I've only just reached the halfway point of this book, but I will post a review of what I think of it so far.

Thanks for taking the time to write and post a review, Denise. I so appreciate it. Reviews are so important when people are thinking about purchasing an unknown author's work. I am so glad you are appreciating how I portray Christine's early relationship with Erik. You see when I first saw the movie, those were the things I wanted to know about. How in the world did he teach her, and how did their relationship grow over the years? Enjoy the second half too!

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!!!!
That's always what I wanted to know, too; I had always wondered about Christine's earlier years at the Paris Opera House and I also wanted to see Erik's past delved into further and, reading this, I have some idea has to what it had been like for him to grow up. God! It broke my heart the way he was treated by his mother and how he was ridiculed by others. I tell you, I absolutely love Madame Giry in this book! I loved her in the movie, too, but I really love her character here and Meg might not be seen much, but she was an integral part of Christine's life. If only I had a friend like that growing up.

Meg has a much more prominent role in the second book, and Madame Giry's character is more fully developed as well. I'm very interested in hearing your comments as you get deeper into the story. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!

SPOILER ALERT!!!! Oh my gosh!! I have only two hundred pages left to go, but I had to tell you my impressions up to this point. I love how your book is showing that, despite Erik's deformity, Christine still loves her Angel. She shows more compassion towards him that what I saw from her in the movie, which was more along the lines of pity. Erik didn't want her pity, he wanted her to love him as much as he loves her. Right now, Raoul is on his way to the Opera House and it's Christine's last night playing Marguerite in Faust before the holiday break. (By the way, that was cool how you used Gerard's name as a character in the book. )

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!! I finished this book last night and I absolutely loved it!! Although I understand Christine's reason for choosing Raoul over Erik after she learned of Buquet's death, I agreed with Erik; she betrayed him to the Vicomte. That was a stab through Erik's heart because Raoul is his rival for her affections. I do like the fact that she is less shallow in this book; she doesn't betray Erik because of the way he looks, and even goes so far as to defend him on several occasion, she does so because of what Erik has done. I learned so much about Erik's past, most of which made me really sad for the young boy who was rejected by his own mother. This story was beautifully told, I felt like I was a part of this world of the opera and its many characters. Thank you for sharing your vision of the Phantom with the readers, Swannie and I look forward to the next installment.
