This is not a movie rumor but hopefully it will be one.
During the course of my Online adventures I have become friendly with Diana Gabaldon, the author of the Outlander Series. Everyone wanted him to play Jamie, but Diana herself said that although she considers Gerry a fine figure of a Male Scotsman and a wonderful actor that even he couldn't pull off playing a twenty-two year old virgin. I begrudgingly agree.
I thought maybe Dougal McKenzie. Dougal is a very interesting character. He's a bit of a baddie but fiercely loyal to his clan. He has quite a few interesting scenes with Jamie and Claire and he would feature prominently in the first and second season but it would not tie Gerry up to much because he isn't the main character. He is however a very important character.
Dougal is married but beds any woman who strikes his fancy that is because his family lives far away from the clan castle and he is the McKenzie warlord. He keeps trying to get into the main female's panties. He is dangerous and shrewd. I think Gerry would have fun playing him.

Ladies, if you like the idea please RT me on twitter or start your own tweet. Gerry as Dougal McKenzie the warlord for Clan McKenzie. Again filming starts for the series in the fall. Dougal is dark, strong, sexy, womanizing, and maniacal. Gerry would have so much fun playing him.

Until I see what calibre of actors they're aiming for I'll wait to see if they do it justice. I've not read the books but my mum loves them.

Wow , i got almost the whole Outlander series , but i still on book one. To quote Bart Simpson , i'm a slow reader. I always to busy and i'm the type who would like to use an entire day insted of readidn little every night before i sleep. If i did , i would probley read all night. it's not often i find a book that i can barly put down like the Outlanders. When i'm reading a exsiteing part and i have to stop reading to do other thing , it will drive me nuts !! I need closeure. I'm kinda like Sheldon like that way. I really need to start reading again.
I really do hope they make a Outlander series , and i agree Gerry would have done a greatg job playing Dougal.
Who would you want to play the other's ( Jaime , Claire ect) ?

Until I see what calibre of actors they're aiming for I'll wait to see if they do it justice. I've not read the books but my mum loves them. You know, I know Diana Gabaldon held off on releasing anything that would not do her books justice. She said she read a few screen plays and she asked the authors of those, "Are you sure you read my books?" She's been holding out like JK Rowling for the story to resemble her work. I am a huge Outlander fan and I know I would be upset for the books to be changed. I think the Outlander community would be up in arms if they released something half-assed. Actually a series like Game of Thrones would be the best way to tell the story. Diana is very persnickety and the story has so much detail. One thing about the role of Dougal is that he is only in the first two books so this would not tie Gerry down. He could play a sexy Scotsman which he is and then walk away from what will likely be a hit series. Check it out ladies www.dianagabaldon.com/

Dougal has quite a few great interactions with Claire and Jamie. He's really an important character in the first season. Also some secrets swirl about concerning him. He's an interesting character.

www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1095844-it-s-official-expect-the-series-on-starz-in-2014It's official! Expect the series on STARZ in 2014! ----------------- Back in July we found out that Ronald D. Moore was developing a TV adaptation of the popular Diana Gabaldon multi-genre book series, Outlander. Judging by some of you fans of the books’ comments on our previous post, you very much wanted to see the TV series head to HBO or Starz. As it turns out, it’s now been announced that Starz has in fact reached a deal to develop the series, with Moore continuing to develop it and also acting as a writer and executive producer. Moore is of course best known for developing, executive producing, and sometimes writing the brilliant remake of Battlestar Galactica that aired on Syfy and resulted in piles of awards and acclaim, as well as a highly passionate fanbase. The Outlander books follow a married World War II combat nurse who finds herself traveling back in time to the year 1743, where she meets many dangers that put her life at risk and ultimately force her to marry into the protection of a Scottish warrior. It hops genres, offering up adventure, romance, sci-fi, historical, and fantasy elements. The seven-book series has sold over 20 million copies, and an eighth book will be released some time next year. No word yet on when we can expect to see something from the series.

I definitely think it would be so good for Gerry's career if he could be on a HBO/cable min-series or movie. I think the role in Outlander would be wonderful, I wonder how much of a commitment it would entail. Maybe it would be possible.

I hope that Gerry would agree to playing a role in the Outlander TV series. So many people have asked him about playing Jamie Fraser that he is quite familiar with the books. It would be just a pairfect role for him, speaking in his Scottish brogue and wearing a kilt!

It would be just a pairfect role for him, speaking in his Scottish brogue and wearing a kilt! I agree ladies, Dougal would be perfect for him. Both alpha males, both men act before they think things through, both sexy and love the ladies. It's a no brainer. Plus Dougal is only in the first two books, is not a main character, but an important character so it would leave Gerry with time to pursue other projects.
