Thanks for the welcome Your probably right. If I was seventeen, acting alongside a 34 year old man, I probably would have a crush on him ( especially if it was gerard butler) but anything romantic? No, just puppy feelings. Emmy always says she just sees him as a big brother. I was looking at the justjared board, where he's posing with Freida pinto, and it said at a party he was talking to Justin, Emmy's ex. I thought, ' Maybe he's asking about her.' Seventeen years is a big gap.... Then again Dustin hoffman is 17 years older then his wife and he meet her when she was 10, they've been together for over thirty years. Hope he settles down, he seems like he would be a great daddy. You know you are absolutely right and you never know.

My parents are 14 years apart - in my Dad's case and this may be a very European thing, he didn't feel he was ready to get married until he was further established job wise, and it was hard in his home country so he moved to Canada, this was in that post war migration, and there he was able to get himself established and then he could think about looking for a wife and starting a family. Not unlike Gerry in a way except my Dad was not a player or not that I know of, hmmm.

Emmy Rossum told Craig Ferguson in an interview she did for Phanton, that while they were filming, she used to cook for him, and he would take her to the theatre in London, so they could bond more, and get more comfortable with each other. I don't how much they see of each other anymore though.

I've always liked older men. I think because women mature faster so about a 10 15 year difference is about right, but older men wanna feel younger and younger women keep them on their toes and I don't know it seems to be a nice trade off in alot of cases it works and if you notice most of these much older men adore their wives.

You guys, your giving me hope for the emmy and gerard relationship. I did forget that Michael douglas is that much older then catherine zeta jones, and it seems like he adores her.
I hope they've stayed in touch. Emmy lives in new york, and gerard lives there, or am I thinking of someone else?
Her current boyfriend is like twenty four years older then her, so I guess she does like older men
They did have alot of chemistry in the movie, alot more then the chemistry she was supposed to have with that other guy

Who will ultimately win Gerry’s heart? When he falls he falls hard. I’ll tell you this much it will not be a fellow celeb. No siree to high maintenance for our Gerry. No doubt she will be somewhat a looker but not a model the maintenance ego thing again. She will be in a place where she will meet him several times and they will no doubt have a friendly banter. She won’t be thunder struck by his celebrity. She will see him as just a guy. She will have an inner charm that begins to cause his defenses to crumble. The first couple of times he asks her out she will have legitimate reasons to say, “sorry I can’t.” He is not used to that and that alone will intrigue him. He is used to women that would blow of her own mother’s funeral to go out with him. When they do go out it will be one of G’s walk around the city just talking. The conversations will be deep she is just as intelligent as he is. She will find the discourse titillating Anything less would bore him to tears. It has been said that G has an innate ability to see beneath the surface. So don’t even try to snow him. Although he likes to tumble between the sheets like any other red blooded male I believe he detests the girl who succumbs to his advances easily. He likes the strength of character that will send him on his way with blue balls. Though if they are going to put out who is he to say no? He likes the thrill of the chase and actually respects it. Deep down I believe that Gerry is a traditionalist. Home and hearth is where he would prefer to be and being alone is getting old. Wow, Joy - you said it so well. (we think alike about his "real" character) If that is true, than I'm really sad I'll never meet him, and not to mention - to be his. Because, this type of a man I need...

I can't see how anyone can be in 'relationship' and waiting all the time for loving being.Don't even for him.And I think he is perfectly aware of that and that's why he said he would settled down in some 20-30 years.Life,as the saying goes,is the sum of all our choices, and only he knows how many decisions had to make in the past-some were profound and life-changing to be now where he is.My point is-I'm not sure that even he knows what's looking for so...He'll be single for some time and only time will show if that will be enough for happiness. So,wish him all luck he can get in his search!

It'll be someone much like his mom. Someone who isn't afraid of him and won't back off. Someone with a deep understanding of his inner conflicts and isn't concerned by them. Someone with a great sense of humor, grace and deep wisdom of what men want. Not sexually, but more about motivation, passion and who's very emotional. Someone who inspires him, lets him be him with complete acceptance and tolerance of his shifting moods. She needs to be his wall of light. His flame that warms him when it's cold and dark where he is. His water fountain of pure clean water. Love him like cash but never let him get away with self-destructive behaviors (like in the first half of 2010). Someone who can present themselves well in public but doesn't need to be a stunner but pretty, fit with a winning smile, get along with his many diverse friends, non-judgmental, open and fair minded, conservative, traditional but flexible, faithful, God loving, spiritual, forgiving, wise. Must be able to make him proud and fit into his erratic lifestyle, like his friends and allow him to keep them. Love pets, children (he's a big kid), love learning and have interests outside of him. She needs to be confident, aware, brave, courageous, fearless, proud, self-possessed, bright and intelligent, funny, caring, attractive, sexy, playful, loyal, trusting, inventive, uninhibited, together but mostly... happy.
