I would love to go to TIFF, do you know how expensive the hotel is and the tickets for the festival. Can I get an estimate of how much I should save up money wise? I want to make this birthday memorable, how do I get details, and how long is the festival and how long is everyone staying? Can we dress nice, or were just going to be outside waiting?? I know questions but I want a trip of a lifetime!!! You're like me, you plan early.... But I tell you what, we do have a lot of time to coordinate. I have a friend who lives in Toronto (in the city) and I will depend on her to tell us where, what, and how... She's been to the Film Festival before as well. Don't forget Americans, you will need a passport.

Let me throw this thought out there ... Perhaps we should find a hotel and book a block of rooms somewhere now since it will be soooo busy during the festival, I'd bet many reservations have already been made. We can always cancel what we don't need. Also if you book a block of rooms they will usually give you a break on the cost (maybe not in this case) but it might be worth a try. It would not be good to have all our ducks in a row and not have a place to stay ;-) Your thoughts ...

I already have my passport. I was also thinking it will really be busy there and might be hard to get a room. I am in with whatever you think is best. I am glad you girls are asking questions because I was also wondering what you wear in these situations since I have never been to one.. It looks like airplane tickets for me to Detroit will be around $600 roundtrip... So train tickets , I guess around $117.00 from what you girls said. I am saving my money....it will be worth it to me.... Linda/ Milo

Does anybody have an idea what would be a good hotel close (walking distance) to the festival/ venues? As I said before, right now for me it's very questionable that I can make it though... sigh...

Let me hear from my friend and I'll see what she recommends and we'll go from there. She is zagg on this site. We adminned together on my old Alan Rickman board. We've met in real life--her sister lives just a half hour from me and whenever she visits her sister we get together.... and OMG is she a ball of fun and really a cool person. She'll hook us up when we get there....(cross your fingers for me!)

Just to ask because I don't know how it works, who decides if MGP will be at TIFF or Cannes? Is it Weinstein now that he is distributing it or Ralph?
By the way, I think planning a trip there is a great idea for anyone who can get there.

I know I have to get a passport but do I need a travel visa, because I get confused with the travel froufrou?? I think a passport is all you need, they may stamp the visa in when you cross the border. My situation is different because I'm a German citizen living in the US.

You only need a passport from US to Canada. No other documents needed.

this is IT! can't wait! dianne, let us know whats up with zapp and i'm talking with a friend who works at TIFF.....this is SO exciting! here's a site for hotels/motels close to TIFF: www.wotif.com/hotels/landmarks/canada/tiff%C2%A0bell-lightbox-hotels.htmlplanning is everything. i read some of the girls are into 'clubbing'? AWESOME...personally...gimme a dance floor, please great work-out PLUS PLUS lots of fun to boot1 (here's a little bit - www.playlist.com/playlist/21277287947/standalone if not, look up 'sonique - feels so good') meanwhile, i wonder if we should develop a 'bank account' via this board for girls to pop $$ into for trip? (like a groups savings???) if we had confirmed committments we could go ahead and get a 'group' rate. i agree NOW would be the time to book rooms and transportation for discounts especically for early birds. definately need a check list: passport going into canada tickets to TIFF MAP, phone, coins, cards living, transportation, amenities personal articles gerry stuff (hee hee) someone asked about clothes? YES, absolutely, bring clothes LOL seriously, if we're going as attendees to daytime events & fan crowd, casual. weather appropriate clothes & sturdy, comfortable shoes are best. if nighttime hails a cab for us to attend an evening event...then i'd say spandex & sparkles (oOops, am i dating myself... ...whatevers hip & sexy) ....this is gonna be such fun!

I went to the TIFF website and wouldn't give the ticket prices, how do I know which ones to buy? ? they will not have a schedule of the festival released to public until the most earliest possibly july or august at that point tickets will go out for sale & reservation. so we certainly have some time as far as thats concerned. but, passports, travel, lodging etc should be started now for those wishing to attend. have you seen the pics of ger lately? OMG......what? he looks awefully good, does he not!!
