I have seen the film the 1925 two or three times, it is equal to the novel. I had to see for my thesis, but I've never regretted seeing it because I liked it even though mute The end did not like. I also found the scenes that reminded me of the film from the musical: they are more alike than you think.

I also found the scenes that reminded me of the film from the musical: they are more alike than you think. I really loved that Scumacher added the Phantom using the horse and had bedroom from the movie (1925) I guess ALW wanted to do this , but could't. The horse part is obvious. I did't like the end of the movie either . The orginial ending was the Phantom to die out of a broken heart , but the test audience did't like it , they wanted justice. So they made the mob istad. The Phantom movie became a precursor to all the monster movies like Dracula and Frankenstein. I guess the musical and the movies as aimed for more romance then horror flick. The movie from 1925 was more of a horror movie .

Schumacher has done a great job with the set design, is exceptional. It has also inspired the Opéra Garnier in fact many things are similar. From what I have been able to study, I believe that the cemetery was inspired to Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.
