-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi everyone! Not sure if i'm posting this in the right place but think i should share my encounter with peeps who will appreciate it. I've been a huge fan since Timeline and have been smitten ever since. So when i heard he was going back to Glasgow for the LAC premiere i knew i had to go. The only problem was that Nov 15th was my son Adam's 12th b/day so after giving my better half the news i was off in persuit of 'The Butler' i had to clear it with Adam. He said he didnt mind at all as he had things olanned with his friends anyway. So my best friend Mairead and i booked the ferry from Belfast to Scotland and off we went. When he finally got there he was so lovely to the fans, greeting as many as physically possible which is very important. I found him to be shorter than i expected. He smelt unbelievable and his stubble rubbemy right cheek (face lol) which is something i shall never forget. Here it is www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0s8J0CxoXMIt was worth all the effort for those few seconds of Gerry madness. If you ever get the chance to do the same, do it! Cathy x But what I want to know Cathy is if his stubble was harsh and rough or more soft and silky?

Here is one more i found. When a few of us fans waited at the back of the cinema in Glasgow to catch our final glimpse of the night. You can just about see me and my friend with our cameras across the road. Gerry took the time to surprise everyone and actually get out and greet some girls that didn't have the pleasure before. I was calling him over to us and right before he gets back into the car he shouts "But I've already seen you!" And that my friends was and always will be the best diss from a man EVER lol!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3_KgYgL2t0

ooh, my goodness. gamma...that MUST have been a fantastic night!
from start to finish, 1st off - taking that chance, right ...then, THEN the work (energy, excitement, anticipation) getting there....the waiting...the tension..the build-up! woa. i really, sincerely sensed all of it esp. in these vid's....the one girl became so overwhelmed....i understand. to 'see' gerry in the flesh must be something. he really does exude such a lovely, generous spirit....it seems he likes the interaction. he's calm, easy-going about it all...when its good its good.
thanks

I can't take it. These are wonderful stories! So inspiring, and makes you feel like he's a god among men! But really, that he is a great person, down to earth, very giving, appears grateful for his fans and fame. And now proof on this thread!
Thank you all for posting. Can't wait to see some more! And of course, can't wait for my chance encounter.....he has been to TO, so who knows?

All these stories are so nice to read. Aww. He seems so cool and nice with his fans. I'm quite shy and it would probably feel really awkward but I can't deny that I would really like to meet him. The thing is when you go to a premiere there are so many people. I wouldn't want to be disappointed. :/

I travelled to Glasgow hoping to catch a glimps of the guy so to get what i got was the best thing ever! Get there early, as in super early and get the best spot you can. He has time for everyone. If you never try, you never will receive. I'm sure we all hope for the random, chance meeting - and that is always possible, but what are the odds?
I did have a chance random meeting this past weekend with a celebrity, and I wasn't nervous at all - maybe because I'm not as huge a fan as I am of GBs....anyway, we were in a salsa bar and I just went over and started talking to him and he paid me great compliments, made an unexpected naughty comment, lol, and we took some pictures, which I have yet to get from the friend of friend.....we hugged, he smelled great and that was that.
It was random, fun, he was having a good time with drinks and friends, and I didn't feel shy at all. I figured, he's not gonna come to me, so just do it. I also think that because I'm a bit older (35) and not a crazed teeny-bopper or 20 something, I didn't give a shit if I looked stupid!
I did keep ranting, why couldn't that be Gerry, why, why, why all weekend long.....but what's the use! All I know is, anything is possible. They are all people, and we all go home to our families, life goes on. I should definitely hang out down in that part of the city more often - that's where celebrities would go anyway.....come September, I'm going to be staked out there searching for Gerry - that's where they have the Toronto Int'l Film Festival.
Just thought I'd share!

I get too nervous if it is someone I really like and I hate acting stupid. I used to be in a group that had special guest speakers every year, did you know Brent Butt is very very shy when he is not performing so I don't count those people. The only time I had a real conversation with someone remotely famous, it was because I did not have the hots for him, he came over to us, he was performing in a local bar and he was killing time mingling with the crowd, he came over to our group and I had no trouble talking to him even teasing him, he was a pleasant surprise, he was a sweetheart, articulate, down to earth so he did go up a few notches but still not babbleworthy, ie words don't come out of my usually too talkative mouth when it is someone I really admire, I feel I should be able to come up with something funny or witty or original not what every other person says and they have heard a million times and I can't come up with anything, my brain stops functioning. I was in same bar as some of the guys in one of my fav bands, and they are known to be friendly most of the time and I just couldn't muster up anything original to say and so just observed which was indeed fun enough. Especially watching drunk fans say and do the darnedest things. Though my fav member of the band was not there I might have fainted, my blood would have rushed right to my head and if it was Gerry well, I could go into a coma. LOL. For example I went to a CD release party for one of my fav female singers and she was autographing her CD for everyone, my friend says the perfect thing and she smiles and I said something I thought was being witty and she looked at me like I insulted her. I think because I was nervous the tone didn't come out right. And I was thinking why I am nervous meeting her, she's not even a hot guy. Sorry for being off topic.

Canadia, you're hilarious. What band were you referring to? I've met a few performers after concerts, because my friends wanted to, but for me it was fun, nothing terribly exciting. Totally depends on your fan and attraction meter. I see good lookers every day, you'd think that would help with this infatuation with GB, having eye candy on a regular basis, but something about Gerry ust doesn't come close to anybody or ever will. I think though, if I were to meet him, it would be easy, familiar, and orgasmic! We're obsessed with him, so what's left but to meet him? I would definitely not let shyness, or weirdness come into play, just go for it 100%, coma or no coma Great stories.

Agreed - He should certainly be on the list of highly addictive substances - use at your own risk (I wish, use....). I haven't thought about anything/anyone so damn much since I quit smoking ten years ago - - hard to kick addictive tendencies - not that I want to kick Gerry, but come on, there's got to be a way to get a grip! It very well may take years.....sigh....
