I had posted this in the thread with Press junkets, but decided to move it here, since it goes well with the stills of Gerry voice-recording. In this interview he talks about the challenges of performing without other actors. Just you as an actor. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBt3FpFvLXA

I'm coming in from being out at HTTYD. CUTE! Now if only they could give us the DVD in 3D! I was having trouble staying awake & not because it was boring, I was tired from a long day at work & going to the last showing of the night to avoid as many kids as possible. Seemed a lot of pre-teens were there. Adorable.
Now Gerry has done two dragon movies, cept this one...dragons rule which I love.
When it began & I heard Gerry's voice I thought "holy shit why can't they do a version of actors with Gerry in the lead in 3D!" "Why not redo Timeline in 3D or better yet Attila!"
I was in heaven listening to his voice.
Epic fail on trying to get the poster from the movie theater. Granted they do it for charity in June so I guess I have to bite my tongue. Then again someone who worked there & with the posters had put my name on a rather large one (larger than usual) a few months ago.
Now to try & figure out how to get the TBH poster.
Got a compliment on my Gerry purse *grins* So happy & it was a dude. He asked if I had seen TBH & I told him I had & it was cute & I was going to HTTYD because he was the voice of the Viking father. The guy just laughed. He could tell I was a big fan.

That is a definite true fan sign; to go to an animated movie just to hear his voice... he has a great voice. It makes me wish he would do books on CD or something.

Or even better...Gerry as the voice of Jamie Fraser in the Outlander series on cd! Gawd, I could just listen to his voice forever.
I didn't see this movie, and will probably wait for the dvd. There has got to be some cool extras/behind the scenes with the real live Gerry. My oldest daughter went and saw it with hubby yesterday, though, and she really liked it.

How To Train Your Dragon Soars To #1
How to Train Your Dragon” Voices of Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Gerard Butler. PG (intense action, brief mild language).
DreamWorks Animation has had much more success lately with original films (“Kung Fu Panda”) than with sequels to previous hits (“Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa”). The studio's latest movie (and the first of three this year) is an original, and it's a major success!
“How to Train Your Dragon” is based on the children's book series, but this adventure about a boy and his unusual friendship with a dragon really comes to life on the big screen.
Hiccup is a teenager and son of the leader of the Vikings. He's always wanted to be like his dad and everyone else, who fight and kill dragons to protect their land. But after he injures the rarest of all the dragons, a Night Fury, Hiccup realizes that he isn't like everyone else. So, instead of killing the dragon, which he names “Toothless,” the two become friends, and Hiccup learns that the dragons aren't the evil creatures everyone thinks they are.
The rest of the Vikings are still afraid of the dragons and so Toothless, Hiccup and his girlfriend Astrid have to find a way to save both the dragons and the village.
The look of “Dragons” is spectacular. The 3D may be the best I've ever seen in an animated film. The flying scenes put you right on the dragons and the battle sequences are fantastic.
The plot of the movie is simple, and we've seen the relationship between father and son (Hiccup's mother is dead, something else that's popular in animated films these days), and boyfriend-girlfriend in plenty of other films, but they work here because the writing is go good. And there are some dramatic elements that set the film apart from most, typical family films, including a twist at the end I never saw coming.
"Dragons" is funny, but also very serious at times, and it teaches several important lessons, but in an entertaining way. It's appropriate for everyone: little kids will enjoy the cute dragons and all the action, older kids and adults will like all of that too, plus they'll appreciate the wonderful story and amazing animation. It's clearly the best family film of the year, so far.
LCJ Rating: B+

WOOHOO! I don't like the plush dragons at WalMart. They look mean. Toothless is adorable & they should have made an adorable Toothless plush dragon.

Our walmart didn't have Stoick action figure.... they had Craig's character and of course Hiccup, but no Stoick. I agree that Toothless should have looked cuter, he looked cuter in the trailers.... if it's possible for a dragon to look cute.

This movie was fantastic! The water is AMAZING! Go see it in 3D if you get the chance. Toothless is very cute when he is mimicking Hiccup. Gerry's voice -- like one of those fur vests they wear -- rugged yet cozy. Go see this film!
