I think he got really embarrassed. He thought he was doing a real piece of detective work by taking the initiative to follow us and it backfired and he looked like the ass. He walked off but not after stammering, "W-w-well you ladies better not interfere with any of the filming!" We just stared at him. What a schmuck! Then we all witnessed as later that evening a group of twenty something year old girls came to the film site and ran up and hugged him. It was obvious he had been bragging that he was guarding Gerard Butler. He started to take the girls into the film site when the security guard hired by the film crew stopped him and made him take those girls right back where they came from. He knows we saw that embarrassing thing happen so he was holding a huge grudge against us.

I don't check in for a couple of days and LOOK at all the new stuff! Awesome new pictures. Those are from Cheli's Chili at the wrap party! HOW AWESOME! Where'd you find them?! Diane, I LOVE your story about following in his footsteps. I want a cupcake now. I might have to hit Whole Foods for one. And some coffee. Mmmm coffee. Missed you, ladies! I've been crazy busy with derby stuff lately. We're doing a Mad Men style photo shoot on Sunday and I'm trying to scrounge up something to wear.

You have such a classic beauty to your face you could so pull off a mad man look. You need someone to do your hair in a updo like a bee hive, or a french twist. Make sure you use heavy eyeliner that looks cattish... Oh I wish you lived closer to me... I'd put your hair up for you!!! PEARLS you need pearls!!!!!

Exclusive story: This is a former Miss Teen USA Michigan and she is the cousin of one of the tellers where I do my banking and she gave me the exclusive story... We have quite a few pix of Gerry so maybe we can pin point the date this was taken and it was either right before LC came to Detroit or right after. The story is Gerry saw this lovely girl in Birmingham where he was here recently filming MGP and his Man-dar went off, leading him to her like a scud missile. This beauty is exactly his type; Arabic decent beautiful and exotic. He made a fast bee-line to her and told her she was stunningly beautiful and they exchanged information for a future date, however the deal breaker was when The Butler found out she was still a delicate nineteen years old and he passed on the date but she got a picture and an awesome story out of the experience.

Do we know that name of that restaurant, no dates on the photos? Good idea about the watermark. I seem to recall him wearing that hat earlier then he got the Blackhawk one and then he got the Detroit Tiger one, he seemed to be wearing the DT one at few times at the end of his stay in Detroit. Great photo in any event Actually the c&ck hat has been missing has it not - don't think he has worn it in D town. Checking earlier photos now in this thread.

Pretty girl.Definitely looks like Gerry is still looking for that special one and only. But, I am having a feeling he will never find her if he hasn't by now.
My advice would be - Just stay single Gerry just like Mr. George Clooney and continue to enjoy your life and make movies!
Finally, I'm glad to read that the fact she was only 19 years old was a deal breaker for a date. Smart man.

Well I am not so sure he is actually looking for that special one because he isn't really ready in his head yet, clearly, or really hasn't met that special person. You usually meet the one that knocks you off your feet when you aren't expecting it and if you are ready in your head to settle down at that same time, the stars align. I do agree that the longer you live that freewheeling lifestyle the harder it may be to change but I have to feel that in the end it can be a lonely one at times. George Clooney at least has the public girlfiriend that he clearly spends time with regardless of what else he may be up to at other times. I mean making that movie Up in the Air and men like George and Gerry watching that movie, wonder what that got Geore thinking , has to make you rethink your priorities. I have to watch it yet but just going by the snippets I have seen I believe it is about a man like George and Gerry who plays the field, prefers to travel "light" and who finally meets his match and realizes he doesn't want to grow old alone.
I have a female friend who while not a player in the male sense was a serial monogamist. Except for one time she is always been the dumper and the one time she was a dumpee it really really bothered her though I thought he was probaby the biggest jerk she ever dated and she should have just been happy to be rid of him except unfortunately he was a work colleague so she had to put up with him every day thereafter, well she no longer works there so she's free of him now.
Most of her relationships had a shelf life of 18 months to a year, a few hit just over 2 years, which sounds like Gerry when he has bothered to have something that resembles a relationship just she was not on the hunt during those relationshps and she would ask me what is wrong with me and knowing her so well and knowing most of the men she dated, a few didn't last long enough for me to meet, I truly believed she had not meet the right man. Now her second to last boyfriend we all loved him and I couldn't believe that one ended but her current boyfriend she has been with the longest, they actually bought a house together and he is perfect for her, he is very funny and active. Some people take longer to find that right person some never find that right person and some people are happy to find good enough for now and maybe that turns into the right person down the line. Oftentimes too the right person is right underneath your nose and you never see it.
Her first boyfriend was a great guy and we both wondered was that a mistake when she broke off with him, they were in uni, first love, but then knowing the kind of life she has lead and enjoyed, it might not have worked.
But you know if you know you can't commit, better off to be honest and carry on a single person rather than hurt all kinds of people. Nothing wrong with being perpetually single either if that pleases you.

Settling down after a certain age (30-35) is VERY hard. I am in the same boat as Gerry. I haven't met the ONE yet either. Sometimes I'm lonely and it hurts... but then there are other times I am so glad that I am single and can go out with friends whereever and whenever I want to. Gerry is even more of a free spirit than I am and even though parts of him want to settle down, others don't. I believe he is not ready yet. I am glad to see he is still checking out other girls. As long as he's still single I can fantasize about him without guilt...LOL I often hope I'll find the one before he'll find the one....LOL But it's tough in an area where there are no men around in my age group.... Oh well.... until then I'll make the best of single-dom...LOL
PS... I hated the end of "Up In The Air" because it was so depressing. It made me feel completely worthless being single. But that is so wrong and should not be promoted. If you are single you have to make the best of it, there is no other choice. Sitting home and griefing your single-ness is not a solution. You have to go out and have fun and meet people, or at least try.
That girl is beautiful but she does NOT look 19!!!! More like mid-late 20ies. I'm not blaming Gerry going for her and more respect to him for declining a relationship. In Europe in would be totally legal (you have to be 18).... still... it would be... kind of gross....
