The Aust. magazine Filmink (July edition) has a review of HTTYD2 online www.filmink.com.au and in the summer edition of TOTAL FILM they have a 3 pg feature with a small quote from Gerry "While Valka and Drago are the 2 major new additions,HTTYD will also see the return of Hiccup's gruff father,Stoick the Vast. This time, the proud Viking chieftain is even more Scottish, with Butler wheeling out the thickest brogue American ears can cope with. "At first, I thought I looked like ana idiot when they put all those American voices around me, says the actor. "But it's a nice destinction that the older more tradional Vikings have the old tongue." They also have their review too. A pretty good one, not too spoliery
Also there is a book called The Art of How To Train Your Dragon www.amazon.com/The-Art-Train-Your-Dragon/dp0062323350

Well, I went to see it last night! There was a complete stuff up with cinema times and we exchanged our tickets because you could not get a seat!
I absolutely loved it. It was so well made that I sometimes even forgot that it was an animated film the scenery was so good.
It was sad though and we had tears in our eyes (by the way, we were all "mature ladies..."
But all in all, very enjoyable ...

the aug edition of the australian magazine EMPIRE has a review of HTTYD2,it's pretty good. If you want to read it i pretty sure it will be on their website. I saw on the The Project last night that HTTYD2 is now at #3 at the aust box office(i think it started at 2?), Transformers 4 is 1 with 22 Jump Street at 2. Is anyone else disappointed that Jonah Hill did'nt do any press for the movie or go to the premeire?

Just an up-date on the Box Office numbers for HTTYD2 from Box Office Mojo: Domestic Total as of Jul. 13, 2014: $152,276,733Total Lifetime GrossesDomestic: $152,276,733 43.5%+ Foreign: $197,468,000 56.5%= Worldwide: $349,744,733
(I like the total in the Deadline Hollywood article - Box Office Mojo needs an update LOL)
Trade papers are reporting that Dreamworks, will not consider HTTYD2 a success unless it makes it to $400 million since HTTYD1 made $500 million. I think the movie will make it to $400 and more if they can secure a release in China which is being considered and not approved yet. Also, no release date has been scheduled for Japan.
Domestically, the movie is declining in theater counts, and I imagine it will loose even more screens next weekend with the Disney Planes movie opening, so the box office will start to slow, but I think it will make it to $160 million by the end of next weekend. It is sad though that the movie did not perform well domestically, HTTYD1 made $212 million domestically.
Edited 7/19/14 to note -- the theater counts for HTTYD2 have dropped for this weekend 7/18 another 712 theaters, it is down to 2,169 -716 -24.8% . The Domestic Total as of Jul. 16, 2014: $155,975,090 I think the movie will still make it to $160 million but with Disney's Pixar Planes opening in almost 4,000 theaters the movie will probably see its domestic run end with at least $165 million over the next month as theaters drop further. Counting now on the Foreign Box office to put the movie's B.O. at $400 million. This is still $94 million less than the first movie. It does makes you wonder if in the end the storyline was too mature for their targeted audience.
Edited 7/27/14 to note HTTYD2 lost another 811 theaters this weekend (7/25-7/27) and was #12 at BO $2,200,000 -43.7% 1,358 -811 estimated total $165,629,000

My copy of The Art Of HTTYD2 finally came. The foreword is actually done by Gerry and there are at least three more quotes by him throughout the book. Was it worth the $60 that i paid for it. You betchya If anyone wants to know what the exact quotes are let me know.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to put it.

Weekly up-date- Domestically, HTTYD2 is in it's waning days - theater counts was only 861 - so Domestic Total for the weekend was$1,215,000
Domestic Total as of Aug. 3, 2014: $168,569,000 (Estimate)
Better news Internationally:
Total Lifetime Grosses as of Aug. 3, 2014 Domestic: $168,569,000 36.4% + Foreign: $295,000,000 63.6% = Worldwide: $463,569,000
HTTYD2 has now past the foreign box office of HTTYD1 which was $277,297,528 The World Wide Total for HTTYD1 was $494 million so HTTYD2 is getting closer to matching that total. Two foreign markets are still schedule for August Italy and China - (still no news of a Japan release.) I hope Dragon2 will top the first movie by the end of it's foreign run.

Box office up-date - 8/10/14 Total Lifetime GrossesDomestic: $170,136,000 34.9% + Foreign: $317,700,000 65.1% = Worldwide: $487,836,000
www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=main&id=howtotrainyourdragon2.htmBox Office is moving closer to the World-wide total of HTTYD1 ($494 million),only $7 million more needed. With Italy & China (Japan?-not scheduled) still to release the movie, there is no doubt that total will be exceeded by the end of August. Edited to add A note on Deadline Hollywood about this weekends Foreign Box Office:
