I like this thread! I'm a newbie but I'm making up for lost time by stalking him online instead of working. Sigh. I remember seeing the trailers for 300 & staring gape-jawed at his body, but I never saw it and went on about my life; then I saw him in LAC but it didn't process that this was the same guy.... So then my Mom gave me the Outlander book to read- I'm a voracious reader BTW- I have a BA in English Lit- who goes to college to read? Just nerds like me! Anyway- I was trolling the web for more info on an Outlander movie and who do I run across but the lovely Mr. B. It was ON! Now my days are consumed with viewing his lovely self. I've seen most of his movies now but still have a few to go. I think my favorite is Dear Frankie- I balled my damn eyes out! As for what is it about him that I love- I think we all love the beauty, but I also love the way he's managed to remain very normal (for Hollywood at least). He seems very laid- back, very honest, has a filthy sense of humor, and very personable overall. I love that about him. Outlander did it for me too. There was no looking back once I read Outlander. Here's my fave vid: This is a photoshop but a good one...

Dawne27, if I could *like* your post, I would! Funny how many of these stories are similar I watched 300 and P.S. I Love You in January 2010, and though I liked the movies, GB didn't make an impression. He just wasn't my type - actor-wise or hunk-wise... Then I saw Phantom of the Opera and it just blew me away, especially three scenes: The Music of the Night, which is one of the most inspirational songs I have ever heard; the end of the Point of No Return and the scene at the end with the music box, which is the first you really see his face; and even though his face was scared, I just thought: WOW, he looks so beautiful and souly! I think that what I see, every time I see him... It's funny how we seem to respond in similar ways to him He just draws me in, and I must admit it took me some time to accept it, 'cause it's never happened to me before. He seems to strike a chord way deep in people - for me it has kinda been life-changing, I really think he in some ways is inspiring as a person and an artist! He really stands out (if this is unintelligible, it's because I'm severely sleep-deprived ) Mac! ((sleep deprived?hmmmm? listen my lovely bud....get your SLEEP...it is KEY to health, beauty & wisdom.....LOL)) meanwhile, it is amaZing (& little mystifying to boot!) so many, many gals from around the globe have had the same sentiments and experiences. interesting huh? you started out with phantom....for so many female fans THIS was the iconoclastic G role that changed their lives. literally changed these womens life. one girl after seeing phantom...lost 212 lbs., found love at 30 yrs old and had her FIRST KISS! can you imagine that! sweet huh. my story is not unlike yours (and others)...way back when 'tomb raider' released, off i take 'the brood' (my kids & neighbor kids plus plus) for an afternoon theatre... i dozed off (heehee)... when gerry came across the screen, i sat up, took notice and wondered, 'where have the aussies been keeping this boy?'.... LOL, i thought gerry was either south african or australian. some time passes and i'm meandering up & down the video store isles for something interesting to do. love historical stuff...so grabbed old copy of 'beaowulf'...well, let me tell ya....after this film w/ 'wrath'....this is where i fell...LOL. poetical, tender, funny, soulful....tough & rough...all packaged neatly under ONE BLOODY ROOF. what? WHAT! nosed around the net to find out who/what/why/where & when... 'weirdly obsessive' was (and is) PERFECT place to have hysterical fun and pay attention to the gerster. yes. he literally touched my soul in very deep ways. i've learned to deal properly with it and keep a healthy perspective. LOL never happened before. not like this intensity. (ie. 'stargaZing' like this). nope. honestly, not my 'style'...i'd like to find out exactly why this is so....anyway, i'm attracted to moving images (artistic way).... really like movies. want to eventually make documentary films myself and, honestly - gerry has inspired me to go forward...... meanwhile, i agree with you in that, he is interesting b/c he is regular. a regular guy living an extra-ordinary life. in a way, he's been very gracious to allow folks ((like us)) to engage him and then pay attention. earnestly. intensely. INSANELY....LOL.... .....sincerely though, he does appear to know when to draw the line (probably for his own sanity) which is a healthy thing to do. jeremy remmer (another good actor) recently said he 'doesn't want to be a good celebrity but rather a good human being.' YES jeremy i agree that IS better. then again...it seems our G is both.

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this , because i didn't know who Gerard was until few months ago when i saw Phantom of the opera. I'm more into music and books then movies , so that explains it. I seen him in tomb raider , 300 and tomorrow never dies , but i never gave him much tought then "hmmm..he's hot". Anyways , i was blow away from his passionate performance as the phantom and i cried at the ending. Another thing is that I'm not a very emotional person , so even i was surprised by my own reaction. I look the movie up and found out his name, When found out that Gerard was king Leonidas in 300 , i was a bit shocked. I became hardcore phantom phan after that, reading the original novel and watching every phantom movie that was made. The movie and the music means alot to me , cause it's has helped deal with my anxiety and depression. I listen to the music soundtrack almost everyday.I plan to write a fan letter someday to thank Gerry for that. I wanted to know more about him , so i saw a few interviews on youtube. I was amazed that he's so down to earth and humble , depite the fact that he's one of the biggest stars i Hollywood. I always enjoy his interviews ( unless if they don't ask about training and woman ). I like him because he's very smart ,deep , funny, silly and sensitive. He's just this masculine guy with a big heart. Like many of you have pointed out , he has very beautiful eyes and i could easily get lost in them. What i love the most about Gerry that he's so passionate about everything he does. I think that he's " it's either all or nothing" kinda guy. I better stop here , i could on and on about how much i like him. I never been this obsessed with anyone , except for David Bowie. I always smile when i see a picture of Gerry or hear his voice. I seen 10 of his movies so far , i'm doing my best to catch up with rest of you guys.

I first seen Gerry in 300 back in 06 I think and seen several of his movies after that. Of course I thought he was great looking but the obsession didn't start until after I seen The Ugly Truth. Now mind you it wasn't because that movie was so great it was because after I seen it I went to bed that night and had a dream about him. THE BEST DREAM EVER! Well...I haven't been the same since then.

He is genuine, caring, family oriented, he never puts on airs (what you see is what you get ). He at times can be a little boy with his hand in the cookie jar and at other times a protector. Men want to be him, women want to love him. He is not the run of the mill "pretty boy" Hollywood star, he is his own man.

I seen 10 of his movies so far , i'm doing my best to catch up with rest of you guys. I'm glad you found us!! I'm happy that there's a site where i can learn more about Gerry and to gush about him. You guys really nice and fun to "chat" with. Some people at other sites can get really nasty and put other people down. I sometimes talk about Gerry with my best friend when we discuss movies. I was a bit surprised when she told me that Gerry lived in Canada ( correct me if I'm wrong) when he was little. I guess she really likes him too. Who wouldn't though. Crave put it best , he's genuine , caring , a big kid but at the same time he'll protect people he cares about, He's a real mans man how also have big heart , doesn't crap from anybody and makes his career on his own terms. He's very smart guy , so i don't think he'll manipulated to be anybodies cash cow. The fact that he won't do crappy shallow movies just to earn millions or to be mainstream really earns my respect. He takes his work seriously and it's obvious he loves being an actor.

Men want to be him, women want to love him. He is not the run of the mill "pretty boy" Hollywood star, he is his own man. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Z6Jzg-dDsHw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Craven, entirely agree with your observations of G except that I would add his incredible sense of humor to your remarks. Watching and listening to his interviews over the years, he presents with such a quick wit and sense of fun, especially about himself and situations that he has been in, that he draws you right into him like a giant magnet. He appears to love to talk and tell stories that are both funny and entertaining, add that to his natural masculine handsomeness combined with his enormous sex appeal, it is difficult for anyone (male or female) to dislike him except maybe in cases of extreme jealousy. Dianne and Scottishheather (haven't figured out how to quote more than one post yet) put me down for another Diana Gabaldon’ s The Outlander Series fan who drifted over to being a G fan by way of a You Tube video by Arantxa69, Sassenach, I Will Find You with the haunting music My Immortal by Evanescence. ( youtu.be/Z6Jzg-dDsHw) There were many fan videos about The Outlander Series but this one for me hit the mark and resulted in a startling emotional response to this, yet unknown, man in the video. Not long after, I began buying his movies and spending hours on the computer following his adventures by lurking here and on some of his other fan sites. Finally, I landed here and became a member because you had the best current information and were the kindness. This preoccupation has seen me through some tough times recently, before this Jamie and Claire handled my stress levels but there is a lag time between books. By concentrating on G’s hair, the state of his buttons, what necklace he has on or who he is dating helps me cope with difficult circumstances by focusing on something distinctly more pleasant. I actually have a friend who tends to judge my state of mind by how many times I have listened to the POTO cd that day. If ever I were lucky enough to meet G without fainting like one of those Myotonic goats, ( youtu.be/we9_CdNPuJg) I would simply say “thank you” if I could manage to talk at all. And to you Dianne, and all the moderators of WO and every one of the contributing members of who make this all possible, please know that I appreciate all your efforts and I thank you all. Now I will try to embed this video which will probably fail that is why I included the link above.
