Good discussion, and a funny article....
I honestly don't think Gerry falls into any category of anything. He's a little bit of everything, imo, and to me he's just Gerry, plain and simple, and that's why I love him so.

All I have seen of Gerry, he is not a lout. I will never like labels on people. I know I don't like anyone labeling me. I agree with Jeannie. He is just Gerry. Loveable and wonderful. He is a softie and is so kind to his fans. There are many women who will want him for the wrong reasons. They will want to change him or think they can. I didn't really understand the article. I feel it was written about Gerry or whoever just to put him down. I am sure the author is perfect in every way. What does wearing jeans and comfortable shirts have anything to do with anything? I love this man because of who he is. I refuse to call him any name except Gerry, Gerard, My Butler.

I think it wasn't meant to be taken seriously and was written more about his characters than Gerry himself.

I don't think he is a lout either, but as Jonathan Ross said, I believe he can stop menopause and I am the perfect example.....lol

I would never want to change him, then he wouldn't be Gerry anymore. I love him the way he is now, he says and does what he wants and makes no excuses for it. He's not perfect, I don't have him on a pedastal or anything, but the fact that he isn't perfect is what makes him perfect if that makes any sense.

I took him off my pedestal a couple of years ago. LOL And off he stays!

LOL honestly, gerry truly is a gift wrapped up in a gift...any way, shape or form of him is acceptable to me! (and i think the most of us here, too) and for the rest, don't be offended by 'lout'...didn't know it was so harsh a term in europe...(words are important but so is 'context' and if its said in a jolly, sincere light?? right??)

He doesn't presume or pretend to be perfect, nor is he - that's exactly what's perfect about him. That's what I love about him anyway ;-)

If Gerry is a lout I'll take one please. In one sense yes on the surface he is but when it comes to sitting on the couch drinking a beer and watching football that doesn't fit him. Yes, he would watch football but it's called soccer to him and played with a different ball but I don't know Gerry maybe he has adapted to the whole American NFL football thing. Last time I checked he still doesn't drink. But please name one lout that tries his best to avoid the media by flying all over the world and doesn't flaunt his latest love with him just for the said media attention he's trying to avoid. I don't know one lout that would build a school to help disadvantaged kids in a country practically destroyed by an earthquake. So if they are writing about his characters yes but as for Gerry no not completely. Plus I'd rather see Gerry dressed in the same T-shirt and jeans on occasion instead of a different designer jean and jacket every time they take a picture of him. They broke the mold when they made Gerry and he doesn't fit the lout typical mold at all.
